Became good friends with the Boy Who Lived

Chapter 72 Care of Magical Creatures Lesson

In the Transfiguration class, Professor McGonagall systematically explained Animagus, and in full view of everyone, she transformed into a beautiful tabby cat. The fur patterns around the eyes of this tabby cat made it look like it was wearing a pair of glasses.

With a whoosh, Professor McGonagall transformed back and asked in confusion, "Why are you all so dull today? My Animagus transformation did not receive full applause. This is the first time since I became the Transfiguration professor."

Hermione raised her hand, and at Professor McGonagall's signal, she hesitantly said, "Professor, our last class was Divination..."

"Well, Miss Granger, you don't have to say anything," said Professor McGonagall. "Whose death did Professor Trelawney predict this time?"

All the students looked at Harry. Harry smiled bitterly and said dryly, "My goodness, professor, in this class, Professor Trelawney predicted my death no less than ten times..."

"Well, Mr. Potter," said Professor McGonagall, "you have been in good health and vigor since I taught you, not to mention that you have occasionally gotten into trouble. Don't expect to use this as an excuse to reduce the amount of homework I assign to you, but to be honest, if you really die, you don't have to hand in that homework."

The whole class burst into laughter. Harry scratched his head in embarrassment. Professor McGonagall continued, "Divination is the least rigorous of all the magical subjects I know. As for Professor Trelawney, I am not a professor who likes to speak ill of my colleagues, but in the past ten years since she joined the job, she has predicted the tragic death of a student every year. But as far as I know, the students she predicted are all alive and well now. This can only mean one thing, that Professor Trelawney prefers this kind of alarmist prediction."

The students in the class were obviously relieved, and the atmosphere in the following class became noticeably more relaxed and joyful.

After lunch there was an hour's break, after which the third-year Gryffindor students went to their first Care of Magical Creatures class. When Aeris, Harry and the others followed the crowd out of the castle, they met the Slytherin students coming up from the basement.

It looks like I will have to take this Care of Magical Creatures class with the Slytherin students.

"Hey! Potter," Draco's eyes lit up as he walked towards Harry, with Crabbe and Goyle following behind him. "I heard that your Divination class wasn't going well? Did the Divination professor predict your death?"

As soon as Draco finished speaking, Crabbe cooperated and fell backwards. Goyle quickly supported him and laughed unabashedly.

"Do you wish I'd die, Drag?" Harry said irritably.

"What's your attitude?" Draco said dissatisfiedly, "I'm just concerned about you!"

"Then you're really going to worry me to death!" Harry said teasingly.

As they walked towards the hunting ground, the two of them were bickering with each other. The classmates around them looked at them as if they were fools, and looked at them bickering. It was not until they saw the tall Hagrid that these two funny guys finally stopped.

Hagrid was rubbing his hands together nervously, with Fang squatting at his feet and Norrington, a Scottish goblin dragon taller than Hagrid, standing behind him.

When the students saw Norrington, they were first amazed and then surprised, because for a dragon, Norrington was so beautiful. He exuded a strong life wave all over his body, which made people want to get close to him unconsciously. His emerald green scales made him look like a finely crafted work of art.

One girl shouted excitedly, "Professor Hagrid, is this the dragon that we are dealing with today?"

Hearing someone calling him professor, Hagrid looked even more embarrassed, "Oh! No..." Hagrid said, "Norrington is amazing, but I have prepared something... oh... more exciting."

"Is his name Norrington?" said Pansy Parkinson from Slytherin. "Why can't we learn about him in this class?"

"What...class...is...Hagrid...who has the final say..." A deep and hoarse voice came out from Norrington's throat, word by word, and most of the students shuddered.

A Gryffindor girl screamed, "It...it...it can talk?"

Norrington glanced at the girl, who was covering her throat and almost fainting. Norrington tilted his head in confusion, as if he didn't understand why she was so excited.

"Did you bring your textbooks?" Hagrid asked. The students all took out the "Monster Book of Monsters". Almost all the students used ropes or clips to fix the book to prevent it from "opening its mouth".

Seeing this, Hagrid asked, "Didn't you read this book during the summer vacation?"

"How can I see?" Neville said in horror. "It ripped my grandmother's old robes to pieces."

"It's simple," Hagrid said as a matter of course, "like this..." After that, Hagrid took out a monster book, stroked its spine from top to bottom twice, and then opened the monster book naturally.

The classmates all looked at Hagrid with an expression of "are you kidding me?" Hagrid coughed awkwardly and said, "Come with me!" Then he walked in one direction.

"Follow... follow..." Norrington said and followed Hagrid. The classmates looked at each other and walked towards Hagrid. Neville imitated Hagrid and stroked his monster book twice. When he opened the monster book, the monster book suddenly knocked him to the ground.

The students around were all laughing. "Are you okay, Neville?" Aeris had already taken a few steps and asked with concern.

"I'm fine... I'm fine..." Neville struggled to stand up, but was then knocked to the ground by the monster book again. Aeris shook his head, took out his wand and waved it. A rope tied Neville's monster book tightly, and Neville was able to get away.

The students followed Hagrid to a large paddock. The paddock was really large, at the edge of the Forbidden Forest, but it seemed that only one-third of it was outside the Forbidden Forest, and the remaining two-thirds seemed to be enclosed in the Forbidden Forest.

Hagrid walked into the paddock, said, "Wait a minute..." and entered the forbidden forest. After a while, Hagrid appeared in the students' sight, but with him appeared twelve huge monsters... er... magical creatures...

The students exclaimed again. The bodies of these creatures were those of horses, including the torso, strong hind legs, hooves and tails; but the forelimbs and heads were those of birds, like birds of prey such as eagles. The huge wings were folded on both sides of the body, and the claws of the forelimbs shone with a metallic luster, leaving no doubt about how sharp they were.

"Hippogriffs!" said Hagrid cheerfully. "They're pretty, aren't they?"

Their heads to necks are covered in feathers, and if you ignore their fierce orange eyes, the gradient color from feathers to fur is really charming.

"Next, who wants to come over and touch them?" Hagrid asked.

The classmates took a step back tacitly, leaving only Aries and Harry "isolated". Aries looked around and also took a step back silently.

"Very good, Harry, come here, don't be shy!" said Hagrid. Harry looked around in confusion, then understood. He turned around and glared at Aeris, Ron, and Draco one by one. Draco pushed Harry forward unkindly.

Harry entered the paddock and came to a hippogriff. Hagrid said happily, "Oh! You chose Buckbeak. You have to follow my words meticulously. Do you understand?"

Hagrid's voice turned serious. "First, you have to bow to him. Remember, it is very important that you keep your eyes on his eyes while you bow, Harry."

Harry did as he was told, but Buckbeak just shook his head in annoyance. Hagrid sighed in disappointment and said, "No, Harry, he doesn't like you. Back away slowly..."

But at this moment, Buckbeak lowered his head towards Harry, and Hagrid said happily, "Excellent, Harry, you can pat his beak."

Harry looked at Hagrid in disbelief, because Buckbeak's beak was like a scimitar. If an uncontrollable person held a scimitar, would anyone slap that person on the back of the knife?

Harry cautiously reached his hand forward, and Buckbeak put his beak under Harry's palm. Harry patted it gently, and Aeris could see that he was a little frightened.

"Next," said Hagrid, "I think he'd like you to ride on him!" Then, regardless of Harry's feelings, Hagrid lifted Harry up with his big hands.

"What...don't...Hagrid...don't..." Before Harry could struggle, Hagrid put him on Buckbeak and put his legs under Buckbeak's wings.

"Don't pull his feathers, he might get mad," said Hagrid.

"Where do I grab?" Harry shouted.

"Hold it with your legs!" said Hagrid.

Hagrid patted Buckbeak on the back, and Buckbeak ran a few steps, then took off into the air, circled twice over the paddock, and then fell suddenly.

Harry got off Buckbeak in a panic and said angrily, "Are you going to murder your students, Professor Hagrid?"

"How did I do?" Hagrid asked nervously. Harry sighed, smiled and said, "Very...very good, Professor..."

Hagrid blushed and said to the other students, "You all saw Harry's demonstration, come and try it."

Neville swallowed hard and said unconfidently: "I'm really afraid that if I try, I'll die..."

The students entered the enclosure carefully and approached the hippogriffs cautiously. Draco chose Buckbeak. The scene of Buckbeak killing Draco flashed through Aris' mind. It was so real, as if this scene was bound to happen. Aris broke out in a cold sweat and did not bother to choose the hippogriff he liked. He quickly walked towards Draco.

Draco bowed to Buckbeak, who immediately returned the greeting. Draco turned his head and gave Harry a provocative look, saying, "It's not that hard..."

But what Draco didn't know was that Buckbeak had already raised his two front paws high, and was about to grab his head. At the critical moment, Aeris grabbed Draco's collar by the back of his neck and dragged him back with all his strength. Buckbeak's paw almost swept past the tip of Draco's nose.

Norrington rushed over quickly and stood in front of Buckbeak, with his huge dragon wings spread out and the dragon roared loudly as he confronted Buckbeak.

Buckbeak stepped back a few steps and spread his wings. The eagle's cry sounded, and Hagrid quickly stood in the middle, shouting: "Buckbeak, bad boy, stand back..."

Buckbeak stepped back unwillingly, with an innocent look in his eyes, as if he didn't know that he almost killed a wizard.

Draco quickly checked his body and found that no parts were missing, and even his robe was not damaged. He breathed a sigh of relief and said with lingering fear: "Thank you, Aeris." Aeris pointed his finger at Draco's forehead and said:

"Why are you only thinking about comparing yourself with Harry? If you look away, Buckbeak will think you look down on him. He will feel insulted and will attack you..." Before Aeris could finish his words, his hand was roughly pulled aside.

Pansy Parkinson protected Draco behind her, like a mother animal protecting her cub.

Pansy Parkinson said in a shrill voice: "Don't go too far, Grindelwald, Draco is the victim."

"If it weren't for Aris, Malfoy would have been injured." Hermione came to Aris and said bluntly.

"Don't... quarrel..." Norrington came over, "Hagrid... said... quarreling... is not good..."

Draco patted Pansy Parkinson's shoulder gently, shook his head, and the two walked towards where the Slytherin students gathered.

After seeing what happened to Draco, the students spent this Care of Magical Creatures class in fear, simply because the Hippogriff was so aggressive.
