Harry Potter: Glory Bows to Me
Chapter 232 Love can become a person's weakness
Ever since Snape's sharp words pierced Amanta's heart that night, the delicate atmosphere between her and Draco had been lingering in the air like an undercurrent.
None of them mentioned what happened that day, but the secret feelings were like forbidden seeds, quietly taking root and could not be ignored.
Amanta often thought of Snape's words - the assertion that love could be a weakness.
She had always believed that she was a rational person, and that immersing herself in the mysteries of magic was enough to allow her to avoid the shackles of worldly emotions.
But recently, she discovered that her heart was not as cold and hard as she thought.
love……?
This word confused her and even frightened her.
-
In the Slytherin common room at night, she sat on the single sofa by the window. The bottom of the Black Lake outside the window reflected the moonlight, and the silver waves were rippling.
Draco walked quietly to her side and took the "History of Magic" from her hand. His tone was gentle, but with a hint of his usual pride.
"When you read these things, your brows are always furrowed, as serious as if you were participating in a duel."
Amanta was slightly startled, then raised her head and met his blue-gray eyes.
The look was complex and focused, like a test, but also like it hid too many emotions.
"I..." She tried to say something, but found her throat was a little tight.
Draco bent down and gently brushed the crumbs from the corner of her lips.
His fingertips were cold, but when they touched her skin she felt a strange warmth spreading from the bottom of her heart.
"Amanta," he said in a low voice, as if afraid of disturbing something, "Did you know that when you are in a daze, your eyes will be much softer than usual?"
Amanta froze.
She knew she should say something, or just push him away coldly.
However, at that moment, she could not move and could only stare at him blankly.
He was so close that she could feel his breath on her cheek.
……
She finally pushed him away, her tone more harsh than expected: "Thank you, Draco, but I don't like others doing these little things for me."
She lowered her head, not daring to look at the disappointment in his eyes. She just packed up her books in a hurry and almost ran away from the common room.
That night, she tossed and turned, replaying his eyes in her mind.
That shade of blue-gray was no longer as cold as before, but rather full of warmth, like an ice lake about to melt in the spring.
He was not the conceited and arrogant Master Malfoy in the eyes of outsiders, but he was sincere and vulnerable, as if waiting for her response.
But she was... totally unprepared.
The next morning, Draco was still sitting opposite her. The atmosphere at the table was eerily quiet. Amanta was concentrating on cutting bread, but her heart was in chaos.
She didn't know how to face it, nor did she know what she was afraid of.
She thought it over and decided to talk to Luna.
Luna's world is always out of the ordinary, and her innocence and intuition may give her a suitable answer.
-
After the Defense Against the Dark Arts class, Amanta hurried to the lawn outside the castle. The sunlight shone through the shadows of the trees onto the grass. Luna was skipping towards her, holding a parasite with strange leaves in her hand.
"Amanta, what do you want from me?"
Luna's voice was as soft as a wind chime, with her usual ethereal temperament.
"It's...some recent things."
Amanta hesitated to speak, but didn't know how to put it.
Luna blinked and looked her over, her tone serious but gentle.
"I think you are worried. Is there something bothering you?"
Amanta nodded, then shook her head, and finally took a deep breath.
"Luna, what do you think...love is?"
Luna tilted her head and thought for a moment, a trace of confusion in her eyes.
"Love...it is a lot of strange things. Maybe it's like a flying bird in the night sky. It can't be seen, but it can take you far away. Maybe it's like an ancient parasite, clinging to branches, but it blooms the most beautiful flowers."
"Hmm... sounds beautiful."
Amanta tried to grasp the point of this sentence, but finally gave up.
She chose another question.
"Luna, don't you think..." Amanta paused and lowered her voice a little, "Can love become a person's weakness?"
Luna smiled, her smile carrying a kind of indifference that seemed to show she knew everything.
“Weaknesses are part of being human. A person without weaknesses is like a puppet without a soul, just an empty shell.”
Amanta was stunned.
Luna's answer was unexpected, but it made her feel vaguely that she seemed to have grasped something.
"So," Luna continued, "if you're afraid that love will make you weak, then think about it. It might make you stronger, because when you really care about someone, you'll find that you can do many things that were originally impossible."
These words were like sunshine shining through the fog, finally loosening the knot in Amanta's heart.
But she still couldn't be sure what her feelings for Draco were.
After saying goodbye to Luna, Amanta walked alone by the lake.
The water reflected the sky, so calm that it could almost reflect her heart.
She tried to sort out her emotions, but the complex feelings were like the multiple ingredients in a potion, mixed together and difficult to distinguish.
She touched her chest, the strange heat had not yet completely subsided.
Maybe she should try to accept her feelings instead of running away from them.
Just then, familiar footsteps came from behind.
She turned around and it was indeed Draco.
He stood in the light of the setting sun, his hair dyed a brilliant gold, his facial expression still as stern as usual.
But Amanta could see that there was a hint of hesitation, even nervousness, in his eyes.
"Amanta," Draco began quietly, his tone more gentle than usual, "I... want to talk to you."
She didn't respond, just looked at him quietly.
The light from the lake surface reflected in his eyes, sparkling.
"I don't know how to put it, but..." Draco took a deep breath and looked directly at her, "I just want to tell you that I won't force you, but I won't give up either."
Amanta's heartbeat suddenly quickened, her lips opened slightly, but no sound came out.
"You don't have to answer me, not now or ever."
Draco's voice was low, but it carried an irresistible firmness.
"But no matter what, I'll always be here."
After he finished speaking, he turned and left, leaving only a few words so soft that they were almost inaudible: "Don't be afraid, Amanta."
The wind blew gently by the lake, bringing the sound of birds singing in the distant woods.
Amanta stood there, quietly looking at his back, and the chaotic emotions in her heart gradually became clear.
Love... can it really be a weakness?
Maybe it doesn't matter anymore.
All she knew was that this feeling made her no longer alone, and that... maybe that was enough.
