The Love Adventures of a Country Girl

The three-way intersection leads directly to three villages: Sangleiu, Sanliwan, and Sanmenkou.

It is the only way for people from these three villages.

After noon, the place began to see people coming and going again. Some people had just walked out of their villages, while others were rushing back to their warm little homes.

On the roadside, the baby girl's crying continued, but did not impress the passers-by at all.

"Whose child is this?"

A middle-aged woman walked by, unable to bear to look.

The man looked at the crowd gathered at the three-way intersection with a pair of shifty eyes, twisting his swaying body and walking towards the sound of crying.

The drunk man pushed through the crowd and came in from the gap. He looked at the baby on the ground who was being pointed at, and stretched out a pair of big hands in front of the baby.

"Who is he?"

"What to do?"

The crowd of onlookers stared at the sudden drunk man with puzzled expressions.

"It's the weasel from Three Willows!"

"He definitely has bad intentions."

"What does he want to do?"

The famous drunk man, the weasel, was recognized by the crowd at a glance.

Amid the pointing and talking of the crowd, the weasel brazenly untied the baby from the package on the ground to see whether it was missing an arm or a leg.

The onlookers were also surprised by the weasel's action and stared at the crying baby in the package.

"girl?"

"You haven't lost any legs or feet?"

“Why were you abandoned?”

A series of questions reached the weasel's ears.

The weasel laughed loudly and picked up the abandoned baby girl on the ground. His laughter was deafening, as if he was mocking the onlookers.

The onlookers were chattering in shame.

"The weasel is paying New Year's greetings to the chicken. It must have no good intentions."

"That's right. How can someone who is idle all day and can't take care of himself take good care of this poor child?"

"You wouldn't even ask about your own naked teenage son, but would you be so kind as to take in an abandoned baby?"

The weasel rocked the starving baby girl in his arms and spoke complacently, ignoring the barrage of criticism from the crowd.

"From now on, you will be called Yatou, following my last name. You are a real yellow-haired girl."

Seeing the weasel carrying the baby girl away, the onlookers had their own thoughts and speculated that the girl would have a hard time in the future.

The baby girl was held tightly to stop her crying. Feeling insecure, her pair of dark eyes looked around at the strange face.

The sky gradually darkened and it was pitch dark. The baby girl fell asleep in the weasel's swaying arms.

The weasel groped its way back home, taking one deep step and one shallow step. It was already late at night and everyone was asleep.

The hostess and her son in the house were sleeping soundly.

A baby's sharp cry woke the sleeping woman up and made her furious.

"Where does the crying come from?"

The woman's groping hand reached out to a lamp on the bedside and turned it on.

"How come you're holding a baby?"

The woman's angry face disappeared in an instant, and her eyes turned to the crying baby in her man's arms.

"Get up and give her something to eat."

The weasel threw the baby girl in his arms onto the bed and gave orders to his stunned wife.

"Where am I going to get her something to eat, in the middle of the night?"

The woman got up reluctantly and looked at the baby who was thrown on the bed by her husband and was crying non-stop.

"You decide?"

The weasel looked at his wife, said something harsh, then lay down on the bed and fell asleep.

"Where did you get this hot potato?"

The woman looked impatient, but she didn't dare to get angry with her man. Seeing the hungry baby girl crying non-stop, a trace of pity flashed through her heart.

The woman walked into the kitchen, fumbled for the leftover porridge which was still not cold, and quickly wiped it into the hungry mouth of the baby girl.

The baby girl licked the only food in her mouth that could fill her stomach with the tip of her tiny tongue and gobbled it up voraciously.

The woman, exhausted from all the hard work, looked at the well-fed baby girl in front of her, turned off the light, and fell asleep next to the man.

This woman is so fierce!

The baby girl, with her stomach filled, turned her big eyes in the darkness. She finally had a place to stay.

The baby girl lay obediently on this strange bed, not daring to disturb the couple sleeping in the room, and waited quietly for dawn.
