Became good friends with the Boy Who Lived

Chapter 66: Golden Cup and Locket

It was a wonderful night. Most of the students attended the dinner in their pajamas and stayed up all night.

Although today was not a holiday, the hall was filled with a festive atmosphere. Draco came to the Gryffindor table again, complaining to Aeris and Harry why they didn't bring him along.

"Aren't you afraid that Uncle Lucius will ground you for the entire summer after he finds out?" Aeris said with a smile. Draco did not refute, as if Lucius had really done so.

Also coming to the table were Cedric, Zhang Qiu, Luna... Ron's injured leg was healed instantly by Madam Pomfrey, and after Ginny recovered, she also attended the dinner accompanied by her parents.

"You don't know," Ron said to Hermione while enjoying his meal, "When Aerys saw you being petrified, he gnashed his teeth and said he would tear apart all the bones of the basilisk. He kept his word..."

Everyone around looked at Aesop in surprise. Aesop said indifferently, "I did what I said. The bones of the basilisk have become Professor Snape's experimental material."

Hermione stood aside with a red face and refused to speak.

The atmosphere of panic dissipated, Hogwarts Castle regained its usual vitality, and the students' study and life went on as usual.

The final exam results came out, and Hermione gritted her teeth in anger when she saw Aris showing off his grades in front of her, because Aris was the top of the grade again.

Those petrified students can all be promoted to the next academic year unconditionally. Professor McGonagall originally wanted to exempt Hermione from the final exam, but at Hermione's insistence, Hermione also took the final exam.

"You missed a few months of study, didn't you?" Aeris comforted Hermione, "otherwise at least we could be tied for first place in the grade."

After the exams, it was time to completely relax. Several people were lazily sitting in a corner of the common room. Harry and Ron were playing wizard chess, and the rejuvenated Ginny was watching the game and giving Ron bad advice from time to time. Hermione was sulking, and Aris, who had pissed off Hermione, was joking with a grin on his face.

"You are such a comforter..." Hermione said dryly. Before she could finish her words, a fiery red shadow flew in from the open window. It was Fawkes.

After Fox handed a note to Aries, he flapped his wings and flew away. Aries unfolded the note and the others looked at it curiously.

The note was written in beautiful handwriting with circles and ticks:

Aris, if you have time, come to the principal's office on the eighth floor and call Harry. The password is: cockroach pile.

Professor Albus Dumbledore

Aries handed the note to Harry, and after Harry read it, his face looked a little strange.

"What do you think Professor Dumbledore wants to talk to us about?" Harry asked nervously as the two of them arrived on the eighth floor.

"It's impossible that they will fire you," Aris joked, "You'll know when you get there. Oh! Here we are, a bunch of cockroaches..."

The two stone monsters guarding the entrance made way for them, and a spiral staircase led directly to the top. Aeris and Harry climbed the stairs and arrived at the door of the office. Aeris knocked on the door.

The door opened automatically and Aris walked in. Harry followed, looking around the headmaster's office curiously.

"You are here!" said Professor Dumbledore, who was sitting behind his desk, in a tired voice. "Please sit down!" He waved his hand and two armchairs came over.

After the two of them sat down, Professor Dumbledore said, "You also know about Tom Riddle's creation of multiple Horcruxes!"

Seeing the two nod, Professor Dumbledore continued: "The situation is really bad. We don't know how many Horcruxes he has made, where he has hidden them, or even what they are..." Professor Dumbledore glanced vaguely at the lightning-shaped scar on Harry's forehead.

"As long as these Horcruxes exist in the world," said Professor Dumbledore, "we will never be able to completely kill the man called Voldemort."

For a moment, the expressions of the three people, young and old, were very solemn. Professor Dumbledore took out the diary. The hole through it looked hideous and terrifying.

"I used to be Tom Riddle's professor," Professor Dumbledore said. "I think I know him. Logically, he would never store his soul in an ordinary diary produced in the Muggle world. This would be unacceptable to him who thinks he is noble. You have also talked to him. What do you think about this?"

Aris and Harry looked at each other. Harry lowered his head in thought. Aris said thoughtfully, "Professor, I have an idea..."

"Tell me about it." Professor Dumbledore looked at Aris encouragingly.

"This diary has irreplaceable significance for Tom Riddle," Aris said. "This diary is likely to record the process of Tom Riddle finding the Chamber of Secrets. With the witness of this diary, he confirmed that he was a descendant of Slytherin, which must be of great significance to him."

"Very good, Aeris," Professor Dumbledore said, his tired expression easing a little. He continued, "So his other Horcruxes must be some items that are of special significance to him. Tom Riddle lived in an orphanage before he entered school. When he was still in the orphanage, he liked to rob other children of their precious items and hide them in the storage cabinet in his bedroom. After he graduated from Hogwarts, he became an ordinary employee of Borgin and Burke's magical item store despite his excellent grades. This was also unreasonable for him who was ambitious. During that time, he had been looking for the relics of the four founders of Hogwarts. He even tried to get the Sword of Gryffindor."

"So," Harry said in surprise, "it's possible that his Horcruxes are relics of the four founders?"

"That's the problem, Harry," Professor Dumbledore said helplessly, "Even if we know that his Horcruxes may be relics of the four founders, we still have to spend a lot of time looking for where he may have hidden those relics, not to mention determining the number of Horcruxes."

"I do have an idea, Professor." Aris said, and Professor Dumbledore and Harry both looked at Aris.

"Tell me, Aeris," said Professor Dumbledore. "As an old man, I sometimes cannot keep up with the thinking of you young people. What we need most now is to pool our wisdom."

Aeris looked around and saw a tattered Sorting Hat on a shelf. Next to it was the Gryffindor Knight's Sword. Aeris pointed at the Sorting Hat and said, "Can we ask Mr. Hat for help? Can you bring Mr. Hat over here, Professor?"

Professor Dumbledore waved his hand, and the Sorting Hat came to Aris. Aris searched in the hat and said, "The four founders were as close as brothers at the beginning. This is just my guess. If the person recognized by Gryffindor can pull out the Sword of Gryffindor from the hat, then the person recognized by Helga..."

Aeris' eyes lit up, and he pulled out an extremely beautiful, pure gold goblet from his hat. There were several lifelike relief carvings of Hufflepuff badgers on the goblet.

As Harry stared in amazement, Aeris handed the Hufflepuff Cup to Professor Dumbledore. Professor Dumbledore, who was obviously surprised, took it subconsciously and examined it carefully.

After a while, Professor Dumbledore put the Hufflepuff cup on the desk and said helplessly, "I can't confirm whether this cup is a Horcrux. I need a more precise magical examination. This is a precious relic of Ms. Hufflepuff. Apart from the magical abilities it may have, its historical significance is even more precious. We can't destroy it just by our guesses."

At Professor Dumbledore's signal, Aries reached into the hat again, and under the gaze of Professor Dumbledore and Harry, he pulled out a locket.

The locket was also made of gold, the size of a goose egg, with a Slytherin snake coiled around it, as if it were alive.

Professor Dumbledore took the Slytherin locket, examined it, shook his head, and looked at Aris expectantly.

Under the expectant gazes of Professor Dumbledore and Harry, Aris searched the hat for a long time again, but this time he found nothing. Aris spread his hands helplessly and said, "No, it seems to be gone. Maybe I haven't received the inheritance of Lady Ravenclaw yet."

"You've done very well, Aeris," Professor Dumbledore waved his hand, and the Sorting Hat flew back to the shelf. "We have taken a crucial step, which is much better than when I was alone and helpless."

After saying goodbye to Professor Dumbledore, Aries and Harry returned to the common room. At Hermione's inquiring gaze, Aries shook his head gently. Ginny and Ron were playing wizard chess, and the two siblings were arguing over Ginny's regret of a move.

The time without studying passed really quickly. Before the summer vacation, Aris, Harry and a few others visited Hagrid. They had not visited Hagrid many times this year because of the Chamber of Secrets. The Scottish fairy dragon Norrington had grown very big. Standing upright, he was a head taller than Hagrid. His green eyes were very smart and he could even say a simple hello to Aris and the others. When the low and hoarse words "Hello..." came out of Norrington's throat, the little wizards were really scared.

At the year-end dinner, the students were in high spirits. Gryffindor broke the historical record of the House Cup with a high score of 1,110 points and won the House Cup again. Professor McGonagall's usually serious face also had a rare smile.

The summer vacation began with the whistle of a steam train. Aeris cast a delicate traceless stretching spell to make a compartment as big as a football field. Many students came to this compartment and seized this brief time when they could still use magic to practice the spells they learned in the defense team gatherings this year. After all, the Ministry of Magic prohibited them from using magic during the summer vacation.

But in the end, under the strong protest of the train conductor, they had to disband, and the compartment was restored to its original size. After the train conductor left, Ron was still muttering something in dissatisfaction.

After the train arrived at the station, Harry said goodbye to everyone reluctantly. Before leaving, he handed a few notes to Aries, Ron, and Hermione. "This is my uncle's phone number," Harry said, "Call me, okay? I told Mr. Weasley how to use the phone last year. I can't stand being ridiculed by Dudley all summer."

"I'll visit the Dursleys when I have time." Edwards said, which made Harry smile happily, and with less heavy steps he walked towards Mr. Dursley who came to pick him up.
