Rebirth of the Republic of China: The Story of the Chaebol
Chapter 243 South China Horse Racing
Nanhua's football industry is booming.
The basketball industry is not far behind. After all, these two sports have been developed in South China for almost the same length of time, and the support provided by the South China Sports Department to these two sports is basically the same.
In addition, the popularity of basketball and football in the country is basically the same, so for a long time, these two sports have been competing for the title of the number one sport in South China.
Compared with these two major balls, volleyball is not as well known in South China.
In terms of football, the national football teams of Nanhua, Xihua and Anhua are consistently ranked among the top 15 in the world, especially Nanhua and Xihua, which are consistently ranked among the top 10 in the world and are very competitive.
As for basketball, the South China men's basketball team, the U.S. men's basketball team and the Russian men's basketball team are the three poles of the basketball world. The three countries have won and lost against each other in international competitions, but overall, the South China men's basketball team still has a certain advantage.
With the rapid development of football and basketball, volleyball, which is less entertaining, does not have such a large audience in South China.
Nanhua has also thought about supporting the domestic volleyball league, but there are really not many people who like this sport. On the contrary, beach volleyball, which is derived from volleyball, is very popular in Nanhua.
After all, South China has the longest coastline in the world, and people are willing to go to the beach to relax during holidays, which has made beach volleyball in South China gradually become a popular sport.
Volleyball failed to develop, but tennis, a sport that South China did not pay much attention to, gradually began to be accepted by South China people.
Especially after South China won the bid to host Grand Slam events and Masters Tournaments, more and more people in South China began to like this sport.
However, no matter how tennis develops, this sport is still considered a niche sport in South China.
In today's South China, football, basketball, racing and horse racing are the four most influential events.
The South Chinese people have a long tradition of liking horse racing, dating back to the Western Hua Kingdom period. At that time, there were racecourses everywhere in the country and all kinds of horse racing events were rampant.
Later, when the South China Empire was established, the government set up a horse racing association, which helped to normalize the domestic horse racing industry. However, even so, there were still tens of thousands of horse racing competitions of all sizes within South China.
It was not until the last twenty years, after continuous regulation and the establishment of one horse club after another, that the domestic horse racing industry gradually got on the right track.
Today, there are 13 Class A jockey clubs, 18 Class B jockey clubs, 30 Class C jockey clubs and 370 Class D jockey clubs under the Jockey Club Association in South China.
The review standards for Class A Jockey Clubs are very high. Firstly, the Jockey Club needs to have certain fixed assets. Large racecourses and hotels are indispensable. At the same time, the Jockey Club also needs to have enough members, and the senior members of the Jockey Club also need to have a certain social influence.
In addition, Class A Jockey Clubs are required to own at least three large horse farms and a certain number of horse trainers and veterinarians.
In addition to the above hard requirements, the Jockey Association actually has some other small requirements, but compared to the above, the remaining small requirements are not a big problem.
With the qualification of a Class A Jockey Club, the Jockey Club will be eligible to hold Class A horse racing competitions, and a rider and horse want to qualify to participate in the annual King's Cup New Year Tour Grand Prix.
As the most influential and largest horse racing event in South China, this event not only has huge prize money, but also if you can get a good name in this competition, it will greatly increase the value of the jockey and the horse.
The reason why the places in the Class A Jockey Clubs are precious is that the top three places in the events organized by the thirteen Class A Jockey Clubs have the qualification to directly enter the Grand Prix Tour. Apart from this direct entry into the Grand Prix Tour, the remaining contestants can only rely on the accumulation of points.
The four levels of competitions not only have different prize money amounts, but the points that riders and horses can earn are also different.
Take the championship of Class A events for example. A rider can get 500 points by winning any of the thirteen Class A events, while the champion of Class B events only gets 200 points, the champion of Class C gets 100 points, and the champion of Class D gets 50 points.
It seems that the points gap between the champions in the four levels of competition is not that big.
But the problem is that a rider can only participate in a limited number of events each year, so for these riders, every point is precious.
Speaking of this, we have to mention another regulation of the South China Jockey Association regarding riders and racehorses, which is that a rider can change to a maximum of two racehorses per year, and the same racehorse can only have a maximum of two riders per year.
This can be regarded as the greatest guarantee of fairness and justice in domestic horse racing.
