Naruto: We are invincible
Chapter 238 Farewell
"No, Nagato," Naruto took a deep breath and said, "Nothing is impossible," he loosened his grip and let Nagato fall to the ground.
Then, Naruto took a deep breath, released Susanoo, and fell to the ground.
Nagato fell to the ground weakly, his legs were no longer under his control because the previous Chibaku Tensei consumed too much of his chakra.
He looked up and watched as Naruto walked up to him, a black metal rod appearing in his hand.
Naruto picked up the metal rod and stabbed it into Nagato's right shoulder, pinning him to the ground.
The rod would disrupt his chakra, rendering him unable to move.
"Peace," Naruto said, and Nagato looked at him in confusion. "That's what you're after, isn't it?" Naruto asked.
Nagato nodded silently.
"We are not different, Nagato. We are just on opposite sides of fate's chessboard," Naruto said.
"So... it's over?" Nagato asked with difficulty, coughing violently and exhaling a breath of earthy breath. "I thought Konoha preached kindness?" he asked.
"You want me to forgive you for what you've done?" Naruto raised an eyebrow and stopped in front of him. "I'm not proud of it, but I've killed a lot of people, Nagato. Do you think you're any different than them?"
Nagato remained silent, knowing that his rule was over.
"No," Naruto sighed, "In my battle with Gaara, I learned to control my anger and hatred. From my experiences with Itachi and Jiraiya-sensei, I learned to forgive. From the history of the Uchiha clan, I understood the necessity of sacrifice."
"The day I decided to exterminate the Uchiha clan, I buried all my hesitations, guilt, and regrets." Naruto said, and Nagato's eyes widened in surprise.
So that's why Ah Fei had been so angry in the past few weeks and launched the attack early.
"Do you want to know what I learned from the Sage of Six Paths? What will he inherited from his mother?" Naruto asked. Nagato frowned but nodded.
"There is no good or evil in war, only cruelty. Trying to change war is futile. However, the more cruel the war, the faster it will end." Naruto said, raising his hand and another black metal rod appeared in his hand.
"Goodbye, Uzumaki Nagato." Naruto said, watching Nagato close his eyes and then throwing the metal rod in his hand.
Nagato closed his eyes and waited for death to come.
Suddenly, a loud noise made him open his eyes sharply, and he saw Xiaonan standing in front of him, blocking the black metal rod with his body.
She fell to her knees, her wings enveloping them like a cocoon.
Blood gushed out of her mouth, and Nagato saw that the metal rod had pierced her chest and was deeply embedded in the ground.
"Why?" Nagato muttered to himself, his voice trembling.
"Why?" Xiaonan smiled weakly, "Because... a long time ago... we agreed..."
“We’ll be together forever.”
A memory came flooding back to him - a young Nagato, Konan, and Yahiko, arms linked, with happy smiles on their faces.
"Promise?" asked the young Nagato puzzledly.
"Of course!" Konan said, patting his chest, looking very proud, while Yahiko smiled happily beside him.
"Konan?" Nagato called her name, but there was no response.
He looked up and saw that Xiaonan's eyes had lost their luster. She had left this world forever.
"You shouldn't have died... None of us should have died..." Nagato was heartbroken. He raised his head, his eyes filled with hatred towards Naruto. The burning rage almost swallowed him.
"I told you, Nagato," Naruto sighed and looked at Hinata who had come over, "There is no absolute black and white in this world, and there are no winners in war. Although this is cruel, as long as the ninja system exists, tragedies will continue to happen."
"Your so-called peace..."
"Can your answer bring peace?!" Nagato roared, "When I first met you, I heard you say that you wanted to create peace, but what did you do? You just stood by and watched the world go to destruction! Because only on the battlefield can you find your own value!"
"You are wrong, Nagato," Naruto retorted calmly, "What you seek is to suppress everything with force. Such peace is only false and cannot last long. Oppression will only bring more dissatisfaction and resistance, which will not benefit the world in any way."
"So what do you think we should do?" Nagato asked sternly.
"I have my answer, but I don't know how to achieve it," Naruto answered sincerely, "but I can be sure that your way will not work. I will follow my heart, and if someone wants to achieve so-called peace at the expense of the freedom of others, then I will not hesitate to stand on the opposite side of them, just like now."
"Peace is so fragile," Naruto said with a wry smile, "Even the slightest ripple can break its balance... but we have to work for it. And what you did, killing thousands of people for no reason, is the opposite of peace!"
Nagato remained silent, taking every word of Naruto's words to heart.
“Until the last moment, no one knows what kind of person they will become…” He thought of his life, and those scenes flashed before his eyes like a kaleidoscope.
