Chapter 34 Don't Always Talk About Death

After Cheng Che drove out of Wen Song's house, he did not go home. Instead, he parked on the side of the road and sat in the car alone.

As the sun was setting, he looked at the red sun gradually sinking over the surface of Lake Zurich not far away, thinking carefully about Wen Song's reaction and Lawyer Wen's words.

So, who was the last person? Could the person of the opposite sex that Wen Song brought home really be just an ordinary friend?

He thought about when he looked through Wen Song's Instagram yesterday. Among her posts, apart from travel photos, Petty, her photos, and photos with friends, the most common one was that of an e-sports player named Skyline.

She really posted a lot of posts, from five years ago until March this year. In January and April of each year, she would post a cheering photo to wish the contestant a happy debut and a happy birthday. Others were from various competitions, where she congratulated him on winning the championship or thanking him for his hard work.

As an athlete over the years, he has some fans and naturally knows that fans will post content related to him on social media, but he never takes the initiative to look at it, and even if he does see it, he will not interact.

But that contestant was different. He liked every post about him posted by Wen Song. His intuition told him that maybe it wasn't that simple...

He clicked on the contestant's homepage and found that he had posted a tattoo in early May, a tattoo of Pluto.

"My favorite is Pluto"…

So, is it just a coincidence?

His heart beat faster and faster, and he felt curious and uneasy as if he was spying on a secret. Although he didn't see any photos of them together on their Instagram page, and the only interaction was just liking and a few encouraging comments posted by Wen Song, it couldn't be more normal. But the uneasiness in his heart became more and more serious...

Suddenly, he saw a photo of a Samoyed on that person's homepage, a Samoyed that looked very, very much like Petty, or it could be said that they were exactly the same.

Even the location of that post was R?sslipark, a place he was very familiar with, where he and Wen Song walked the dog every night.

He translated the caption of the post, "I happened to meet a very cute puppy." Was it really just an encounter... could it be such a coincidence?

"Could it be him..." he asked himself, and searched for news about Skyline on Twitter. The first piece of news was that he was photographed having dinner with a popular female idol, and they were suspected to be in a relationship.

So... Cheng Che smiled self-deprecatingly. Wen Song’s unhappiness today was probably due to seeing this news.

However, Cheng Che couldn't help but think that Wen Song once told him that she used to be a fan of a Korean star, but later she stopped being a fan. It seems that it was Skyline.

"It should just be an ordinary relationship between fans and idols. With the popularity of that contestant, if Sister Wen Song really had something with him, it would have been on the news a long time ago." He comforted himself, put down his phone, leaned his head against the back of the chair, and rubbed his dizzy head...

A young and beautiful girl appeared in front of him, leading a white Samoyed. He immediately opened the car door and got out.

"A Che!" Wen Song showed a delighted expression when he saw him, and walked quickly to his side. "I was just wondering why you parked your car here, and I thought I saw it wrong."

She smiled like a flower and called him "A Che" in a sweet voice.

"I must be overthinking..."

Thinking this, Cheng Che took the leash from her, then took her right hand and interlocked their fingers.

"I wanted to go home, but I remembered that my sister hasn't walked the dog yet, so I'm waiting for you here."

"Thank you." Wen Song looked at him with tears in her eyes, "Let's go, the sunset is just right now, it's the most beautiful."

Why did she want to cry? Was it because she was worried that he would get angry and leave, but she couldn't believe it when she saw his car on the side of the road? Or was it because of the surprise she felt when he got out of the car, walked quickly to her and held her hand?

"Yeah." Cheng Che nodded, took her hand, walked with her to the edge of Lake Zurich, and strolled along the lakeside.

"It was cloudy in the afternoon, but the weather is nice now." Wen Song walked slowly, his right hand tightly held by Cheng Che, feeling very warm.

"Yes." Cheng Che looked at the lake with golden ripples. Several swans were playing on the lake, so leisurely.

Not far away, someone was playing the violin by the lake, Bach's A minor concerto. Many pedestrians stopped to listen, and Wen Song also listened quietly. She was not a person with musical talent, but she loved Bach's violin music.

"Sister, do you like Bach?" Cheng Che asked.

"Well, mainly because I like the violin." Wen Song nodded.

He then said with some self-mockery: "I learned it when I was a kid, but I scared the teacher away."

"Let's go to a concert together next time," Cheng Che suggested, "when you are free."

"Okay."

When the song ended, the crowd applauded and praised. The sun was setting, and there were musicians playing the violin, swans playing in the Zurich Lake, and pedestrians running by the lake. Petty ran and played on the grass, chasing and playing with other puppies.

Wen Song and Cheng Che stood hand in hand by the lake, chatting idly, or saying nothing and just watching the sun sink into the lake quietly, leaving only the dark orange afterglow and the golden light rolling on the lake.

“People from other places often say that Switzerland is a place with beautiful mountains and rivers but also boring,” Wen Song said. “But I feel that Zurich makes me more comfortable than other big cities. I don’t like places that are too urbanized, and I don’t like places with a lot of people even more.”

"I don't like it either." Cheng Che agreed with her words. "When I first came to Zurich, I was very irritable every day because of the pressure of studying. At that time, I liked running along Lake Zurich. When I saw the sunset, I felt that everything was still beautiful."

"But I have to go back to Munich tomorrow." Wen Song sighed, somewhat reluctantly. "After I go back, I will have to go to three or four places every day. I have to organize and analyze the observation data next week. It's so annoying... I'm so annoyed. I don't want to live anymore. I'd rather die."

"Sister." Cheng Che frowned, "Don't always talk about death, it's unlucky..."

"Ah? You're just like my grandma, too picky." Wen Song didn't take it seriously. He stretched and sat down on the grass. "To be honest, I think I've had everything and experienced everything in my life. It doesn't matter if I die."

"That's not the way to say it..." Cheng Che's tone was filled with sadness that was hard to conceal, "There are many people who desperately want to survive, but they don't have the chance."

Wen Song said, "I know, but what does it have to do with me if other people are trying their best to survive? When I think about the pile of data I have to analyze on Tuesday and maybe even the astronomical survey, I want to die."

"Don't say that..." Cheng Che also sat beside her and held her hand tightly, causing her wrist to hurt. "Don't say that..."

Wen Song laughed, "What's the big deal? Everyone is going to die."

"You can't die..." Cheng Che actually cried as he spoke, "Anyway, you can't die..."

Wen Song was a little frightened by his reaction. When he looked up, he found tears in his eyes. He quickly took out a tissue to wipe his tears and coaxed him while wiping: "Why are you crying again? Why are you crying for no reason? What's there to cry about?"

"Wuwuwu." Cheng Che's eyes were filled with tears. He looked at him pitifully and said, "Sister Wensong, you are not allowed to die..."

"Okay, okay." Wen Song didn't know whether to laugh or cry, so he could only coax him and say, "As long as I don't die, I will be immortal."

"You lied to me again!" Cheng Che's eyes became even more tearful after hearing her words. He took the tissue from her hand and wiped his tears.

"I'm not lying to you." Wen Song said seriously, "We fairies are immortal."

He finally burst into laughter, looked at Wen Song and said seriously: "So, please stop talking about death, okay, fairy?"

"Okay." Wen Song agreed and patted his head. "You are such a little kid. You cried for no reason."

"I'm not a child..." Cheng Che muttered unconvinced.

"Only children cry when the subject of life and death is brought up."

Wen Song thought of what he had just said and asked, "Cheng Che, what do you mean I lied to you again? When have I ever lied to you?"

"You're not lying to me. Do you have a boyfriend in Korea?" Cheng Che asked back.

Wen Song chuckled, "That's because I didn't know it was you. I thought it was some ordinary man without a mirror at home who came to ask about me."

"What if it's me?" Cheng Che asked again.

"If it were you..." Wen Song already had the answer in his mind, but he still pretended to think about it and thought carefully for a long time.

"If it were you, I would definitely tell you directly that I don't have a boyfriend and have always been single."
