Wilderness Redemption Tour

Chapter 41 The banquet begins

Lin Yan was indeed a little tired physically, but he was very excited. He excitedly found Sadie who was talking to Little Jack and Kieran.

Sadie was squatting down and asking Jack a question. "Jack, why did you throw stones at him?" Sadie pointed at Kieran who was chopping wood nearby.

"Because he's from the O'Driscoll Gang, and Mom says all the O'Driscoll Gang members are bad people."

"But I have already quit the O'Driscoll Gang. I'm with you now." Lin Yan could see that Kieran found himself hated by the kids, and his words revealed aggrieved feelings.

"But you were one before. The O'Driscoll Gang did a lot of bad things to us before. You might be here." Jack said and threw another small stone at Kieran.

Sadie stroked Jack's hair and said patiently, "Jack, you are still young. Don't let the adults' bad mood affect you. Fighting against the O'Driscoll Gang is the adults' business. Go over there and play with your mother. Uncle Pearson is going to kill the cow soon. Don't scare you again."

Kieran, who was chopping wood, saw Sadie persuade Jack to leave and thanked her.

Sadie snorted and said, "Forget it. I'm not doing this for you. I just don't want little Jack to be corrupted by you."

After saying that, she pulled Lin Yan, who was standing behind her, back to the rock where she often watched the scenery.

"You don't seem to be very friendly to Kiran." Lin Yan asked tentatively.

Sadie got a bottle of beer from somewhere, took a sip and said, "Just like what Jack said just now, because he is a member of the O'Driscoll Gang."

"But he has joined us, hasn't he? I saw Kieran working in the camp these days and never took a break. I think he joined the O'Driscoll Gang just to make a living."

Sadie didn't seem to want to discuss this topic with Lin Yan. She asked directly, "What do you want to talk to me about?"

Seeing that Sadie was a little unhappy, Lin Yan stopped discussing the topic. He excitedly said to Sadie, "Arthur just told me that I can act alone in the future, just like other gang members, and find things to do on my own."

Sadie seemed to have expected this day to come, so she didn't seem surprised when she heard the news. "Oh? That's it? So you came to me to ask me to help you?"

Lin Yan nodded. "Of course I need a helper. We are the only two newcomers in the entire camp. Who else can I ask if not you? Besides, you know so many of my secrets, so I can't ask anyone else."

Sadie agreed readily. "Well, I said I would help you anyway."

But then she asked another question that made Lin Yan feel puzzled: "So you will start your plan from tomorrow?"

"Plan? What plan?" Lin Yan was confused by the question.

"You said you wanted to save the gang members, so there must be a plan. Have you never thought of anything?"

Lin Yan shook his head and said embarrassedly: "I don't know what to do. Let's take it one step at a time. Anyway, the ultimate goal must be to let everyone have the life they want. We can't always be bandits. In this era where primitive and civilized are intertwined, we, or the other people in the gang, will sooner or later be swept into civilized society by the tide of the times. No one can be an exception, I can be sure of that."

Sadie repeated Lin Yan's words softly, thought for a while, then frowned and said, "Who did you learn this from? Although I don't quite understand it, I always feel that it seems to be very philosophical."

"Uh...I made that up, actually."

While Lin Yan and Sadie sat on the edge of the camp looking into the future, preparations in the camp were also in full swing.

Arthur and Pearson had dissected the Devon steer that Arthur had bought at Emerald Ranch last time. Pearson simply washed and cut some of the viscera and threw them into the pot. The other part was entrusted to Karen, who was asked to salt the remaining viscera. Lenny and John were responsible for cutting the large piece of beef that Arthur had cut into edible sizes and threading them into skewers. Javier had built another bonfire in the middle of the camp, and Charles was working hard to make a barbecue grill.

The dinner to celebrate Sean's safe return officially began after Sean came back from his shower.

After Sean washed off the smell on his body and changed his clothes, everyone in the camp was finally willing to get close to him.

After Sean came back, he grabbed a bottle of beer, jumped onto a crate in the camp and began his personal speech, talking about how bravely he had covered everyone's escape from Blackwater Town, how he would rather die than surrender after being captured, how even the most powerful Pinkerton interrogators couldn't do anything to him, and how he had fought back with his clever mouth.

Of course, he also exaggerated the suffering he had endured.

He drank and described the story vividly. When the beer in his hand was finished, he took another bottle. He drank four or five bottles in a row before he finished describing his deeds during this period.

Finally, Sean waved the empty bottle in his hand and said, "Anyway, don't worry anymore. Now that Sharpshooter McQueen is back, the gang's most glorious moment is about to come!"

After getting off the crate, he did not forget to say to Aunt Susan, who was standing beside him with her arms folded, listening to his speech: "Ms. Grimshaw, you don't have to be so gloomy all day long. We will manage this camp in good order."

"I love you bastards. Of course, this also includes Mr. Custer and Mrs. Adler who have just joined us and rescued me. I love you. Have fun, everyone. Enjoy yourself."

The camp members who were listening with great interest below burst into cheers, with Karen's voice being the loudest. "Yohoo! Well said! Sean!"

"Let's drink too!" This was the uncle's voice.

Sean walked towards the only table in the camp with unsteady steps. Karen hurriedly stood up and helped him to his seat, then moved her seat next to him.

In the open space, Lin Yan and Sadie each took a bottle of beer and watched the lively scene in front of them. When they saw Karen take the initiative to sit next to Sean, Sadie was the first to lose her composure.

"How come no one told me that Karen and Sean were a couple? I wanted to try to match her up with you."

Lin Yan took a sip of wine and said thankfully: "Fortunately you haven't taken action yet. Maybe everyone is used to it. Why should we say such common sense things?"

Dutch was standing outside his tent, holding a cigar in his hand and looking at the lively scene in the camp with a smile on his face. Molly, who rarely appeared in public, was standing beside him at this time, but she did not pay too much attention to the situation in the camp. Instead, she looked at Dutch beside her with a happy face, because she could see that Dutch was really happy tonight.

"The meat is roasted and the offal stew is also cooked. If you want to eat, just get it." Pearson held a plate of hot offal stew that had just been served in his left hand and a skewer of sizzling roast beef in his right hand as he sat down at another empty seat at the table and started to devour the food.

Seeing how much Pearson was enjoying the meal, the people around him also stood up to take the meat and the soup. Lin Yan didn't like the unique taste of offal, so he just took a piece of roast beef from the grill. Sadie didn't mind the taste of offal, so she took a plate of offal and ate it with relish.

After simply filling our stomachs, the camp’s celebratory singing session began again as usual.

Javier held his guitar, waiting for everyone to request songs.

The uncle patted his shoulder and sat down beside him. "Javier, do you know how to play the tune of 'The Keyhole in the Door'?"

Javier gently raised his fingers and played a prelude.

"Haha, I knew you would. You, a Mexican, are more like a local than us."

After praising Javier, the uncle began to sing along with the tune Javier played. Sean and Arthur, who were still eating, also put down their food and sang along.

"I left the party early, just after 9:30. Luckily, her room was next to mine. Like a brave Columbus, I wanted to explore new territory, so I found a spot next to the keyhole."

"It's the keyhole in the door! It's the keyhole in the door!"

"There she was, sitting on the chamber pot, in all her elegance and ease. Her immaculate undergarments were stripped down to her white knees. Around her legs were a pair of sky-blue garters. God, I wanted to jump through the keyhole and make love to her."

"It's the keyhole in the door! It's the keyhole in the door!"

"With shaking fingers, I opened the door a crack. On tiptoe, I moved towards her bed. No one could see such a beautiful sight as I did."

"It's the keyhole in the door! It's the keyhole in the door!"

"Please figure out for yourselves what happens next. No matter how the two of them fiddle, they can't escape our ideas. You can manipulate them however you want, because I really can't tell."

As soon as the song was finished, the atmosphere in the camp was instantly livened up by them, and even Molly started chatting with Malibeth and Tilly.

Molly took a sip of the wine in her glass and said to Malibeth, "They will drink until dawn, I guarantee it."

"Let them all be happy for a while. We've been through enough during this period." Malibeth said after swallowing the barbecue in her mouth. "I thought you, an Irishman, didn't like banquets."

"Of course not, I like it very much." Molly said and took another sip of wine.

On the other side, Bill was preaching his sheep theory to Hosea, John, Pearson and Lenny.

"Stupid! You know? This incident taught me a lesson. This... this... this incident taught me a lesson that I will never forget. That is, most people are actually sheep. Yes, sheep. And... and if you can tell... tell the difference between sheep and humans, then you... then you are better than me. That's all I have to say, you all remember what I said."

Bill stammered as he told the story to everyone, and ended with a curse: "This damn army."

I don’t know whether the others were listening or immersed in their own world. In any case, after Bill finished speaking, no one responded to him.

After a while, John finally woke up and said, "I'm ready to indulge myself tonight. You know, I've been suppressing myself longer than any of you."

"You've had plenty of time to indulge yourself, John," Hosea spoke up from his own seat.

John felt a little embarrassed by what he said, and could only bite the bullet and reply, "Yeah, life is short." After that, he started drinking the whiskey in his hand.

"Drink less, Marston. You have a family now, you should think more about them." Lin Yan couldn't believe that these words came from Bill's mouth.

After drinking more than half of the bottle of wine, John wiped his mouth. "It's okay, tonight is an exception. Tonight we are going to party because Sean is back."
