Chapter 39 Rescue Sean
After Lin Yan opened the Eye of Death, the movements of the enemy in front of him instantly slowed down.
He originally wanted to fire both guns at the same time to hit two enemies at the same time, but after the bullet from the gun in his right hand accurately hit one of the enemies' forehead, he found that the trajectory of the pistol in his left hand was completely out of his control and the bullets fired were extremely off target.
Is this game so strict? Only one hand has a passive skill at the same time...
While Lin Yan was stunned for a moment, several enemies in front of him had already changed their bullets and were ready to start shooting again.
Sadie was one step behind Lin Yan, and just now she rode up to him. Lin Yan only heard the sound of gunfire behind him. Although the accuracy was not as high as Lin Yan's, the continuous gunfire forced the enemy to lower their heads to avoid the fierce firepower.
"Get off the horse! Find cover quickly!" Sadie shouted at Lin Yan who was still sitting on the horse while shooting.
After Lin Yan opened the Eye of Death again and hit an enemy who was about to shoot in the distance, he hurriedly jumped off his horse, hid behind the pile of logs in front, and then fired to cover Sadie's coming.
Sadie followed him down the road, put away her empty pistol, and hid behind a pile of logs.
"How many did you kill?" Sadie asked Lin Yan while changing bullets.
"Two." Lin Yan stuck his head out again and shot an enemy who wanted to move towards this side before changing his words: "Now there are three."
Sadie reloaded the two guns in her hands, and after turning the cylinders of the pistols with her thumbs, she said, "I saw a man hanging upside down under the tree at the bottom of the opposite hillside. That should be Sean. If we see someone approaching him later, we should pay special attention to that person."
Lin Yan walked to the edge of the log pile and stuck his head out to look in the direction Sadie said. Just as he retracted his head, a bullet happened to hit the place where his head had just stuck out. The bullet hit the edge of a log, and the flying wood chips immediately cut tiny wounds on Lin Yan's face.
After Lin Yan pulled his head back, he felt a little itchy on his right cheek. He reached out and touched it, and found that there was a slight stain of blood on his hand.
Lin Yan, who had seen a lot of storms (shoulder injury), didn't take this minor injury seriously. Seeing the few remaining enemies in the camp, Lin Yan said to Sadie while loading his ammunition: "I'll take the opportunity to run behind the carriage over there, so that we can attack from two directions."
Seeing Sadie opening her mouth to say something, Lin Yan patted his chest and said confidently: "Don't worry, I run very fast, and their bullets can't keep up with me." Then he added: "You can also take this opportunity to shoot the enemies attracted by me."
After saying that, Lin Yan seized the opportunity, quickly ran out from behind the pile of logs, and headed straight for the carriage not far away.
The next moment after Lin Yan ran out, Sadie poked her head out from the other side of the pile of logs, looking for a target to shoot.
Agility is currently Lin Yan's highest attribute, reaching 11 points. Lin Yan estimated that if it weren't for the blessing of agility last time, he would not have been able to save Sadie before the explosives exploded even if he opened the Eye of Death.
Although Lin Yan did not activate the Eye of Death this time, the speed of movement was not something these people could easily aim at. Just as he successfully reached the back of the carriage, before he had time to catch his breath, he caught a glimpse of two enemies holding sniper rifles appearing on the opposite hillside.
Lin Yan, who was just slightly out of breath, did not hesitate at all. He temporarily threw away the pistol in his left hand, then held the pistol in his right hand with both hands and opened the Eye of Death again.
You must be kidding. If these two people find the opportunity, unless something unexpected happens, one of him and Sadie will definitely not be able to get out today.
Because the target was a bit far away, Lin Yan wasted some time in the aiming process, but he still managed to shoot three bullets at each of the two men within the limited time.
"Bang, bang, bang, bang." Lin Yan fired three bullets at each enemy for safety. The two enemies who were on high ground were killed instantly, and the danger for him and Sadie was temporarily lifted.
Hiding his body behind the wheels of the carriage, Lin Yan quickly took out a box of bullets from his space bag to refill the magazines of the two guns, then stuck his head out again to observe the situation in the camp.
Judging from the few sporadic gunshots left, Sadie should have done well during his run.
After actual observation, Lin Yan discovered that there seemed to be only one enemy left outside the entire camp.
Seeing that the other party was looking at Sadie curiously, Lin Yan sighed, raised his hand and shot him away from the side.
For safety reasons, he did not warn Sadie, but carefully crouched and walked around the camp. Apart from the people lying still, only two faint groans could be heard.
After Lin Yan approached the two sources of the sound, he found that the enemy had completely lost the ability to fight back, so he put away the guns beside them and ignored them.
After hiding behind the pile of logs and reloading, Sadie found that there was no more gunfire in the entire camp. She only heard a rustling sound. She stood up vigilantly with two guns in hand and looked around. She found that no one was shooting at her anymore. Instead, she saw a familiar figure throwing a pistol from someone into his bag.
Sadie recognized Lin Yan's back at a glance. Seeing that the two of them not only completed what Josiah had asked them to do, but also exceeded the target, she happily teased, "Why, when did you become a rag picker?"
Lin Yan, who was bending over to pick up another rifle on the ground, was startled when he heard a voice behind him. When he recognized that it was Sadie's voice, he touched his rapidly beating heart and complained, "Can you please not speak so suddenly? It's frightening."
Sadie gave a playful smile. "Oh? I remember someone saying that being scared is fun afterwards."
Lin Yan immediately thought of the time when Sadie was frightened by the stuffed brown bear behind the door of the hotel in Strawberry Town, and then she blamed him for not speaking up for her. He chuckled twice and stopped discussing the topic.
He pointed to several wooden houses in the camp and said, "There is no danger outside the camp. I don't think we need to put Sean down in a hurry. Let's go check these wooden houses first to confirm if there is any danger inside."
Sadie nodded. "It's better to be cautious."
There were two intact wooden houses in the entire camp. Lin Yan and Sadie first came to the one that was farther away from Sean. They carefully circled the wooden house and could clearly see from the windowless outside that there were no enemies in the house.
Then the two came to the second wooden house that had been built. As usual, the two walked around the wooden house. It was unknown what this house was used for. The windows were located very high. As Lin Yan walked, he guessed that this wooden house should be used to temporarily detain prisoners.
Just as the two of them walked to the door, an enemy suddenly jumped out of the house holding a double-barreled shotgun. The moment he appeared, he had already pulled the trigger of the shotgun in his hand.
Lin Yan was still quite alert. The moment the enemy appeared, he activated the Eye of Death. But he was still a step too late, and the opponent's finger had already pulled the trigger. In slow motion, Lin Yan wanted to pounce on Sadie again, but when he saw that the ammunition in the opponent's shotgun had not been fired, but the barrel began to deform, he gave up the idea and chose to step back and block Sadie behind him.
"Bang!" The gun in the other party's hand still made a sound, but it was not the sound of the ammunition being fired. The huge power of the shotgun barrel exploding caused the barrel to completely separate from the gun body. This was not the end. The powerful impact caused the gunman's right hand holding the gun to be instantly broken, and the left hand was directly blown off the arm.
After the noise, the other party looked at his limp left hand and the bloody right wrist with bone stumps exposed, and let out a wail that echoed throughout the camp. But just as he made a sound, a yellow bullet pierced his throat.
After Sadie raised his hand and shot the enemy dead, he looked anxiously at Lin Yan who was standing in front of him.
Lin Yan patted the debris that had hit his clothes, said with a pale face, "I'm fine", then turned around and started to retch while holding the wooden house.
The power of the enemy's shot was all applied to the shotgun and the hands of the shooter, causing little damage to Lin Yan, who was not very close to the front. But he watched the opponent's right hand being completely blown off by the power of the gun barrel, revealing the white bones in his arm, and he couldn't help but feel like vomiting.
Fortunately, they left in a hurry today and had not had breakfast yet. Lin Yan just dry-heaved and spit out a few mouthfuls of bitter water before returning to normal.
Sadie looked Lin Yan up and down several times, and only heaved a sigh of relief when she found that he had no signs of injury except for some slight bloodstains on his face.
"Fortunately his gun exploded, otherwise we would both die here today." Sadie said with lingering fear.
Lin Yan's pale face forced a smile. "I knew my luck wouldn't be bad."
Sadie was annoyed that Lin Yan was still talking nonsense at this time, and couldn't help but kick him. "Your luck will run out eventually, so be careful next time."
Lin Yan nodded repeatedly. After spitting out the bitter water in his mouth again, he and Sadie came to the tree where Sean was hanging.
Sean's head was covered by a linen hood, so he couldn't see who was coming. He had just heard gunshots in the camp while hanging on the tree, and soon after it fell silent, he heard a strange noise, followed by a scream and a gunshot, and then the sound of approaching footsteps.
"Dutch? Arthur? Are you here to save me?" Sean asked hopefully.
"Sorry to disappoint you, Dutch and Arthur are not here."
Lin Yan walked forward and lifted Sean's body, and Sadie shot the rope that was hanging Sean's feet. After letting Sean sit on the ground, Lin Yan untied the rope tied to Sean's hood and took off the hood.
As soon as he approached Sean, Lin Yan smelled a strong mixture of sweat, fishy smell and stench from his clothes. Fortunately, he had vomited just now, and now his stomach was empty and there was nothing to vomit, so he could endure the smell.
My goodness, you’ve been caught for so long and you haven’t even been allowed to change clothes or take a shower or anything. Look at the smell... You must have fleas on your body.
When Sean's hood was taken off, he saw that the person who saved him was a strange young man with a cowboy hat and stubble on his face. Behind him was a young woman in a yellow shirt and a black vest.
"You are..." Sean found that he had never seen the two people in front of him before.
After Lin Yan took off Sean's hood, he was also observing the young man in front of him.
This member of the Van der Linde gang, whom he had only heard of but never met, had red medium-length hair that looked messy. Lin Yan guessed that it was because he was unable to take care of it during his detention that it became like this. Compared to his hair, his face looked relatively clean.
Is it because he has too much beard that he can't recognize the appearance on the wanted poster? Lin Yan thought irresponsibly.
Sean has a typical Western face with deep eye sockets, a straight nose, and thin lips.
"We are the new members of the Van der Linde gang. My name is Jamie Custer, and the one behind me is Ms. Sadie Adler." Lin Yan introduced himself and Sadie to Sean with a smile.
"Oh, thank...thank you. But are you just two here?" Although Sean looked young, he was quite experienced. He was still skeptical about these two strangers he had never met before.
Lin Yan untied the ropes that bound his hands and said, "Javier, Josiah, Bill, and Charles are in the valley behind dealing with the bounty hunters over there. They can't get away for the time being, so they asked us to come here first."
When Sean heard that his companions might still be in danger, he hurriedly asked Lin Yan and his party to take him back to help. "Then let's go and help them quickly. There are still a lot of bounty hunters here. I'm afraid they can't hold on."
As he spoke, he worked with Lin Yan's feet to break free from the ropes.
Just as Sean took a gun from the corpse in the camp and prepared to go back to pick up his companions, Lin Yan saw several people running from the direction of the valley in the distance.
"Someone is coming over there." Lin Yan said, pointing at a few people running towards this side.
Sean was stunned for a moment, squinting his eyes and staring for a while. "It's Charles! Behind him are Javier and Josiah, and the last one is Bill! They are coming out!" Seeing that all his companions who came to rescue him appeared in front of him, Sean completely let down his guard against Lin Yan and the others.
Charles and the others ran to the camp and were surprised to see Sean standing on the log pile and waving at them. They didn't expect Lin Yan and Sadie to be so efficient and actually rescued the people. They originally thought there was still a fierce battle waiting for them here.
When they got closer, the excited Sean ran down the pile of logs and hugged Charles, Javier, and Josiah in turn. When it was Bill's turn, Bill sniffed and decisively dodged.
"Hey! Bill! Aren't you going to give a warm hug to your lost brother?" Sean said dissatisfiedly when he saw Bill dodging.
"Forget it. Do they lock you in the toilet every day? The smell from you is killing me." Bill replied with disgust.
Sean raised his middle finger to Bill provocatively, then looked at everyone and concluded: "Anyway, thank you for risking your life to save me. I will remember this favor. Now, let's get out of here quickly. I heard that there are not only bounty hunters in this area, but also Pinkerton detectives almost everywhere. It will be difficult to leave if they find us."
