In November 1949, in the parallel universe of Sijiu City, at No. 11 Nanluoguxiang, in a three-courtyard quadrangle with a back garden, 40-year-old Li Zihang was playing with a group of friends on an abandoned rockery when he accidentally slipped and fell from the 3-meter-high rockery.

Li Zihang fell to the ground and lost consciousness. Soon, blood soaked the soil. The eight-year-old Yan Jiecheng next to him was so scared that he yelled and called for adults to come. The nearest gatekeeper heard the noise and Li Zihang's grandfather ran over.

When Mr. Li saw his only grandson fall like this, he quickly picked up his grandson and ran to the gate next to his own cart. Then he called his wife who heard the noise and ran over, sat on the cart and held Li Zihang. With his wife calling "my grandson" repeatedly, Li Zihang's grandfather pulled the cart and took his grandson to the hospital.

Other neighbors who came over hurriedly asked what happened. After hearing what happened from the children who were playing together, they sighed and worried.

Li Zihang, who had just woken up in the hospital bed of Beijing City, looked at the ceiling dazedly. Before he could recover, a wave of memories suddenly came into his mind, and scenes of memories flashed by like slides. His eyes turned white and he fainted again. The two elderly people who were watching over him just found that their grandson had opened his eyes, but before they could be happy, they saw their grandson's eyes turn white and fainted again. The frightened elderly couple quickly called a doctor.

The doctor who came over checked for a while and then comforted the old couple and said

"Don't worry, old comrades. The fact that the child has woken up means that it's not a serious matter. We will keep a close eye on the child. If you two find any problems with the child, please notify us immediately."

After saying that, he left. Little did he know that Li Zihang, who had fainted, was still integrating the sealed memories of another life.

After two days of lying in bed, Li Zihang finally integrated the memories of his previous life. He recalled that he was born in Chongqing in the 2s in Greater China. At the age of 80, he followed his uncle to Beijing. After nearly 19 years of hard work, he finally had his own house within the 20th ring road of the old city and a family. He had only lived for a few years with his wife and children. On the way back to his community because he was drinking with a client, his legs went weak and his head hit the steps and he died.

When I recalled my current memories, I realized that I didn't have many memories. I only remembered my grandparents, not my parents. I lived in Nanluoguxiang, had a few playmates, and other bits and pieces of memories. It makes sense, a 5-year-old child has only been able to remember things for less than 2 years, how could he have so many memories?

Li Zihang weakly called out habitually, "Milk! I'm thirsty."

The old lady who was guarding the bedside, instantly perked up when she heard her grandson's call. She quickly asked, "My dear grandson, what did you say?" Li Zihang looked at the haggard grandmother and said weakly, "Grandma, drink some water."

The old lady picked up the bamboo kettle with an inner pot placed on the bedside of the hospital and said softly, "My dear grandson, grandma will pour you some tea now."

After that, she began to pour water into the white enamel cup. She poured a cup of water to the bottom, and then blew into the enamel cup again and again. The old lady tried to take a sip of the water and found that it was not hot. Then she carefully sat on the bed and half-hugged Li Zihang to feed him water.

"My dear grandson, don't move around in bed after you finish drinking the water. I'll call the doctor to come and check you out. Don't be afraid, my dear grandson. I'll be back soon."

Li Zihang's grandmother talked to him while feeding him water. After drinking the water, Li Zihang replied to his grandmother: "Grandma, I understand."

After putting down the cup of water, the old lady gently placed Li Zihang on the hospital bed, and then hurriedly went to call a doctor.

While the old lady went to call the doctor, Li Zihang looked around the ward. Looking at the decoration and layout of the big hospitals in the Republic of China period in the movie, he wondered in his heart what time period he was in. Looking at the ward with only two beds and the furnishings next to it, it must be a high-end ward. He thought that he must be from a powerful family, at least a rich family. Otherwise, he could not live in this ward.

Thinking back to the pitiful memories in my mind, I couldn't figure out why I lived in a compound. Looking at the middle-aged man lying unconscious on the bed next to me with his head wrapped in gauze, I couldn't figure out why. After a while, the old lady came back with a white coat.

The doctor examined Li Zihang with a stethoscope, asked some questions, and then said to the old lady, "Old comrade, your grandson is fine. If you are worried, stay in the hospital for another day for observation. If he is fine, he can be discharged."

After hearing what the doctor said, the old lady hurriedly thanked him. Li Zihang listened to the conversation between the two and wondered what year it was! How come the doctor couldn't even speak Mandarin well, speaking the Mandarin of the Huizhou and northern Anhui regions?

And the words you can see in the hospital are all traditional Chinese characters. Could it be that it is still the Republic of China period? After the doctor left, the old lady looked at her silly grandson and wondered if he had fallen on his head and became stupid.

She asked softly, "My dear grandson, are you hungry? Or are you feeling unwell somewhere? Your grandpa will go to his store at noon to bring food to grandma and will be back in a while. Grandma can ask her own store to bring you whatever you want to eat."

Li Zihang answered in the words of a 5-year-old child, thinking about how to get his grandmother to suspect him and get what he wanted. After chatting for a few minutes, Li Zihang, who was too hungry to bear it, asked his grandmother if she had anything to eat.

Before he finished speaking, his grandfather came in carrying a mahogany lacquer lunch box. When Mr. Li saw his grandson wake up, his eyes were red and he shed a few tears. He walked to the bedside tremblingly, put down the lunch box and held Li Zihang's little hand.

He said tremblingly, "Grandson! You finally woke up. You almost scared me to death. How would I live if you were gone?"

Li Zihang couldn't help crying when he saw this scene and said in his childish voice: "Grandpa, Zihang will never be naughty again and I won't make you and grandma worry. Don't cry."

The two old people couldn't hold back their tears after hearing this. The old man just heard his grandson crying out for hunger, so he quickly opened the lunch box and took out the millet porridge and chicken soup in the copper-filled wooden barrel, and fed Li Zihang with a small spoon. What Li Zihang didn't know was that the chicken soup and millet porridge were prepared by the old man every day when he sent meals to his wife.

I was afraid that my grandson would be hungry and have nothing to eat when he woke up. As the housekeeper of a wealthy family, how could the old man not know what a patient who had been in a coma for several days eat? So he always prepared food. When the porridge and chicken soup got cold, he would take them home and heat them up. Then he would let his wife eat them and then make new soup. He did this for two days in a row.

In the boring afternoon, a doctor came to the hospital to talk to the old man and told him that he could discharge Li Zihang.

The old man originally wanted his grandson to stay in the hospital for another day for observation, but he learned that a Red Turban Party cadre was seriously injured while arresting a Guo Party spy and was in critical condition. He asked the old man to come and handle the discharge because he needed a bed.

The old man immediately arranged for his grandson to be discharged from the hospital. In this way, Li Zihang was discharged from the hospital with a shaved head and a scar.
