Chapter 13: Legend of Zhen Huan - Nian Gengyao Extra 02

3. Zhen Huan

Zhen Huan didn't know what went wrong. She just showed off her literary talent during the palace selection, but the emperor and empress sitting above her directly scolded her.

Every word of the long paragraph of humiliating and degrading words pierced her heart, and in the end she was exiled to Ganlu Temple and became a nun.

Zhen Huan walked out of the palace in a trance. If it weren't for Sister Mei supporting her, she would have collapsed to the ground.

Not long after returning home, the Imperial Guards surrounded the Zhen Mansion, and the firecrackers prepared behind the gate were no longer useful.

Zhen Huan was escorted to Ganlu Temple to practice, while her father Zhen Yuandao was arrested and taken to Shuntian Prefecture on charges of harboring the daughter of a criminal. The daughter's child, Huanbi, was also taken away.

Mrs. Zhen was at a loss and could only watch her husband and eldest daughter being taken away. The young Zhen Yurao was frightened and cried by the scene.

When Zhen Huan arrived at Ganlu Temple, she found it to be a bitter and cold place. As a young lady who had never done any housework, she suffered a lot when she first arrived.

Her sister Mei was having a hard time in the palace and had no time to take care of her. Wen Shichu wanted to come and help her, but unfortunately there were imperial guards guarding outside Ganlu Temple and Wen Shichu could not enter.

The nun in the temple saw that she was abandoned by the royal family and thrown here to fend for herself. No one offered a helping hand. When the cold winter came, she and her maid Liuzhu caught a cold one after another and could not survive the first cold winter in Ganlu Temple.

Before her death, Zhen Huan had always hoped that her family would find a way to come to Ganlu Temple to take her home. Unfortunately, she didn't know that the Zhen family was no longer there. Her parents and sister were exiled to Ningguta, and their family was separated and would never meet again.

After Zhen Huan died, the guards reported the situation to the emperor. When Yongzheng learned that Zhen Huan was dead, he asked people to carefully confirm whether Zhen Huan was really dead. After getting the exact news, a huge stone fell from Yongzheng's heart. He waved his hand and asked the people guarding Ganlu Temple to come back.

4. Hongli

Ever since he was old enough to understand, Hongli had been neglected by his servants, looked down upon by outsiders, and even his own father, the emperor, disliked him.

A sense of ambition surged in the heart of the little Hongli. He wanted to climb higher and make everyone dare not look down on him anymore.

Unfortunately, he stayed in the Old Summer Palace for more than ten years and never had the chance to enter the palace.

After his father ascended the throne, he seemed to have forgotten him. Even though he became a prince, his life was the same as before, with no changes at all.

Those people would not compliment him just because he was a prince.

Tired of the cold stare, Hongli resorted to self-torture to make Emperor Yongzheng discover him. A few months later, Hongli was taken to the palace to study in the Shangshufang.

In the upper study room, there were only him and the third prince Hongshi. The third prince was stupid and the teacher was very disappointed with him. However, he was very satisfied with Hongli, who was hardworking and motivated.

This time, Hongli studied very hard and his results far surpassed Hongshi's. Unfortunately, he was still not favored by his father.

Until this day, the Queen's legitimate son Hongzhao entered the Shangshufang to study, and Hongli's nightmare began.

Hongzhao was of noble status, and his knowledge was far beyond the reach of Hongli and Hongshi.

Hongshi's biological mother was stupid and did not know how to educate her children. Hongli's biological mother was just a palace maid. Hongli did not go to the Shangshufang to study until he was a teenager. Only his academic performance could be compared with Hongshi's.

The Empress came from a prominent Manchu family and could teach Hongzhao a lot. However, her biological mother's family background alone was far beyond the reach of Hongshi and Hongli.

Under the halo of Hongzhao, Hongli and Hongshi became more and more inferior.

Hongli wanted to find a foster mother for himself, preferably a favorite concubine. Unfortunately, perhaps because he was unlucky, the several concubines he found all ended up having their own children, and none of them was willing to raise him.

He took an unconventional approach and did a stupid thing. He wanted to get rid of Hong Zhao and then put the blame on Hong Shi.

What he didn't know was that Hongzhao was the legitimate son, the crown prince whom his father valued and recognized. He was secretly protected by his father's men, and his every move was under his father's surveillance.

Naturally, Yongzheng discovered that Hongli wanted to deal with Hongzhao. Yongzheng disliked this son in the first place, and when he found out that Hongli wanted to harm his brothers and sisters, Yongzheng directly sent Hongli back to the Old Summer Palace and imprisoned him.

Hongli knew that his life was hopeless, and he became ill due to depression. He soon died in the Old Summer Palace.

Because the emperor and empress disliked him, he could not be buried in the imperial mausoleum after his death. He did not even have a proper funeral. He was just hastily buried in a random place.
