Chapter 22: Not a Very Good First Meeting with Ying
Gao Muming was suddenly dragged away and wanted to struggle, but Paimeng on the side consciously covered Gao Muming's mouth with her little hand.
After watching them go upstairs, Diluk gave Charles an order.
"You keep an eye on them. The poet is suspicious. I'm going to ask about the situation."
Charles withdrew his gaze and looked at Diluk.
"But I feel that the blonde girl is more suspicious based on her behavior just now."
Hearing Charles' words, Diluk looked at Charles with a very displeased look.
Charles, who was a little nervous because of Diluk's stare, hurriedly tried to make up for it.
"Who do you want to ask about the situation?"
Diluk replied calmly.
"Mondstadt's 'security guards'."
Charles stopped talking, but quietly came out from behind the bar, walked to the second floor and stared at Wendy and the others.
Just after Charles went upstairs, the door of the Angel's Tavern was pushed open again, and several Knights of Favonius rushed in.
The knight looked around the tavern and found only one table of drunkards, so he asked Diluk.
"Master Diluk, have you seen the two thieves, one yellow and one green?"
Hearing the question from the Knight of Favonius, Diluk narrowed his eyes slightly and asked for details with some curiosity.
"What happened? It's so late, and so many knights are dispatched."
Hearing Diluk's question, the Knight of Favonius naturally told Diluk the matter.
"Not long ago, those two thieves set their sights on the Sky Harp. They sneaked into the basement of the West Wind Cathedral at night and stole the Sky Harp enshrined there. That was Mondstadt's treasure that the Wind God used a thousand years ago."
Hearing what the Knight of Favonius said, Diluk touched his chin in surprise.
"This is really strange. Someone actually wants to take the Sky Harp. After all, the Sky Harp is more of a symbolic thing."
After hearing what Diluc said, the Knight of Favonius did not continue speaking in line with Diluc's words, but asked again about the whereabouts of the thief.
"We will know why they stole the Sky Harp once we catch the two thieves. Master Diluk, we just chased the two thieves and watched them enter the Angel's Gift from afar. Can you tell us where they went?"
Diluk nodded.
"Just now I was worrying about how to deal with the remaining drunks at the table, so I didn't pay much attention to the two people, one yellow and one green, who came in."
Diluk pointed to the side door of the tavern.
"They should have left from this side."
After receiving the news from Diluc, the Knight of Favonius saluted Diluc.
"Thank you, Master Diluk. Let's go."
Then he planned to follow the direction Diluk said.
"and many more."
Just as the Knights of Favonius were about to leave, Diluk called out to them.
"Since there are so many of you here, find a few people to take these drunks away. Otherwise, I will throw them out of the tavern and it will be your knights who will clean up the mess."
The Knights of Favonius looked at each other, then split into two teams. One team helped Diluk take the people away, while the other team continued to track in the direction Diluk pointed.
On the second floor of Angel's Gift, Gao Muming was controlled by Ying and Paimon. He could not make any sound and could only stare with wide eyes and silently accuse them.
After Diluk sent everyone out of the Angel's Gift and confirmed that Wendy was safe below, he led the way to the bar of the tavern.
Ying, who was relieved, also let go of Gao Muming at this time.
"What kind of unprovoked disaster is this?"
Gao Muming shouted wildly in his heart, then he distanced himself from Ying and the others with a wary look on his face and took a defensive posture.
"You are the one who committed such a serious crime in Mond. I am very strong. Don't think you can kill me easily."
As he spoke, Gao Muming moved towards the door, as if he wanted to run out and report to the Knights of Favonius.
Seeing Gao Muming's actions, Ying covered her forehead with some pain.
Paimon on the side was waving his hands, stamping his feet, and explaining impatiently.
"No, no, I won't silence you. Who would do such a terrible thing? And we didn't steal the Sky Harp. The real culprit is someone else."
Gao Muming had an expression on his face that said, "You can't fool me," and he agreed while backing away.
"Okay, I believe it. Then please explain why the Knights of Favonius believed that you were the ones who stole the Sky Harp and were hunted down, instead of someone else as you said? And how did you know it was someone else?"
Hearing what Gao Muming said, Paimon poked his fingers there embarrassedly and avoided the gaze.
"Well, actually we were going to steal the Sky Harp as well, but someone got there first and stole the Sky Harp right in front of us. The noise they made when they retreated alarmed the patrolling Knights of Favonius, and we were wanted as thieves who stole the Sky Harp."
After listening to this, Gao Muming stepped back a little further.
"You said you didn't want to silence me, but now you've told me your plan. You must want me to die knowingly, right? I warn you not to mess around. The Knight of Favonius hasn't gone far yet."
After hearing what Gao Muming said, Paimeng also had a headache. He turned around and spoke to Ying helplessly.
"Ying, you should explain it to him."
Just as Takagi Akira was confronting Ying, Diluk's voice rang out.
"Put down the wine you grabbed from behind the counter. And it's time for you to answer my questions."
Hearing the voice, Ying and Paimeng turned around, looked at Wendy speechlessly, and put down the bottle of wine they had just picked up with an embarrassed expression.
Seeing that everyone's eyes were on Diluk, Gao Muming walked quietly to the door, put one hand on the door handle, and prepared to take the opportunity to slip away.
Just then Diluk's voice sounded again.
"I advise you not to leave. You don't want your identity to be exposed. Why don't you meet your friends in the prison in Mondstadt?"
Hearing this, Takagi Akira retracted his hand that was on the door handle.
"There's no need to do this, Master Diluc? I just feel a little dizzy and want to go out for some fresh air."
Diluk glanced at Gao Muming, then turned his attention to Venti.
"I just learned about the thief from the guards. Let me make one thing clear. I admire you for being such a rare fool that you dared to steal the Sky Harp."
Hearing Diluk's words, Venti quickly spoke up.
"She's the Knights' new star. How could she possibly steal Mondstadt's holy relic? We just heard that someone was trying to steal the Sky Lyre, so we went to protect it."
After hearing Wendy's explanation, Ying and Paimon looked at Wendy with such an expression.
