Chapter 1168 News from the Twilight Cultists

"I brought news about the assassins!"

After Dathrohan brought Vanessa into his camp, the female Hidden Blade went straight to the point and talked about the purpose of her trip.

"What! Where is the target!?"

Entering Dasohan's tent, Vanessa took out a roll of parchment from the package around her waist and spread it on the small table in the middle.

It was a hand-drawn map. From the somewhat familiar coastline, Dathrohan and several high-ranking knights around him guessed that it was a map of Vol'dun.

The map accurately marked the Serpentine Canyon in the north, the Platform of the Devout on the western coastline, and most prominently, the Temple of Akunda in the south, which was marked with a large red X.

"They are here?"

A high-ranking Paladin pointed at the red mark and said doubtfully.

"No, Jorade, they can't be that fast," another paladin corrected the paladin named Jorade, "We just landed on the north shore, and we are at most one day away from our target. There are no mages among them, so it's impossible for them to reach the southernmost part of this land directly from the north shore."

"Brother Samuel is right." Dadasohan also expressed his opinion and asked Vanessa: "This should not be our goal, right?"

"That's right, your target is not there, but judging from the direction they are heading, their destination is this area on the map." Vanessa looked solemn when she said this.

"The Temple of Akunda, it sounds like a temple built by trolls. What on earth happened there?"

This question arose in the minds of the paladins.

"We learned from the local Tortoises that a lot of strange things happened in Vol'dun half a year ago. The Temple of Akunda was suddenly blocked by dark forces. After more than half of the residents in the surrounding area died from the terrible black fog, the remaining residents left one after another. Then overnight, a huge stone tower rose from the original platform, like a dark peak that reached the sky!"

"It is said that at the top of the tower is a portal that is burning with flames and dotted with shadow wings!"

As soon as Vanessa finished speaking, the paladins looked at each other and said in unison: "It's the Twilight Cult! Those evil cultists!"

Dasohan understood everything in an instant!

"After assassinating Bishop Natalie, these traitors wanted to take her tomes and weapons to the Twilight Cult's base?"

"Maybe it's not a stronghold, maybe it's their headquarters!"

"We've caught a big fish. The crackdown on cultists in the country has never stopped. If we can eradicate their base camp, we may be able to completely eliminate them!"

The paladins discussed with each other and were getting closer to the truth.

The Twilight Cult chose this place because the Eastern Continent and Kalimdor are under the control of the Alliance of Azeroth. Even if the Twilight Bastion is built, it will be besieged by the Alliance's army in the first place.

Also, the Zandalari Troll Empire experienced a defeat not long ago, and fell from the altar of the lofty Troll overlord state. Its prestige was gone. Except for the weakest Farraki Desert Trolls who still recognized them, the other Frost, Forest, and Jungle Trolls had already become independent.

The decline of the Zandalari caused the Twilight Cult to shift their attention to their land. In this desert of Vol'dun, there are fox people, tortollans, snake people, and the exiled Zandalari trolls. The reproduction, disintegration, and change of races and factions seem to never stop. From a historical perspective, it has been a hotbed of long-term wars.

And most importantly, there is a reason why the cultists chose the Wodun Desert as their base camp. They can feel the presence of the ancient gods in the air here, and they can see future victory in the darkness here.
