The Three-Life Stone

At noon, Shen Xingzhi and Yu Zhaozhao arrived at the hospital first. Shen Xingzhi put the things aside, said a few words of sympathy, nodded and left.

"Mom, now you're here, I'm so bored." Sui Rou locked her phone, which was getting a little hot, and put it aside.

Yu Zhaozhao placed the packaged chicken noodle soup on the table with a smile and opened the package: "You must be hungry, eat first."

Sui Rou wanted to go out for a walk, so the nurse checked her cervix again and gave her a few instructions. Then Yu Le drove Sui Rou, Su Yao and Yu Zhaozhao out for a ride.

They had a vegetarian buffet on Golden Street outside the mall and continued to stroll inside the mall. Sui Rou looked at the dress on the model in the window and a trace of loneliness flashed in her eyes, which Yu Zhao Zhao keenly caught.

Yu Le poured a glass of water, Sui Rou took it naturally and drank it with one hand while pressing the remote control with the other hand. Yu Le continued to pour two glasses of water and handed them to Su Yao and Yu Zhaozhao. He helped Sui Rou fill up the glasses and finally poured himself a glass.

After resting for a while, Sui Rou prepared to take a shower. Yu Le was sent over by Su Yao and Yu Zhaozhao to look after him. The two of them made a Cantonese-style sausage stewed rice with the ingredients available in the refrigerator.

After dinner, when it was almost dusk, they strolled around the neighborhood. From time to time, old men and women would ask Suirou if she was about to give birth, with kind and congratulatory looks on their faces.

After taking a few steps, Sui Rou felt the baby in her belly move and she began to feel a dull pain in her stomach.

Su Yao asked how many times the contractions came, but Sui Rou was so confused that she didn't notice anything. Su Yao and Yu Zhaozhao supported Sui Rou on both sides as they walked towards the gate of the community, while Yu Le drove to the parking lot.

Sui Rou smiled awkwardly: "It's just a little bit, it's not that serious."

After entering the delivery area, the nurse checked my cervix and found it was one finger dilated. The fetal heart rate monitoring was normal and the contractions were not frequent.

Sui Rou slept uneasily that night. She lay on her left side for a while and then on her right side. She originally had a sore waist and now had a dull pain in her stomach. The pain only got better after she fell asleep.

The others returned to the hotel, and Yu Le stayed by Sui Rou's bed, keeping an eye on her condition.

Sui Rou slept intermittently until the next morning. She ate the lean meat porridge cooked by Yu Zhaozhao and the fruit platter cut by Su Yao. After rinsing her mouth, she fell asleep again with a hum.

"Am I about to give birth?" Suirou's hair was disheveled, and her usual appearance was gone. Her lifeless eyes showed fatigue. "It hurts..."

Yu Le stayed by Sui Rou's side the whole time, telling her stories about their time at school, trying to divert her attention. He felt sad when he looked at her pitiful eyes, and he wanted to relieve her pain but he was helpless.

The nurse had checked twice and the cervix was two fingers dilated. Yu Le couldn't think of any better way except to accompany and comfort her. Sui Bai finished smoking a cigarette in the bathroom and lit up another one. Shen Xingzhi walked forward in silence and Sui Bai handed him a cigarette.

"Thank you, I'll be fine." Shen Xingzhi took the cigarette. He usually didn't smoke except for social occasions. Now he wanted to smoke one with Sui Bai. "Borrow a light."

Yu Zhaozhao and Su Yao walked into the delivery area, and what they saw at first glance were two inexperienced people, one pretending to be calm, and the other wanted to cry but couldn't.

When Yu Le saw someone coming, he nodded and called out, "Mom", then walked out with his eyes slightly lowered.

Yu Le came back from the bathroom with slight red bloodshot eyes. Sui Rou had fallen asleep.

"Take a nap on the bed next to you. You've worked hard." Su Yao's hand rested on Yu Le's shoulder for a moment.

"Thank you, Mom."

Yu Zhaozhao took a bottle of mineral water and gave it to Yu Le: "Go ahead, we are here."

"Ah."

Sui Rou slept for two hours. The contractions seemed not so strong and the fetal heart rate monitoring was normal. She turned her head to glance at the sleeping Yu Le. Su Yao took the water cup over, and Sui Rou took a sip and continued to sleep.

She woke up again in pain. The contractions were strong and beads of sweat appeared on her forehead. Sui Bai outside the curtain immediately called a doctor. Yu Zhaozhao opened the prepared Red Bull and fed it to Sui Rou. The doctors and nurses pushed a stretcher over and Yu Le carried Sui Rou on it.

In the operating room, Sui Rou signed the document while enduring the pain. The pain after her amniotic fluid broke made her want to faint, but she couldn't. She had to face this battle.

"I won't have any more children. It hurts so much."

These words kept echoing in Sui Rou's mind.

After the baby came out, the nurse carried the baby to Suirou and asked, "Look, is it a boy or a girl?"

"Girl." Sui Rou almost collapsed.

"Yes, that's right." The nurse continued to weigh the child and simply cleaned the package. "A big fat girl weighing six pounds and six ounces. Remember that." After saying that, she carried the child out.

After the baby was born and the placenta was still there, she was simply cleaned up and Sui Rou continued to lie on the stretcher and was pushed out of the operating room.

At the door of the operating room, Yu Le saw Sui Rou coming out and greeted her: "It's okay, the baby has gone to the delivery room, leave it to me from now on, you have a good rest."

Sui Rou's lips curved slightly: It's all worth it.
