Harry Potter: Glory Bows to Me

Chapter 262 Planting a seed of doubt

The Slytherin corridor was dark and silent. The dim kerosene lamps cast flickering shadows on the wall. The air was filled with a faint damp smell, carrying the unique dullness of the Black Lake.

Amanta sat quietly on the bench, her fingers gently stroking the pages of the open book, but her eyes did not really fall on the words.

She had been flipping through the book for a long time but hadn't read a single word.

Julius' voice lingered in her mind, tangling her thoughts and making it impossible for her to ignore it.

"Who is more important to Draco, family or you?"

"Harry doesn't seem like a true Slytherin, he won't support your ambitions."

"Will they really always be on your side?"

She pursed her lips slightly, and the uneasiness in her heart gradually rose, as if being pulled by an invisible silk thread, tightening little by little.

Will they?

Can she trust them completely?

She wanted to find out.

But she wouldn't ask directly.

Julius's words might have been meant to be provocative, but she couldn't deny that she had those doubts herself.

Footsteps came from the other end of the corridor, the familiar steps were slow yet powerful.

Amanta looked up and saw Draco walking towards her.

The silver badge on his chest gleamed slightly, and his Slytherin robes swayed gently with his steps, as elegant as usual, but his eyes were full of inquiry.

"Why are you here alone?" He stopped beside her and leaned over slightly, his blue-gray eyes shining slightly in the dim light. "You look... not right."

Amanta closed the book, her fingertips still lingering on the cover, and said in a light tone: "There are some things I'm thinking about."

Draco raised an eyebrow and sat down next to her, leaning slightly towards her, as if waiting for her to continue.

Amanta was silent for a moment, then whispered: "You know, Draco... sometimes, I feel that we all live by rules."

Draco was slightly startled, as if he was not expecting her to say this suddenly.

"Rules?" He asked in a subtle tone, "What exactly do you want to say?"

Amanta smiled softly, her eyes obscure: "I want to change some things, but I'm not sure how the people around me will see it."

She did not mention her ambition directly, but instead threw the question to him in a more obscure way.

Draco's eyes suddenly became sharper, and he tapped his fingers on the edge of the bench, and said calmly: "Amanta, what do you want to change?"

She did not answer directly, but slowly raised her eyes and looked at him.

"What if one day, I do something that you can't accept?"

Draco's eyes narrowed slightly.

The air between them stagnated for a moment.

"What exactly are you testing?" His tone became lowered, as if he finally realized the deep meaning of her words.

Amanta didn't look away, her tone remained calm: "I just want to know...if one day, I choose a very dangerous path, will you stop me?"

Draco stared at her, his knuckles tightening slightly, and the emotions in his chest surged for a moment.

"Amanta, I am the heir to the Malfoy family."

His tone was light, yet it contained an indescribable heaviness.

"There are some things I can't stay out of."

Amanta's heart sank slightly, and her fingertips tightened almost imperceptibly for a moment.

He didn't answer directly.

He neither said he supported nor opposed it.

what does this mean?

It means that he will not stand against her, but he will not support her unreservedly either.

He still had the Malfoys to consider.

Julius' words echoed in her ears once again.

"Who is more important to Draco, family or you?"

She took a slow breath and calmly looked away.

Just then, a brisk voice sounded from the other end of the corridor.

"Why are you two sneaking around here again?"

Harry's voice held a familiar teasing tone.

He took a few steps closer, his black hair softened by the light of the kerosene lamp, and his green eyes still clear in the dim environment.

But when he saw that Amanta looked a little cold, his smile faded a little.

"Amanta, what happened?"

Amanta looked at him with calm eyes, but there was a slight ripple in her heart.

Where is Harry?

Will he fully support her?

"Nothing." She said calmly, her voice devoid of any extra emotion.

Harry frowned and glanced at Draco, obviously noticing the silence between them, and then sat down opposite her without any hesitation.

"Hey, don't I know you? You have something on your mind." He spoke directly, his tone carrying his usual straightforwardness, "If you don't want to say it, forget it, but don't pretend nothing's wrong."

Amanta tilted her head slightly and squinted at him.

Harry is always like this, he doesn't like to beat around the bush and his intuition is extremely sharp.

She stroked her fingers gently on the pages of the book, and finally spoke softly: "Harry, tell me...if one day I want to do something very dangerous, will you stop me?"

Harry was slightly stunned, then answered without hesitation: "Of course!"

He looked at her as if it was a matter of course, as if it didn't require any thought at all.

"But if—" she paused, looking at him sharply, "I have to do it?"

Harry's smile faded a little and his brows furrowed slightly, obviously aware of the weight of her words.

He was silent for a few seconds, then shrugged, his tone casual but a little serious: "It depends on what you want to do."

He paused, then looked her in the eye calmly: “Amanta, of course I’m on your side, but if what you’re doing is wrong, I won’t blindly support you.”

Amanta's fingertips tightened, and her heart involuntarily contracted for a moment.

This was the first time she noticed—

Their position is not necessarily absolute.

At this moment, Julius' words completely took root in her mind.

"Try and see how they react, Amanta."

"Look at how much they support you."

Amanta slowly lowered her eyes, hiding the emotions in them.

Her test had been answered.

Draco had concerns, he wouldn't stand by her regardless.

Harry's sense of justice prevented him from unconditionally supporting her choice.

They all stood by her, but they all had their own boundaries.

She couldn't be sure - when that day really came, whether they would stand by her side without hesitation.

She never thought that she would care about this issue.

But now, she began to waver.

This time, Julius successfully planted a seed of doubt in her heart.
