Wilderness Redemption Tour

Chapter 68: Finding a New Camp

Lin Yan knew the seriousness of the incident without John's reminder. In the few days since he entered the game, his main activity area was near Valentine. Now that they were killing people on the street in Valentine, they naturally couldn't stay near this town for long.

Besides, the gang and Cornwall's company had a feud before. Now Cornwall has locked down the gang's range of activities and has come to the door, so the gang will naturally stay as far away as possible.

"Then we'll go first, be careful."

After saying that, Lin Yan quickened his horse's speed and headed straight for the Horseshoe Lookout Camp.

Under Lin Yan's constant urging, he and Sadie rushed back to the camp in just over ten minutes.

When he entered the camp, he didn't even get off his horse, but stopped directly in front of Dutch's tent.

Everyone in the camp was already nervous today. Seeing Lin Yan and Sadie's anxious looks, they all started asking:

"What happened, Jamie."

"Is that the Pinkerton detective coming this way?"

"Are we ready to fight?"

"Jamie, where's John? Didn't he go out with you guys?"

Before Lin Yan could answer, the tightly closed tent in front of him was opened, and Dutch, Hosea and Arthur came out one after another.

Da Qi stood between the two of them, pressed his hands down to signal everyone to be quiet, then he looked at Lin Yan and said in a deep voice: "Don't be impatient, kid, tell me slowly what happened."

Lin Yan's originally anxious mood was calmed down by Dutch's soothing. He got off the horse and told him exactly what happened in Valentine.

Abigail finally put her mind at ease when she heard that John was fine and was just a step behind them because of the horse.

"Cornwall? Who is Cornwall? Why is this guy looking for trouble with us?" Bill shouted at the top of his voice.

Lenny nudged him in the stomach with his elbow and whispered, "Have you forgotten that the train we robbed before we came here was his, the one where the explosives you fiddled with misfired."

"Hey! That was none of my business. It was obviously Arthur who didn't connect the wire properly..."

Bill wanted to continue speaking, but Dutch glared at him.

Seeing Bill shut up, Dutch turned his eyes away from him and looked at everyone. "Since Cornwall is also targeting us, we have to move. But don't worry too much. Since Cornwall only looked for us in Valentine, it means that he has not yet grasped our specific whereabouts. Hosea, Arthur and I just discussed it, and we decided to set up a new camp in the east, away from Valentine and New Hanover."

"Where is our new camp?" Sean asked curiously.

"As for the new camp, I was just about to send Arthur out to look for it." After saying that, Dutch looked at Arthur beside him.

"Arthur, find a few helpers and go now. Just as I told you just now, try to drive away all the people you find along the way so that the gang can move more easily."

Arthur nodded and agreed readily: "No problem."

Then he glanced at the people in the camp, and finally fixed his eyes on Charles.

"Charles," he called, "come with me."

"No problem." Charles nodded and turned to walk towards his horse.

Dutch waved to the others and said, "Everyone, don't just sit there. Pack your things and wait for Arthur to find a suitable place. We will set off immediately."

After hearing Dutch's instructions, Aunt Susan immediately took over the subsequent work and began to assign people to pack the tools and beds in the camp and load them onto the truck.

While everyone was evacuating, Lin Yan took Sadie to find Arthur who was about to leave. They were not interested in the chores in the camp, and they wanted to go out with Arthur to look for a new location for the camp.

After hearing the two's request, Arthur laughed and scolded, "I knew it."

Then, he waved to the two of them while sitting on his horse and said, "Get on the horse. I have something to ask you on the way."

After leaving the camp, led by Arthur, they walked south along the railway line for a while, and then followed the track to the east.

"Where are we going?" Charles asked after walking for a while.

"Micah told Dutch before that there's a good place in Dewberry Creek that's suitable for hiding. Even if nothing happens to Jamie and his crew this time, Dutch plans to let me walk along Dewberry Creek today to see if there's such a place."

"Did Micah say that? Even though I've only known him for a few months, I don't think he has any intention of going to that area. Instead, I think he would suggest to Dutch that they find a cave closer to Blackwater Town to hide."

"Ha, this is probably just Micah's wishful thinking. Dutch would never take us to hide in a place like a cave. This goes against his position. He used to say that only those despicable criminals would choose to hide in caves. Obviously, he never thought that we were that kind of people."

When Sadie heard this, she snorted disdainfully and said expressionlessly, "But what you did is what criminals would do."

Arthur did not deny what Sadie said. He responded half-jokingly, "Mrs. Adler, we all know this very well. You don't need to emphasize it."

After briefly talking about the destination of the mission and chatting for a while, Arthur began to ask Lin Yan about Leviticus Cornwall, including how he recognized them, what he said, and some of the circumstances of the battle.

Except for the part about the Eye of Death, Lin Yan answered these questions one by one.

Finally, Lin Yan concluded: "The gunmen in Cornwall were only concerned about John at the time, and had almost no defense against the counterattack launched by Sadie and me. I think this is the main reason why we were able to escape successfully."

Charles, who usually didn't communicate much with Lin Yan, commented after listening to him, "Being able to reverse the situation in just a few seconds is not just because the enemy was careless. This shows that your true strength is close to the top group in the West."

Arthur also spoke highly of it: "Yes, if it was me at that time, I'm not sure I would have done as well as you did."

Lin Yan chuckled twice and attributed half of the credit to Sadie and John, claiming that if they hadn't cooperated well, they would not have been able to evacuate so safely and quickly.

The four of them chatted as they headed east along the railway line. When they were about to reach a place marked as "Old Greenbank Mill" on the system map, Arthur slowed down his horse.

He pointed to the dry riverbed not far away and said, "This should be the end of Dewberry Creek. Let's find a place to go down to the riverbed and take a look."
