The Charles Becomes a Wizard

Chapter 197: Talk in the Room of Requests

Arrogant?

Dumbledore was stunned for a moment. It had been a long time since he heard anyone use this word to describe him.

When was the last time?

"He treated others as chess pieces, commented on the suffering of others from a high position, stubbornly and arrogantly believed that he could continue to maintain the false prosperity of the British wizarding world, longed to control everything, and delusionally wanted to eliminate all unfavorable factors."

Charles was not the kind of person who would suffer any loss. After being criticized for no reason, of course he had to fight back.

"You see, Mr. Dumbledore, I know you better than you think."

"As long as you can successfully achieve the final goal, it doesn't really matter how much you sacrifice in the process, right?"

Dumbledore looked at Ciel quietly without refuting his words.

Everything is for the greatest good, in order to maintain peace in the wizarding world, some sacrifices are inevitable. Although it is a bit cold-blooded to say this, sacrificing a small number of people for the benefit of the majority is very worthwhile in Dumbledore's view.

"Do you really care about those dead children as much as you appear to?" Charles tilted his head and asked suddenly.

He tapped his fingers rhythmically on the table and spoke without waiting for Dumbledore's answer.

"Maybe you do care a little. You feel sorry for their passing, but you never think about it from their perspective, or what kind of torture they might have to endure if they survived."

Dumbledore had been looking down on the wizarding world from a high position for too long, and it was impossible for him to empathize with the suffering of others.

According to his own standard of "kindness", he created a template for himself and the entire British wizarding world, trying to use a rough and simple method to divide a person's nature, to judge a person's position and to distinguish between good and bad people.

Anyone who falls outside this template will be viewed with vigilance and fear.

In Charles's opinion, this behavior itself was extremely ridiculous.

The reason why human beings can become human beings is that they have their own thoughts, which are complex, flexible and changeable. It is not so easy to distinguish whether a person's nature is good or evil.

It is ironic that Dumbledore, who served as headmaster of Hogwarts for nearly fifty years, never seemed to realize this.

"Just like you once forgave the werewolf who almost hurt Professor Snape on his behalf." Ciel said sarcastically.

The old man in front of him not only forgave the bully on behalf of the victim, he even blurred the course of events and turned the whole thing into a story of "the four robbers rescued Snape from danger despite their past grudges." He even awarded a medal to the bully when the victim was still in shock.

"Of course, you can think that I am just making excuses for what I did, or you can disagree with my ideas."

"But if you really cared about those kids as much as you appear to, we wouldn't be having this conversation today."

"Obviously, in your opinion, reaching a cooperation with the Phantomhive family is more important than the lives of those children."

After Ciel's last words fell, the Room of Requirement fell into silence.

Dumbledore's face turned pale and blue for a long while before he said with a complicated expression: "Mr. Phantomhive, you are indeed very smart."

It has even reached a level that is frightening.

Dumbledore's heart was alarmed.

A gleam of light flashed in his azure eyes, and the white-haired old man sighed softly: "Mr. Phantomhive, please believe me, I have no ill will towards you."

"Mr. Dumbledore, I reiterate again that I have no objection to the Order of the Phoenix. Of course you can cooperate with me, but I value tangible benefits more than your current performance." Charles placed his hands on his lips in a tower shape.

"I hope you can say something useful next time we meet, otherwise I will really doubt your sincerity."

......

After finishing his conversation with Dumbledore, Charles returned to his dormitory before curfew.

"Sebastian, is there anything to eat?" Charles raised his hand and pinched his aching brow.

Draco, who had already changed into his pajamas, lit up his eyes when he heard this.

Ciel has been busy with things outside of school these days, and he hasn't had the afternoon tea snacks prepared by Sebastian for several days!

"It's a little too late to prepare now, and eating at night is bad for your teeth." Sebastian reached out and took off Ciel's long wizard robe.

"Stop talking too much," Charles impatiently untied the tie around his neck, "I'm hungry, go get me something sweet."

"Well, how about a glass of hot milk with honey?"

"I don't want to survive like a puppy drinking milk."

"Ah, so you don't like this title?" Sebastian half-knelt on the ground and took off the shoes and socks of the boy sitting on the chair. "You were obviously very happy when you were called the Queen's foreign dog."

"I didn't do anything so ridiculous." Ciel glared at him and then met Draco's sparkling eyes.

Ciel: ...

Ciel kicked Sebastian in the leg.

"Go prepare something to eat."

"As ordered."

Sebastian quickly brought back a small plate of sandwiches and brewed some soothing floral tea, which he placed in front of Ciel and Draco, who was sitting quite consciously at the coffee table.

Charles picked up a sandwich and took a bite, then suddenly said, "That orphanage..."

"Master Vincent sent a message that the orphanage has been abandoned for a long time and all the facilities are dilapidated. According to the doctor, those children are probably..."

"Ah, that's right."

So, that's how it is...

"There are many younger sisters in the orphanage. Without this person, they will not be able to survive!"

Joker's panicked look is still vivid in my mind.

Until the end of his life, he didn't know that the thing they tried so hard to protect no longer existed...

He didn't even know such a thing and died for such a false lie.

Really, stupid...

They pile up lies and struggle desperately, not realizing until their death that they are just ants in the hands of others. No matter how hard they try, they cannot break free from the shackles and, as the nursery rhyme goes, over the hills and into the distance.

"Heh." Charles laughed softly.

His heart is filled with ugly and complicated desires, and he is willing to step on the corpses of others to achieve his goals.

I seem to be no different from those guys...

"Master?"

"No, it's nothing."

Ciel suddenly lost his appetite and put the sandwich with a corner bitten off back on the plate. It was not picked up again until Sebastian cleaned up the mess.
