Wilderness Redemption Tour

Chapter 64: Buy Lamb for Free

John explained his plan in detail and looked at his two companions behind him with great enthusiasm.

"How about it, do you want to give him a try?"

Seeing John's confident look, Lin Yan really wanted to ask him: How dare you take such a risk at this critical moment? How much do you like free shopping?

"I think this is a good idea. Count me in." Sadie felt that there was potential, so she stood on John's side without hesitation.

"Very good, 2 to 1, we won." John clenched his fists and celebrated.

At the same time, Sadie also started to persuade Lin Yan psychologically. "Don't hesitate. The minority obeys the majority. Just come with us."

"You don't need to do anything, just watch from the side." John also advised.

Seeing that he was unable to handle the whole thing alone, Lin Yan glared at Sadie with a hint of resentment and shook his head helplessly.

"Okay, I'll go with you."

John cheered again, then pulled the reins and steered the carriage onto the fork road leading to Emerald Ranch.

"If you ask me, you don't need to worry at all." John, who was in a good mood at the moment, opened up. "I can guarantee that nothing will go wrong with our operation this time."

......

Lin Yan, who was following behind the carriage, was a little depressed. Not knowing the direction of the game's plot, he was worried that a small action of his would cause a butterfly effect.

Sadie's behavior today is a bit abnormal. From my observation, as long as the O'Driscoll gang is not involved, she has always behaved rationally and has never taken the initiative to propose robbery. Could it be... this is the correct direction of the plot?

Sadie, who was standing by, saw that Lin Yan had been keeping his head down, frowning, and muttering to himself since he turned into the fork in the road. She got so angry that she moved over and kicked him in the calf.

"Hey! Look at you. It's just that I didn't do what you thought. I just took away a flock of sheep. I didn't kill anyone. What's there to worry about?"

Sadie's kick brought Lin Yan back to reality. He patted the dirty part of his body without much concern and said with a smile, "It's not because of this."

"Then what are you mumbling about by yourself?"

"I was just wondering why you were so active this time." Turning his head to look at John who was driving in front, Lin Yan lowered his voice and asked cautiously: "Are you a traitor?"

Sadie glared at him and said unhappily: "If I were you, the first thing I would do now is to make you wake up." As she said that, she came over again, pulled off Lin Yan's hat, and raised her hand to give him a slap on the face.

"Hiss..." Lin Yan covered the place where he was hit and gasped in pain.

"It's just a joke. If it's not true, then it's not true. Why do you have to hit me..." he muttered softly.

"I beat you to teach you a lesson. Don't doubt your companions without solid evidence."

Because of the pain, Lin Yan remembered Sadie's words firmly in his heart.

Because he didn't want to cause any more unpleasantness, Lin Yan no longer showed any dissatisfaction with this action.

I have a bit of luck, and John himself is full of confidence, so this mission probably won't fail, and it won't alert those detectives. My worries are totally groundless. Lin Yan counseled himself.

John led them all the way through the Double Stack Mountain in the center of the Heart of the Earth, and then stopped at the foot of an unknown hill in front of it.

"Leave the cart here for now, and we'll ride horses to the top." John said as he untied the packhorse from the cart, and then led them around and up to the top of the hill.

"This is a great place to observe the routes of those shepherds. I hope your eyesight is good enough. After all, I only have a pair of binoculars." As he said this, John took out a pair of small binoculars from his body.

You really had this planned in advance... Lin Yan secretly complained as he looked at the telescope in John's hand.

Sadie silently estimated the distance between the top of the mountain and the ground, and offered a pertinent suggestion: "This place is quite far from the ground, and I think it will be difficult to scare people away if we just fire blanks."

"Of course not a blank shot," John said, taking off the rifle he had been carrying on his back. "For this, I have prepared something else," he said with his chin slightly raised, somewhat proudly.

The body of the gun was tightly wrapped with cloth by John. At first, Lin Yan thought it was just an ordinary bolt-action rifle, but when John removed the cloth, he found that it was actually a roller-locked rifle, an old-fashioned sniper rifle.

John skillfully opened the magazine, loaded the rifle's universal bullets, and observed the grass in the distance through the scope. When he felt that everything was as expected, he patted the gun and said, "With this, what you said is not a problem. Yesterday, I had a little quarrel with Valentine's weapons dealer because of buying it."

Finding that John had made sufficient preparations in advance, Lin Yan couldn't help but ask: "Well... I'm a little curious, if you can't leave the camp today, won't all these preparations be in vain?"

John didn't seem to care. "Why not just give up? It's just a business deal. One of the things I've learned in these years in the gang is that as long as you're alive, you have to learn to adapt to this world full of surprises, especially people like us."

Then, he changed his tone and continued, "But since I was able to get out, it proves that I'm lucky. This is why I've been insisting on this. Sometimes you have to admit that luck is real."

Of course I know this, I have personal experience with luck. But Lin Yan just smiled after hearing this and did not respond.

"Look over there, are those black spots over there our targets?" Sadie, who was overlooking the direction of Emerald Ranch, called out to the other two.

Lin Yan looked in the direction that Sadie pointed, and he did see several moving black dots on the yellow and green grass not far from the Emerald Ranch. In front of these black dots, there were quite a few gray dots.

"Yes, it is indeed them." John confirmed through the telescope.

"I told you, it won't take long to come here."

"Let's wait a little longer. When they get close to here, I'll be responsible for shooting and scaring them away. You can take over the flock of sheep."

"Now we can just take in the scenery and stuff."

After briefly dividing everyone's responsibilities, John sat on the ground and leisurely began to oil the gun.
