The Three-Life Stone

Chapter 15 Awakening from Dream

"You...what did you do? What did you do to him?" Shangguan Wan'er glared at the laughing man fiercely, if looks could kill.

"Hehe, what am I doing? He's just a hostage who's coveting my woman. What's wrong with using him?" Bei Mingchen sneered as if he was talking about a trivial matter.

"What nonsense are you talking about? He is just a child, what can he understand?"

"Child? He is just a child in your eyes. You are still a teenage girl now. Is he still the boy in his teens?" Bei Mingchen glanced at Shangguan Wan'er and continued, "No matter what, I still have to thank you, but you actually chose to deceive me and escape. Considering that your merits and demerits are equal, I will give you a quick death."

Shangguan Wan'er sat there in silence, allowing herself to be taken into the cell, and began to calculate the whole story. Xia Jin was confused. She could understand everything that happened in the past, and even remember something, but she couldn't understand a word of today's conversation. What did she miss in the middle?

At this moment, she felt that her consciousness seemed to leave Shangguan Wan'er's body. Before leaving, she seemed to see the shadow of Bei Mingmo. Was it an illusion?

On the bed, Xia Jin's closed eyes moved and her fingers trembled slightly. Qinghuan, who was guarding the bed, had a sad expression on his face, which gradually turned into joy. Qinghe, who was guarding the door, heard the noise and immediately rode back to Xia's house to convey the news and then immediately rushed back.

Tao Hong then hurriedly got up from the bed, not caring about how long she had slept, nor about the rules of gender, and immediately sat behind Qinghe's horse and went to the palace together. Wang Po went to cook some light porridge on her own initiative, and Uncle Chen helped, hoping to catch up before the lady woke up.

After a while, Tao Hong and Qing Huan brought water to carefully wipe the face of Xia Jin, who was sleeping uneasily. Qing Huan even held Xia Jin's hand and placed it on his own face.

"Sister Jin, please don't sleep anymore, please wake up. What's wrong with you? Haven't you slept well yet? Please get up and talk to us... If you haven't slept well, please get up and eat something before going back to sleep. Who can stand sleeping like this without eating?"

"Qinghuan, stop talking. Madam will be fine. I noticed that Madam is different today than usual. She should wake up soon. If you keep crying like that, I'll be worried when Madam wakes up." Tao Hong said as she pinched the corner of the quilt for Xia Jin, but she was not sure in her heart.

Qing He, who was still immersed in his sister's words at the door, felt that what Tao Hong said made sense: "Huan, what Sister Tao said is right. We all need to be happy and let Madam rest assured."

Gradually, Xia Jin calmed down as if she had fallen asleep again. Everyone became uneasy again. Was she not going to wake up yet? Sometimes she would feel uneasy and shed tears when she fell asleep before, but her body hardly moved. But today, her hands moved and people thought she was really going to wake up.

Xia Jin has regained consciousness. She can hear their conversation and feel their worry, but she is too tired, as if she hasn't slept well for a long time. Now she just wants to sleep quietly for a while.

After sleeping for about half an hour, Xia Jin finally woke up. Looking at the anxious faces around her, she felt a little guilty and shouted with a dry throat: "Water."

"Hey, here's the water. It's been warm. I was so happy when I saw Madam wake up that I forgot to take it." Wang Po handed the water over and burst into tears. She stepped back a little embarrassed. "Oh, I'm old now, I just can't control my emotions."

"You'd better take it easy. Madam has finally woken up. Don't make things difficult for her." Uncle Chen helped Wang Po to step aside.

"Is this... the royal palace?" Xia Jin asked with certainty.

"Yes, last time Sister Ajin fainted outside, I was so scared. Fortunately, the prince and his men passed by and brought her to the palace. The prince sympathized with your health and let you stay. Sister Ajin, you're finally awake." Qinghuan pouted as she narrated. Xiaoyue took out the porridge brought by Wang Po and placed it on the table. After Qinghuan led Xia Jin to do a simple cleanup, the porridge was almost warm.

Xia Jin sat down and ate two mouthfuls of porridge. Her complexion gradually became rosier and her throat felt better. She drank a few more mouthfuls and said, "I'm sorry to have worried you these days. Have I slept for a long time?"

"That's right." Tao Hong and Qing Huan said at the same time. After that, they smiled at each other, and the psychological burden of the past few days was finally put down.

"Three whole days, not eating or drinking for three days, even an iron body can't stand it." Qing Huan continued to add, "If she still sleeps, I'm determined to punch her twice to wake her up and eat and drink."

"Madam was in a coma and couldn't even swallow ginseng water. The imperial physician said that she was fine, but we didn't know the reason and could only worry. Fortunately, Madam has woken up." Xiaoyue smiled and poured Xia Jin another glass of water. Wang Po packed up the lunch box and went back with Uncle Chen to prepare dinner for the evening.

Only three days?

Xia Jin was stunned, as if she was in another world.

"I heard that Madam Xia has woken up." Bei Mingmo strode in, the corners of his lips slightly raised, truly a peerless young man, his voice gentle and low with a hint of sonority, "Then this makes me feel relieved."

Xia Jin raised her eyes and looked at the man walking in from outside the door. She didn't know how to react for a moment. It seemed like a glance was a thousand years, but reason was telling her that she was not dreaming.

Bei Mingmo looked at the silly Xia Jin and laughed: "Why, are you stupid because of sleep?"

Xia Jin reacted and bowed: "Greetings, Your Majesty."

"You're welcome, Madam Xia. How are you feeling now? If you feel unwell, please ask someone to come and see you."

"Thank you, Your Majesty. We are sorry for bothering you these days. We will pack up and leave soon."

"It's okay. Madam Xia can wait until she is well again before returning. My palace doesn't need a room or food."

Xia Jin stared at the man in front of her for a few seconds, her eyes hiding thousands of words, which finally turned into one sentence: "Thank you for your concern, Your Highness. Now that Ah Jin has woken up, it would be against the rules to stay here any longer."

After returning, she went to the warehouse to find some common herbs, and stayed up all night to embroider a small brocade bag. The next day, she did not sleep for long and came to the palace early to wait. About an incense stick later, she handed the sachet to the prince, and told him to carry it with him no matter where he was, and also said that he could prepare some herbs at ordinary times.

Bei Mingmo originally wanted to ask why she accepted his sachet and even carried it with her. He knew what she was thinking, but when he saw her serious look, he lost all desire to joke.

More than a month later, Bei Ming Mo heard the news of the war with Wan Guo. He felt it was his duty to defend his country. Even if the emperor did not give an order, he would ask for it. A man should have ambitions and who doesn't have a dream of being a hero?
