Crossing the Other World: My Warcraft System

Chapter 176: Layout of the Barren Land

In Thunder Bluff, in the council chamber of the Tauren Chieftains, Galen, Gandalf, Cairne Bloodhoof, Hamuul Runetotem and Magatha Grimtotem are discussing the various matters regarding the division of the Barrens.

The Barren Land, in Garin's opinion, is a place of war.

It is a very important transportation route, connecting to Ashenvale in the north and directly to the territory of the night elves. In the east, it passes through the Wrath of the River and directly reaches the Eastern Barrens. In the southwest, it is connected to the Mulgore Steppes, where a huge gate has been built by the tauren to cut off the harassment of Mulgore by the wild boars.

The southeast side leads to the Muddy Swamp, a swamp similar to the wetlands in the eastern continent. Garin is not ready to set foot in this area yet. Firstly, the environment there is harsh and not suitable for human life. Secondly, there is a group of black dragons entrenched in the south of the swamp. It is easy to be attacked by the black dragons if you step into the Muddy Swamp. Garin does not want to confront the black dragons yet.

For the convenience of division, Garen divided the Barrens into two parts, north and south, with the territory of the Thornback Boarmen and the Friendship Fortress as the dividing line. The north is the Northern Barrens and the south is the Southern Barrens.

This dividing line is very close to the gate of Mulgore. The southern part is left to the Tauren, and the northern part is developed by Garen himself.

"We have no objection to the above division!"

After Kane discussed with his two chieftain advisors, they finally decided that the Tauren's focus would still be on the development of the Mulgore Steppes. This land was very fertile and vast. According to their estimates, it would be no problem to feed tens of millions of Tauren.

Therefore, for the territories outside Mulgore, they are mainly used for strategic depth and border barriers. Currently, they have several small camps in the Stonetalon Mountains in the north, which are managed by the Terrortotem and several small clans affiliated with the Bloodhoof Clan. They are all excellent hunter clans and can monitor the movements of the centaurs very well.

As for the newly divided Southern Barrens, they are now unable to develop it. In addition to the lack of extra manpower, the huge size of the Tauren makes them unsuitable for mining. Moreover, there are Razorfen Downs and Razorfen Fens, two major gathering places of Quilboar in the south, and thousands of Quilboar are eyeing them covetously.

Therefore, Kane decided to build a fortress-like camp in the Southern Barrens as an outpost and material transfer station. It was located two hundred miles east of the gate of Mulgore, exactly in the center of the Southern Barrens.

After discussion among the top Tauren leaders, they named it Camp Taurajo and unanimously decided to have the Stareye Clan as the main force, in conjunction with several other clans such as Plainswalkers and Stonehoof. The Stareye Clan is a powerful clan that produces many shamans, and together with several hunter and warrior clans, they can effectively monitor and defend against the wild boars in the south.

After the tauren's arrangements in the southern Barrens were completed, Galen became involved to discuss the defense of the Stonetalon Mountains.

The Stonetalon Mountains and the Northern Barrens are separated by the north-south Stonetalon Mountains. The only passage is a wide valley passage west of the Sweetwater Oasis and Wailing Caverns in the Northern Barrens.

Garin meant to build a fortress at the entrance of the passage, just like the original Time and Space Alliance did, effectively blocking the passage between the interior of the Stoneclaw Mountains and the Barrens.

Jialin has conducted on-site investigations and found that this passage is divided into two. On the south side of the wide valley, there is also a winding mountain path, similar to a winding mountain road.

So Garin proposed that the Crusaders build a fortress on the main road, and the Tauren be responsible for building checkpoints on the winding mountain trails. The two tribes will then jointly control the passage to the Stoneclaw Mountains and support each other.

Kane and his men applauded this suggestion. The Centaurs were a major threat to the Minotaur. Under normal circumstances, Minotaur warriors could even defeat Centaurs that were three times their number. However, the number of Centaurs was ten times that of the Minotaur population. The Minotaur were at a disadvantage because they were outnumbered by the Centaurs, and ultimately chose to migrate their entire clan.

The Centaurs can easily pull out an army of 100,000 men, but the Tauren cannot. This is an imbalance in military strength. Just as Garen knew that Stormwind Kingdom would be conquered sooner or later and Anduin would bring refugees to the north for help, Stormwind Kingdom could win against any tribe among the Seven Kingdoms of Draenor, but they are facing the entire orc tribe. They are completely unequal in size and cannot outnumber the other side in terms of population.

The alliance with Garin gave them hope of making up for the difference in the number of troops. They could easily pull out three legions of more than 20,000 troops from Garin Harbor, and their strength was not weak. This was just the strength of Garin's stronghold. If they were to go all out, they would be able to pull out at least another 100,000 troops. Add to that the strength of the Tauren themselves, and they would not be at all vulnerable even if the Centaurs invaded in full force.

"Shuhalu has assembled a 50,000-man army to deal with the invasion of the centaurs. The centaurs' goal is currently unknown, and the food consumption of the warriors and kodo beasts is too great. It is better to build fortresses and checkpoints as Garin said and wait for the invasion!"

This is why Cairne agreed with Galen, Hamuul agreed, Magatha lowered her head as if in thought, and did not speak. In the Stonetalon Mountains, most of them were warlike Grimtotem warriors, who chose to be the Tauren's line of defense in the north.

"Not only that, we have taken control of the four main roads in the Barrens, which not only strengthens our development of the Barrens, but also greatly expands our sphere of influence!"

At this time, Magatha finally spoke: "The Stonetalon Mountains are rich in mineral and forest resources, which are needed for us to build various defense facilities and large-scale construction in Mulgore. I don't care if you discuss how to defend against the centaur bastards and build fortresses there. If the centaurs come, we must fight. The Stonetalon Mountains cannot be lost!"

Garin looked at Magasa, they were like-minded. Garin also had a strong sense of territory. He would never give up any territory he had acquired. Even if it was a piece of land with no resources, he could use it to build a farm to produce food, right?

"I agree with Sister Magasa. Why should we give up the land we occupy to the Centaurs?"

Upon hearing this, Magasa glanced at Garin and gave him a look that said, "You better know your place, kid."

Garin chuckled and continued, "And the Stoneclaw Mountains are rich in resources. In addition to minerals and timber, as far as I know, there are many wyverns living there. They are a very good flying mount. If they are properly bred and paired with a petite female Shuhalu hunter, they may be a way to break the situation where Shuhalu has no air force!"

Garin made a small recommendation and asked the Tauren people who were good at nomadic and animal domestication to give it a try first. If they succeeded and domesticated the wyvern, wouldn't that give him another option besides the griffin?

Moreover, Garen knew that the Skyhorn Clan, one of the tauren tribes that participated in the War of the Ancients, later forged a deep friendship with the local giant eagles in the Broken Isles. Just as the Wildhammer tribe could tame griffins, the Skyhorn Clan could also produce giant eagle knights.

Garin believed that the wyvern project was feasible. After all, if the orcs could do it, there was no reason why the tauren, who had many clans rich in hunters and were good at nomadic life and raising animals, could not do it either.

After all, the training cycle in the Griffin's Nest is too long, and basically only one person can ride one horse. With the addition of the wyvern, he can recruit people in Stromgarde and form a local human air force!

Garin's words made the three minotaurs' eyes light up. In previous battles, if there had been air troops, they would not have had to fight so hard.

Apart from the Centaurs' homemade bows and arrows that can be used against the air, only a small number of spellcasters can attack aerial targets. The other Centaurs even have their weapons and equipment stolen from the Minotaur, so they can be said to pose no threat to flying units.

As the leader of the Tauren Druids, Hamuul knew that their druid ancestors in ancient times were able to transform into birds, but the War of the Ancients caused a break in the inheritance of the druidic ways.

Compared to the night elves, the followers of Cenarius, the god of nature, who have a complete druid heritage, the tauren, who are raised by a stepmother, can only search for sporadic inherited spells from their ancestors' word of mouth and scrolls.

It was not until twenty years later, after Hamuul participated in the Battle of Mount Hyjal and helped the night elves defeat the invading Burning Legion, that he perfected the druidic ways of the tauren with the help of Malfurion Stormrage.

Garin's suggestion gave them an idea. Finding a suitable flying mount was a good solution. Ancient "flying lizards" such as wyverns had long been competitors for air supremacy, so they could be used as test subjects first.

The prospect is very tempting. The three Tauren leaders unanimously approved the plan to turn Stonetalon Mountains into the Tauren’s backyard, and they would not give up an inch of land!

Today's meeting was very harmonious. Magasa, who had always opposed Kane's decisions, did not refute Kane's opinions throughout the meeting. This made Kane want to stick his head out to see if Anshe was rising from the west today.

Seeing that the meeting of the Tauren was about to end, Garin made a request to them: "Kane, after the construction of the fortress at the Stoneclaw Mountain Pass is completed, I would like to borrow a 5,000-man Kodo Knights from you. In return, I will provide the Shuharu with a legion of sophisticated weapons and equipment."

"I'll make the decision on borrowing troops, no problem, but Garin, do you want to go to war with the wild boar people?"

Cain had no hesitation about lending troops to Garin, and Hamuul and Magatha had no objection either. The Tauren are a race that remembers favors. In the original time and space, the orcs helped them repel the attack of the centaurs. They always felt that Shu'halu owed the orcs a favor. After forming the tribe, the Tauren have been dedicated and worked hard with the orcs. What's more, Garin is now helping them settle down in Mulgore. This favor is even greater!

"The wild boars in the Southern Barrens are too powerful. If we rashly go to war with them, the casualties will be too great! This will affect my layout in the Eastern Continent. My legion in the Friendship Fortress has been blocking the news from the north to Razorfen Kraul. After the Taurajo Camp is established, they will dare not act rashly. After a few years, I will free up my hands to clean them up!"

Garin expressed his thoughts: "The Thornback Boarmen in the Northern Barrens have become my vassals. Now there is only one Steelmank Tribe occupying Thorn Ridge. I need to bring them under the rule of Garin Port and unify the Northern Barrens!"

How can you allow others to snore on the side of the bed?

Not only did Garen have to conquer the Steelmand Tribe of Thorn Ridge north of Garen Port, but he also had to continue to attack the boar people in the Eastern Barrens with the power of victory and occupy the Eastern Barrens, which was the Durotar Peninsula in later generations.

The terrain of the Barrens is very suitable for large-scale cavalry charges. Garin plans to equip all the 5,000 Kodo Knights lent to him by heavy armor, transform them into the Heavy Kodo Knights, and then cooperate with his own more than 2,000 heavy knights to completely attack the army of 100,000 wild boars!

"Five thousand Kodo cavalry is the limit for us Shuhalu. Stonetalon Mountains are not suitable for cavalry combat. Let's put it this way. Dezko already has more than five hundred Dawn Chaser knights. I will add another four thousand five hundred Kodo knights for him to command. For the time being, let him follow you, Garin!"

Kane made his decision.

The father and son of Dezco are the most important link between the Minotaur and Garin, so Cain decided that Dezco would continue to stay with Garin and command five thousand Kodo Knights.

"No problem. I'll take care of the equipment for these five thousand Kodo Knights. After I use them up, I'll guarantee to return you with a brand new Kodo Knights!"

Garin patted his chest and made a promise. The blacksmith shop in Donghai Town has already manufactured a large number of weapons and equipment. The three-attack and three-defense equipment is for its own legion, and the one-attack and one-defense equipment and weapons are used for arms trading. When the time comes, a batch of two-attack and two-defense Tauren equipment and Kodo suspension armor will be made, and the Kodo heavy knight will be formed.

With the load-bearing capacity of the Kodo beasts and their powerful explosive power, this steel torrent is simply amazing! Garin believes that in the future, there will be legends of the Crusader Heavy Knights and the Tauren Kodo Heavy Knights in Azeroth!

After agreeing to meet Dezko at the Friendship Fortress, the meeting ended and everyone went to make preparations.

After the matter was settled, Galen had to go back to prepare to build several fortresses and formulate an attack plan for Thorn Ridge. He and Gandalf took away the Legion of Stone and the Legion of Wrath, leaving only one legion, which was named the First Auxiliary Legion of the Crusaders.

The First Auxiliary Legion of the Crusaders is responsible for guarding the resource points south of the Thorn Blade Canyon, and also to cooperate with Hogg's actions at any time. However, Garin will not send troops to encircle and suppress the werewolves unless it is absolutely necessary. He thinks it is more interesting to directly obtain a tribe of werewolves by borrowing chickens and eggs.

This time, he planned to take advantage of the golden time when the orcs created fog to block the Swamp of Sorrows to increase the construction of his colony on the continent of Kalimdor.

In order to cope with this large-scale construction, Garin also summoned Cliff and his construction corps, and even stopped the farm orders from the nobles in Arathi Highlands.

Garen attached great importance to this plan. The Eastern Kingdoms would become a huge meat grinder during the orcs' northern expedition a few years later.

His expansion in the eastern continent has reached a bottleneck, so he has to seek to expand in Kalimdor before the orcs break through Stormwind City!
