I almost touched the moon
Chapter 30 Lemon Madeleines
The moment he entered the door, Cheng Che smelled a sweet aroma, the aroma brought by the Maillard reaction after baking. It was somewhat incompatible with Wen Song, but it seemed even warmer on this sunny afternoon.
"What's that smell? It smells so good." While changing his shoes, he handed the paper bag and milk tea in his hand to Wen Song.
"I baked Madeleines." She took the bag and said with a smile, "It's almost done. Try them later."
Then he asked him, "What did you buy?"
Cheng Che took out the dessert from the bag and handed it to her, saying with a smile: "Keluli, when I went to buy milk tea, I happened to pass by a dessert shop, so I bought it for you. Do you like it?"
"I like it." Wen Song nodded, "My favorite is Kelulli."
She picked one up and took a bite. After chewing it carefully, she nodded and smiled in praise. "Not bad. Which store is it from? It tastes similar to La Toque Cuivrée. Don't you want to try it?"
Cheng Che shook his head and smiled without saying anything. He didn't like desserts, especially French desserts like croquembouche, which he thought were too sweet.
But seeing that Wen Song liked it, he hid a little trick: "I also forgot the name of the store, I just remember it is in Bahnhofstrasse. If you like it, tell me anytime you want to eat it, and I will buy it for you."
Wen Song gave him a meaningful look, but did not expose his clumsy lie. He just nodded and said, "Okay, thank you for your hard work."
"My pleasure." Cheng Che also smiled, and his eyes were full of affection when he looked at her.
"Ding Dong", it's the sound of the oven.
Wen Song felt his burning gaze and turned away embarrassedly, "I'll go to the kitchen, Madeleine is ready."
"Let me help you." Cheng Che followed behind her, and quickly walked forward with his long legs to take out the two plates of Madeleines from the oven before her.
The vanilla flavor is mixed with the refreshing lemon flavor, which is particularly sweet.
Wen Song placed the Madeleine on the cooling rack, turned around and asked the person next to him: "Which flavor do you prefer, vanilla or lemon?"
"I..." Cheng Che wanted to say, I don't like sweets, but when the words came to his lips, he swallowed them back, "It's all right, I like them all."
Wen Song picked up a still warm Madeleine and took a bite, then nodded with satisfaction, "I like lemon flavor."
He took another one and put it next to Cheng Che's mouth, "Try it too."
The sunlight coming in from the floor-to-ceiling windows just happened to shine on her hands, making her fair skin become somewhat transparent and her fingertips sparkling.
Cheng Che was stunned, and actually took a bite of the small cake in her hand. It was very sweet...really sweet, sweeter than he imagined. He savored the slightly sweet taste in his mouth, and the lemon fragrance surged on the tip of his tongue. It was delicious.
Wen Song didn't expect him to do such an intimate thing, and was a little at a loss, but when she raised her eyes, she saw Cheng Che's slightly red earlobes, smiling peach blossom eyes, thick and long eyelashes, high nose bridge, and the tip of his nose very close to her.
She suddenly had an impulse to stand on tiptoe and kiss the glowing boy in front of her.
Fortunately, her reason overcame the impulsiveness caused by the outbreak of hormones. She turned her head, picked up another piece of vanilla-flavored Madeleine and handed it to him, "Try this."
"Hmm." Cheng Che finished eating two pieces of cake and said with a smile, "Both are delicious, but the lemon flavor is better. I didn't know my sister can make desserts."
Wen Song was amused by his innocent look and said with a smile: "I like baking because it's simple and doesn't require much thinking."
"So that's why you like to read romance novels?" He laughed again. While taking care of her, he noticed that there were several romance novels with colorful covers on Wen Song's bedside, which really subverted his usual impression.
"Ah, my image is gone." Wen Song pretended to be annoyed, rolled his eyes and said unhappily, "So what? I'm usually so tired at school, so of course I just want to do something that doesn't require much brainpower during my break."
"Ok, I know."
Wen Song is a person who looks cold and indifferent, but actually has an ocean and grassland in her heart. She is simple-minded and doesn't like others to invade her life. Her heart is sometimes turbulent and sometimes sparkling.
Cheng Che looked at her lovingly and suddenly said, "Iseylia..."
"What's wrong?" she asked, looking up.
"It's okay..." He still hesitated. Now, it seemed too early. He didn't understand Wen Song's thoughts yet. He was afraid that with such a rash confession, they would not even be able to be friends.
As long as he could be with her, it would be fine, no matter what his identity was, he comforted himself.
Wen Song nodded, looked at him deeply, but said nothing.
Petty's cry broke the silence. Wen Song broke off a small piece of Madeleine and fed it to him, saying mischievously, "You can only eat a little bit, or my mother will scold me if she finds out."
Then he said to Cheng Che, "Let's have the rest as afternoon tea. You can eat more."
"Ah?" Cheng Che looked at the pile of Madeleines and smiled helplessly.
"Oh, sorry, I forgot. You're an athlete, so you should control your sugar intake." Wen Song said a little embarrassedly, "But there's nothing I can do. I'm just like that. Although I bake occasionally, I can't eat much after I'm done."
"It's okay." Cheng Che was afraid that she would be suspicious, so he grabbed another piece of lemon Madeleine and put it in his mouth. "It's delicious. I like it very much. Besides, it's okay to not control sugar for a day occasionally."
"Then I'll leave it to you." She smiled faintly, put the cooled Madeleine on the plate, and went back to the sofa and lay down.
Cheng Che sat next to her and suggested, "The weather is nice today, do you want to go sit by the lake or go hiking?"
"No." Wen Song stretched and played with his phone, saying lazily, "I went for a walk with Petty early this morning. I was so tired that I didn't want to go out. If you're bored, go by yourself."
"Then I'll accompany my sister." Cheng Che also lay down on the sofa with her. Compared to the usually aloof and calm Wen Song, he liked her more now, lazy and casual, like a sleepy cat.
"Can you ride a horse?" Wen Song suddenly turned around and asked him.
"Yes." Cheng Che nodded, "But I can't ride it well."
"That's fine." Wen Song said to him with a smile, "Then let's go horseback riding tomorrow afternoon. There happen to be two horses in the stable at home."
"Okay." Cheng Che agreed immediately and said to her, "Sister, don't worry about me. You should have a good rest."
"Yeah." She nodded and yawned, "I'm not sleepy, I'm just very tired."
"How about I help my sister walk Petty tomorrow morning?" Cheng Che asked tentatively.
"No thanks." She smiled and shook her head to refuse, "It's too much trouble for you. It has to go early in the morning."
"It's okay." Cheng Che signaled that she didn't need to feel embarrassed. "I go running every morning anyway, so this can just be considered exercise."
After hearing what he said, Wen Song couldn't help but look at him a few more times. He had to admit that he had a really good figure. He said with some emotion: "As expected of a young man, he is full of energy."
"You're not much older than me..." Cheng Che muttered unconvinced.
"I'm two years older than you. I was born in the year of the tiger." She thought of the time when she saw Cheng Che's Swiss residence card. He was exactly two years younger than her. But, with just that one glance, she remembered his birthday firmly in her heart.
"What about your birthday?" Cheng Che asked unconvinced.
"May 11th."
"Scorpio..." Cheng Che said subconsciously.
"Yes, that's why I hold a grudge. Don't mess with me." She said deliberately.
"No..." He calculated in his mind again and said even more unconvincedly, "How can that mean he is two years older than me? At most, it's only one year, four months and five days."
"You're good at math." Wen Song was amused by his serious look and reached out to touch his head, just like he was touching Petty. "But even if you're one day older, you're still my sister, not to mention that I'm one year, four months and five days older than you."
"Wen Song!" Cheng Che's heart beat fast because of her actions. He subconsciously called out her full name and widened his eyes. What? Did she treat him as Petty? He didn't expect that his angry and round eyes and his grumpy look made him look more like a puppy in Wen Song's eyes.
"Hmm? What's the matter?" Wen Song was still looking at him, with the corners of his lips slightly raised, as if smiling.
"No, nothing..." Cheng Che didn't dare to look at her fox-like eyes again, and stood up from the sofa, "I'll go make two cups of tea, what do you want to drink?"
"Oolong is fine."
When sending Wen Song home after walking the dog in the evening, Cheng Che once again suggested that he walk Petty in the morning. Wen Song agreed, but felt that it was too tiring for Cheng Che to come to her house so early in the morning, so she asked him to stay at home.
"It's okay. This isn't a good idea. It's not far. It only takes me about ten minutes to drive here." Although Cheng Che wanted to stick with her all the time, he still felt something was wrong.
"It's okay." Wen Song has been abroad for many years and doesn't think there's anything wrong with letting him live at home. It's just that they live in the same house, not in the same room. "There are so many rooms in my house, you can live wherever you want."
"Well... no, it won't be good for my sister if other people find out." He still refused.
"Huh?" Wen Song thought this reason was a little funny, but also a little cute. Seeing that he was cautious and serious, he stopped forcing him and just said to him, "Then I'll send you a 24-hour door lock code. When you come tomorrow, just open the door and take Petty out. I'm sure I'll still be asleep."
She was not an imprudent person, but she was willing to tell Cheng Che the password to her home door. In addition to her trust in him, she also had a little selfish motive.
"Okay." Cheng Che nodded, "Don't worry, sister. I won't tell anyone."
"Of course I trust you." Wen Song's tone was teasing, "Do you think I would tell the door password to anyone?"
“No, that’s not what I meant…” Cheng Che really couldn’t stand being teased. With just this one sentence, his face turned red again.
"I know." Wen Song looked at him and smiled, "Go back quickly, see you tomorrow."
"Yeah." He waved at her, "Bye, sister. See you tomorrow."
