Chapter 30 Snowy Season Rail Patrol Boat Murder
(The previous chapter has been updated, please read it again if you haven’t seen it)
"Honkaimon? What is that? Is it a creature from your world, Ellie?"
Funina still remains quite curious about "mosquitoes".
"Yes, Honkai Beast was born with the outbreak of Honkai, bringing unimaginable disasters to people. Don't be anxious, Fufu. I will tell you the story of that world later."
Alicia touched Funina's head and spoke softly.
"What? Bring disaster? Then...then why did you release that breakthrough-level Honkai beast, Ellie?"
When Funina heard what Alicia said, her hair stood on end in fear.
"Don't worry. In this world, no one has a higher authority over Honkai than me. They are all under my control now, so nothing will go wrong."
Alicia also realized that her words had caused misunderstanding to Funina, so she quickly added some explanations.
Finina was relieved after hearing this, but she became even more curious about the identity of Alicia. Being able to control the Honkai beasts that brought disaster to the world before her, could it be that Alicia was the villain of the original world?
Funina didn't believe that Alicia was that kind of person. If Alicia was a bad guy, then there would be no good people in the world. But she was even more looking forward to the story of Alicia's world.
But Funina didn't want to ask any further questions. Thinking of the time when Alicia cried, it must not have been a happy memory for Alicia. Funina didn't want that expression to appear on that delicate face again.
However, when Alicia is willing to tell the story, she must be the first listener and share the sad memories with her.
"After all, a smile suits Ai Li better."
Thinking of this, Funina no longer worried about this issue, worried that Alicia would think of something sad again.
"Then I'm relieved, Ellie. Aren't you going to write The Sherlock Holmes Detective Collection? Go ahead and write. I'll be watching you write."
After saying that, he moved closer to Alicia and pulled her towards the table.
"Okay, okay, shall I start writing now?"
Alicia found Fernina's urging a little funny. She thought Fernina wanted to see how she could predict everything and see through everything in the article and show her supernatural powers.
So Alicia picked up Funina, put her in front of her and sat on the chair together, then she put her hands over Funina's shoulders and started writing on the paper.
As the first line of words appeared on the blank paper, Funina couldn't help but read it out softly.
"The Snow Patrol Boat Murder Case."
The prototype of this story is "Murder on the Orient Express", a work by Grandma Agatha, a suspense master in the Blue Star World. When Alicia first saw the adapted movie on Blue Star, she was deeply shocked and moved.
The story goes like this: a businessman on a train was stabbed to death by 12 knife wounds of varying depths and even in different dominant hands. Later, after investigation, it turned out that the deceased was a kidnapper. He kidnapped a little girl from a noble family and demanded a ransom, but after receiving the ransom, he still killed the little girl. As a result, the entire noble family died and committed suicide.
However, the kidnapper was not punished by law. He bribed the judge with money and was acquitted.
But what he didn't expect was that because the noble family was so kind, a group of people closely related to the noble family decided to take revenge on the kidnappers, and so they planned the murder together.
(Should I write a detailed version of the adaptation? I’m afraid someone will say I’m exaggerating the numbers.)
Following the tip of Alicia's pen, Funina's attention sank little by little into the confusing plot. Every time detective Holmes found a clue and was about to lock on a suspect, another person would provide an alibi for the suspect. This made Funina's emotions rise and fall with the advancement of the plot, because her clenched fists never loosened due to nervousness.
Until the end, the identities of all the people on the train were revealed one by one, and the truth of the case finally surfaced. It turned out that the murderer was not one person, but 12 people committed the crime together. Everyone present stabbed the deceased with hatred, which is why the depth of the deceased's wounds is not certain.
This also explains why whenever someone was suspected in the past, others would come to his defense, because they were all in the same group.
Funina was also shocked by the final truth. She didn't expect the case to be so exciting, nor did she expect these people to go to such lengths for revenge.
"Ellie, how did you come up with such a wonderful story?"
"Because I stand on the shoulders of giants?"
After hearing what Alicia said, Funina did not react, but thought of another thing.
"Ellie, what happened to these people?"
After hearing what Funina said, Alicia thought for a moment and asked.
"Fufu, do you think they did something wrong?"
"Of course they did something wrong. Killing people for any reason is wrong."
Alicia did not refute, but continued to ask.
"But Fu Fu, what if the law can't punish these bad guys?"
Finina did not speak, because she knew that these people were murderers. As the god of justice, she should bring them to justice. But as a human being, she understood why these twelve people would do such an extreme thing.
Seeing that Funina didn't reply, Alicia also knew what she was thinking.
"Then I will be the bad guy, right?"
Alicia's pen tip once again jumped on the paper.
Holmes found her assistant, Miss Pink Fairy, to discuss how to deal with these people. Seeing that Holmes was struggling between emotion and rationality, Miss Pink Fairy asked.
"Ms. Holmes, what do you think is justice?"
"The core of justice should be in line with people's pursuit of beauty. Justice recognized by the public is the real justice."
Holmes gave his answer without hesitation.
"Then Miss Holmes, in the hearts of the people of Fontaine, do these people's actions are correct?"
The small private room fell into silence.
The next morning, when the guards from the Court of Justice arrived, they asked Holmes this question.
"Ms. Holmes, as a famous detective in Fontaine, do you have any clues about the murderer of this murder?"
Holmes did not reply, but got off the boat and walked away silently, while the pink fairy lady beside her answered for her.
"No, I just know that the murderer jumped off the track and escaped last night..."
As Holmes walked in the snow, tears silently flowed from her eyes. The belief in laws and rules that she had upheld throughout her life was broken today.
