The general's wife knows medicine

Chapter 24: Having Your Own Room

The next day, Tang Peipei got up early, had breakfast, and went to the carpenter's shop.

"Excuse me, what would this young lady like to buy?" The clerk in the carpenter's shop came forward and greeted Tang Peipei.

"Hey young man, I want to find a master to make a bed for me, something simple."

"Please follow me." The waiter led Tang Peipei to the backyard.

There was a master hammering in the yard, with two apprentices helping him.

"Master Lu, this young lady wants to make a bed." The waiter pointed at Tang Peipei and said to the master.

Master Lu put down the work in his hands and came to Tang Peipei.

"What kind of bed does this lady want to make?"

"Master Lu, I just want to make a simple bed. A bed board, four legs, and a frame with the legs extending upwards to hang curtains in the summer. In addition, I also need a long table. I have the drawing here, please take a look." Tang Peipei handed the table drawing that she had drawn earlier to Master Yuan.

The long table is actually an ordinary long table with two drawers on both sides under the table. In the middle, Tang Peipei drew a board similar to the one on a computer desk for the keyboard. The board is surrounded by a one-centimeter-high wooden board, which is used by Tang Peipei to place paper.

"That's no problem, it's very simple."

"Well, Master Lu, I wonder when it will be ready?"

Master Lu looked at Tang Peipei and said, "If you need it urgently, it will take at least four days."

"Okay, thank you very much, Master. May I know the price?"

"Our normal price for a bed is eight taels of silver at the lowest, but since this is simple, I'll charge you five taels. I'll also charge you five taels for the table. A total of ten taels of silver."

Tang Peipei almost dropped her jaw in shock. My God, ancient beds are so expensive? It's more expensive than the house she rented for a year! Her house only cost a little over 400 taels in a year.

"Well, the beds you made before all needed carvings and stuff, but mine doesn't need anything, and you still want five taels? Master Lu, can you give me less?"

"Then how much do you think is appropriate? You are in a hurry!"

"Mine is so simple. You are an old master. This is something you can do easily. How long will it take you to do it? What do you think?" Tang Peipei said with a smile.

Master Lu: "So what do you think is a suitable amount?"

"Well, I won't say less. I don't need you to carve the table either. Just a simple one will do. How about I give you eight taels in total?"

"Okay, okay." Master Lu waved at Tang Peipei, asked her to find the waiter to place an order, and then went back to his work.

When they arrived at the store, Tang Peipei and the waiter placed an order and paid a deposit of three taels of silver.

Four days after the appointment, the bed and table were delivered to Tang Peipei's residence in Restaurant Alley, Kaiyuan Road.

Tang Peipei then went to the bookstore and bought pens, ink, paper, inkstone and paints.

After shopping, Tang Peipei went straight home. Her main task now is to draw more design drafts. She hopes to take her mother and little Tuanzi on a trip in the near future.

"Peipei, are you back?" Tang's mother and Nanny Yuan were busy making winter clothes.

"Well, come here, little dumpling, let mommy hug you." Tang Peipei picked up the little dumpling from the rocking bed and kissed his soft face.

"Does little Tuanzi miss mommy? Are you behaving well at home?"

"Yiyaya~~" Little Dumpling spoke in fluent baby talk that no one could understand.

"Hey, little Dumpling, you want to talk, right? Do you want to say that you miss your mother very much?"

Tang Peipei's self-questions and answers made the two people who were sewing clothes laugh so hard that their teeth were showing.

"Look at this girl. She's so narcissistic." Tang's mother teased.

"That's not necessarily true. Maybe that's what little girl thinks." Nanny Yuan said before Tang Peipei could respond.

"Look, Nanny Yuan is still the best. You always make fun of me, mother." Tang Peipei said, turning her face to the side and pretending to be angry.

"Oh, you're still angry?" Tang's mother laughed even louder.

Tang Peipei couldn't help laughing.

The room was filled with laughter.

Four days later, the bed and table customized by Tang Peipei were delivered on time.

I settled the bill with the delivery guy, paid the remaining money, and asked him to help me install it.

From then on, Tang Peipei finally had her first room here that belonged to her alone.

Tang's mother originally wanted to switch rooms with Tang Peipei and let her live in her previous room, but Tang Peipei said she needed an independent, quiet environment when she was creating.

Thinking that the room was indeed independent and quiet, Tang's mother was afraid that it would affect Tang Peipei's work, so she had to give up.

Since Tang Peipei had her own independent space, she rarely went out.

Apart from eating and feeding the little boy milk, I basically don't leave the room.

Tang's mother and Nanny Yuan also tried their best not to disturb her, and all matters were decided between the two of them.

The winter solstice soon arrived.

On the day of the winter solstice, Tang Peipei handed over the drawings that were due this month to Zeng Xiuyuan.

"Today is the Winter Solstice, let's have dinner together?" Zeng Xiuyuan put away the drawings.

"Don't you need to go home to be with your mother?"

Zeng Xiuyuan: "I'll go back to spend the holiday with her in the evening."

Tang Peipei thought about it and realized that she actually wanted to eat hot pot, especially in winter, when hot pot was the most enjoyable.

"How about this, you bring your aunt to my house tonight, and we'll have hot pot in the evening."

"Hot pot? What is it?" Zeng Xiuyuan had never heard of what hot pot was. He looked at Tang Peipei curiously, waiting for her to explain.

Unexpectedly, Tang Peipei simply ignored his curiosity and walked downstairs.

"Wait, you haven't told me what hotpot is yet?" Zeng Xiuyuan saw the man walking away and hurriedly chased after him.

"You'll know when you come in the evening. I'm leaving first. I have to go shopping. I'm busy." After saying that, he left without looking back.
