The courtyard: the atmosphere of human life

Chapter 9: Not Provoking Trouble, Not Afraid of Trouble

When we arrived at school, the first class of the afternoon had already begun.

"Does she have a class in the afternoon?" Darong asked Sibeier beside her.

“I don’t know.” Sibei scratched his head and smiled awkwardly.

This fourth brother is really not good at studying. He sleeps from morning till night at school every day. He never even pays attention to what classes are or whose classes are they.

The first thing at the entrance of the teaching building is the office. Sibei leaned over the glass and took a look. There was no one in the office. It seemed that the teachers were all teaching in the classroom.

Darong took Sibei directly to the classroom, and sure enough, they were having Mr. Zhang's history class.

"Who are you?" Teacher Zhang, who was standing on the stage chanting, asked while adjusting his glasses after seeing Darong push the door in.

"I am Yuan Fusheng's sister." Darong replied coldly.

After hearing Darong's answer, Teacher Zhang raised his hands that were leaning on the desk, stood up straight on the podium with a superior attitude.

"You came just in time, so I don't have to go back home to look for him. Does Yuan Fusheng still want to get married? He just fights and makes trouble all day long, and bullies people everywhere."

"Fighting and making trouble? My brother has always had the best temper. To provoke him to the point of fighting, you have to be a very inhumane person to do that."

Darong's voice was not loud, but her tone was very deep and sharp.

Teacher Zhang beat Sibeier in front of the whole class that morning, so all the children in the class knew that the beating was about Teacher Zhang's child.

At this moment, all the sleeping children sat up straight, full of energy. This was much more enjoyable than the boring history class.

"How can you talk like that..."

"How can you be a human being? Have you asked the whole story? Do you know why my brother beat him up? He was a beast without a mother or a father. My brother beat him up to get rid of harm to the people."

"you you……"

Teacher Zhang is actually a person who looks strong on the outside but is weak on the inside. He usually acts like a teacher in front of students, but once he meets a tough guy, he can't even speak clearly.

Darong looked at Teacher Zhang who was glaring and venting his anger, ignored him, and walked straight to Teacher Zhang's son with big strides.

"Why did Yuan Fusheng hit you? Tell me yourself. If you have a reason, just say it. What kind of ability is it to rely on the teacher to suppress others? You still have the nerve to say that you are a boy!"

Darong never spoke loudly, but every word she spoke was clear and powerful.

I don’t know if Teacher Zhang’s son was frightened by Darong’s behavior. He sat in his seat, blinking his eyes stupidly, and couldn’t say a word just like his mother.

Sibei stood at the door of the classroom, looking at his sister's heroic appearance, and an unconscious feeling of pride spread throughout his body.

"I know. I saw it all. He was the one who bullied the kid in the first grade. He was so ruthless that Yuan Fusheng couldn't stand it anymore and tried to stop the fight. But he ended up beating up the person who tried to stop the fight. He was a loser and couldn't beat the kid, so he turned the tables and went to complain to the teacher."

A boy sitting in the last row spoke loudly and righteously.

"Did you hear that? My brother got slapped by you for nothing. What are you going to do about this?"

After the boy finished speaking, Darong felt more confident. She turned around calmly and looked at Teacher Zhang who was still in a daze on the podium.

"What should we do? It won't hurt to beat him up. He just fights and makes trouble all day long." Teacher Zhang held it in for a long time before finally saying this.

"That's not how it works. You should treat my brother as he is. When he was wrong, you should have taught him a lesson and contacted his parents. But now my brother is not to blame, but you slapped him in the face for nothing. You need to give us a reasonable explanation."

Although Darong is young, she has a clear mind and logical language. She is here today to support her brother. How could she give up until she achieves her goal?

Teacher Zhang stood on the stage with a grim face, unable to say a word. Her son was indeed wrong in what happened today. She knew the reason clearly, but she still beat Yuan Fusheng in order to support her son and prevent anyone in the class from daring to beat him again.

She had known Yuan Fusheng's mother's temper for a long time, and thought that she would be able to handle it even if his mother came. However, she did not expect that Yuan Fusheng had such a difficult sister.

The classroom was so quiet that one could hear a pin drop. Teacher Zhang and Darong just stared at each other in silence for a few seconds.

"Pa!" The clear and loud sound of slapping broke the awkward atmosphere, and everyone stared with their eyes wide open, not daring to breathe.

Darong turned around and slapped Teacher Zhang's son in the face.

"Go back to your seat, study hard, and stop causing trouble as you are about to graduate." Darong instructed Sibeier who was standing at the door.

Then he turned around and faced Teacher Zhang on the podium.

"Let's forget about what happened today. We will forgive you from now on, and you are not allowed to cause trouble for my brother again."

Darong said something gentle to Teacher Zhang at the podium, then turned and left the classroom.

Half a day after Darong left, Teacher Zhang still hadn't recovered from his emotions, and his son sat in his seat in a daze, covering half of his face, not moving.

I don’t know who started applauding first, but suddenly the whole class burst into applause.

"Sibei, your sister is so awesome!" The boy who had just spoken up for justice and was sitting in the back row, shouted loudly to Sibei who was at the door.

There were cheers from the audience, but Sibei walked back to his seat with his head held high, like a hero, amid the inexplicable applause.

Teacher Zhang on the stage was about to cry, so he threw the books on the desk fiercely, turned around, slammed the door and walked out of the classroom.

Darong has already regained the face that the young boy wanted for Sibeier. From now on, he can finish the rest of the semester in peace and stability.

But after leaving school, Darong felt a little uneasy, wondering if Teacher Zhang would come to her home.

But Darong has a good personality. Instead of thinking about things that she doesn't know whether they will happen, it is better to go home early, pack up her things and get some sleep.

Because the breakfast department had to go to work at 4 a.m., Darong left home at 3: every day. At that time, there was only one bicycle at home, so Darong could only walk to work. In the winter, the road was difficult to walk in the wind and snow, so she would leave home a little earlier.

Xizi went back to work and went to send Darong to work every morning. Every day when they arrived at the breakfast department, Darong would save a bun from her own breakfast for Xizi. Xizi would eat the bun and then go home.

Sometimes, even if Xizi did not come back from Zhouzhuang the night before, when Darong was about to go to work, you could hear the sound of Xizi scratching the door with his claws, which meant that he had come back on time to send Darong to work.

Darong is not a person who likes pets, but Xizi is an exception. It follows Darong in and out every day regardless of rain or shine, and the relationship between the man and the dog has become deeper and deeper.

"Go home early after you finish eating. There have been dog-beating incidents recently. If you hear any noise, avoid them and don't get caught."

After Darong gave Xizi a bun, she touched its head and gave it a few instructions.
