Chapter 447 Between Calm and Storm

Carol took a sip of the drink in the cup, her eyes thoughtful, as if she was listening carefully to Ayesha's words, but it seemed as if she didn't hear anything. A faint smile appeared on her lips, and her voice was calm, "Umbrella? They are indeed a bit... eye-catching."

This sentence is like a smooth stone, thrown lightly into a calm lake, neither stirring up waves nor leaving any trace. Carol's words are as elusive as clouds and smoke, and it sounds like he has said everything, but if you taste it carefully, there is nothing.

Ayesha smiled slightly, her expression unchanged, but her eyes flashed with a little insight. Carol's attitude was neither hostile nor supportive, as if Umbrella was just an insignificant existence in the universe to her, which surprised Ayesha a little. "This Mr. Danvers is really a difficult person to deal with." She silently calculated in her heart. Although Carol's attitude made her elusive, she had analyzed one thing: this person had no good feelings towards Umbrella, or perhaps even closer to indifference.

Ayesha raised her hand slightly, and the guard beside her immediately understood, took a golden monitor and gently placed it in front of her. Ayesha tapped the screen with her slender fingers, and the picture lit up instantly, showing the "clean-up operation" carried out by the Umbrella Fleet on a certain interstellar route.

In the picture, huge warships covered the starry sky like black shadows, and their artillery fire ruthlessly bombarded the spacecraft on the route. Most of these spacecraft were small merchant ships, and some even belonged to weak alien races. They had no resistance and were unable to resist this massacre. The warships' laser cannons easily tore through the spacecraft's shields, and flames devoured the hull. Screams and pleas for mercy echoed in the void through the communication channel.

Ayesha's eyes swept towards Carol, with a subtle provocation in her expression. She frowned slightly, as if she couldn't bear to watch any more. There was a hint of regret and helplessness in her tone: "Carol, look at these poor alien races. They don't even have the ability to resist. Umbrella claims that they are maintaining order, but is this so-called 'order' really worth following? They have no mercy on the weak. If this kind of power continues to spread, who knows who will be the next one?"

Her words were full of hints, and although they were not pointed out, they intentionally or unintentionally aroused Carol's disgust for the umbrella. Every word was like a thin needle, slowly piercing her nerves, as if saying: "You may not care about them, but this is exactly why you should be angry."

Carol's eyes never left the screen, the cruel scenes on the screen constantly assaulting her mind. Those alien races - young and old - struggled helplessly under the gunfire, their spacecrafts were torn apart like paper under the weapons of the umbrella. Her fingers unconsciously slid lightly on the edge of the cup, and the "star flame" in the cup swayed slightly.

"They really have no power to resist," Carol whispered, her voice as calm as water, as if she was talking to herself, but also as a response to Ayesha. "These weak people should not have been caught up in such a storm."

Ayesha caught a hint of fluctuation in Carol's tone, and a faint smile appeared on her face, as if the hunter finally saw that the prey had loosened up. Her voice was low and gentle, and she continued to hint: "As you can see, what Umbrella has done has far exceeded the boundaries of a "company". They are using violence to trample on races that are unable to resist, and if such atrocities are not stopped, the entire universe will fall into darkness."

Although Carol was not completely swayed by Ayesha's words, her eyes became even colder. These scenes did make her feel intolerable anger. Her protective nature towards the weak was aroused, and the cruel behavior of the umbrella made her feel a disgust that could not be ignored.

"Perhaps, Umbrella really needs to be reminded of the bottom line." Carol looked away from the screen and looked at Ayesha. Her voice was still calm, but it already revealed a hint of hidden anger.

Ayesha noticed Carol's mood change, and the smile on her face deepened a little. She knew that her goal had been partially achieved.

......

The spaceship of the Guardians of the Galaxy shuttled rapidly in the vast space, and the engine at the rear burst into dazzling light. Star-Lord held the control stick tightly, with a nervous and excited smile on his face, but he could hear Gamora's complaints and Rocket Raccoon's teasing.

"I'm telling you, Rocket, I'm the best pilot for this ship!" Star-Lord shouted loudly, his tone full of unwillingness and provocation, staring at the rows of Sovereign unmanned spacecraft chasing him from behind on the screen.

Rocket Raccoon sat in the co-pilot's seat, quickly operating the console in front of him with both hands, and responded nonchalantly: "Can you stop bragging, Peter? If you are really so powerful, why are we still being chased?"

"You stole their energy cell, Rocket!" Gamora's voice came from behind, her tone full of reproach. She held the armrest of the seat tightly, her body swaying left and right with the violent turbulence of the spacecraft. Her grim expression revealed her serious dissatisfaction with this crisis.

"Hey! That's part of the plan!" Rocket shot back nonchalantly, operating the control panel to try to adjust the flight trajectory of the spacecraft. His hair stood up slightly because of nervousness, but the corners of his mouth still had a smug smile.

Drax sat in the back row, his face showing no fear, but an excited expression. He glanced at the screen behind the spaceship and saw that Sovereign's unmanned spaceship was still chasing him closely, so he laughed: "Let these spaceships come! I'm not afraid of them!"

Groot stood quietly in the corner of the spaceship, shaking his branches, watching the spaceships chasing them on the screen intently, and occasionally whispering "I am Groot".

The chase in space intensified, and the large number of Sovereign unmanned spacecraft, like a group of ferocious space hunters, continuously fired intensive energy cannons at the spacecraft of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Each cannon fire exploded around the spacecraft, and the flames splashed everywhere, forming a dazzling visual impact.

"I say, Peter, can you fly more steadily?" Gamora was almost thrown out of the seat, her voice filled with suppressed anger.

Star-Lord grumbled as he yanked the steering wheel: "How could there be a problem when you're flying so cool?"

Rocket rolled his eyes unceremoniously. "Oh, that's cool! But you better not let those ships hit our tail fins, or you'll be responsible."

Drax looked at the artillery fire from the Sovereign fleet, his eyes flashing with excitement: "These attacks are ineffective! Their ships are too weak!" He laughed loudly, as if he was completely immersed in the thrill of this chase.

"I am Groot!" Groot suddenly shouted. Although no one understood what he meant, everyone could feel his nervousness and excitement.

Sovereign's unmanned spacecraft pursued them relentlessly, firing energy cannons that almost completely surrounded the Galaxy Guardians' spacecraft. Each explosion caused a shock wave around the spacecraft, causing everyone in the cockpit to almost lose their balance.

Star-Lord gritted his teeth and accelerated towards an asteroid belt, hoping to get rid of these tireless pursuers through the complex terrain. The spacecraft flexibly shuttled through the dense asteroid group, sometimes turning rapidly, sometimes diving suddenly, and Star-Lord almost broke the control stick in his hand.

Rocket still didn't forget to bicker: "I knew you didn't dare to give up your seat, so you can continue to make a fool of yourself."

Star-Lord quickly responded: "If you think you can do better, you're always welcome!"

Gamora frowned impatiently, "Can you two pay attention? Now is not the time to compete to see who can be cooler!"

The spacecraft shuttled through the asteroid belt at high speed, and the Sovereign unmanned spacecraft behind it was also chasing closely, showing no signs of giving up. Those unmanned spacecraft flexibly avoided the collision with the asteroids, as if they had an extremely accurate navigation system, and continued to close the distance with the Guardians of the Galaxy.

"These ships are too stubborn!" Star-Lord made a sharp turn and almost hit a huge asteroid. Sweat beads were oozing from his forehead, and he held the control stick tightly in his hand, as if it would break if he exerted a little more force.

At this critical moment, Rocket suddenly caught a glimpse of a new fleet appearing on the radar, and a hint of surprise flashed in his eyes: "Hey! Peter, look ahead! We are saved!"

Star-Lord quickly glanced at the radar screen, with an ecstatic smile on his face: "It's the Umbrella fleet! My old friends! We are safe!"

Gamora frowned: "You mean, Umbrella?"

"That's right!" Star-Lord shouted excitedly, controlling the spaceship to rush towards the fleet in front, "They are the most reliable company. Now we don't have to worry!"

The Sovereign unmanned spacecraft in the rear also apparently saw the fleet, and their speed began to slow down, as if they were unwilling to confront the Umbrella fleet head-on.

"Haha, look! Even Sovereign's spaceship doesn't dare to get close to Umbrella." Star-Lord patted the operating table proudly, as if he had already won the battle.

Rocket leaned back in his chair, crossed his arms, and showed a playful smile on his face: "I told you, at times like this, you have to rely on your friends."

After seeing the existence of the Umbrella Fleet, Sovereign's unmanned spacecraft began to slow down and finally stopped not far from the fleet. Their command system was obviously conducting some kind of emergency assessment and seemed particularly hesitant.

Drax laughed loudly, as if this chase was an interesting game to him: "They are scared! These ships finally know that they can't defeat us!"

"I am Groot!" Groot's voice was also full of excitement, as if he also felt that the crisis was about to end.
