Legend of Dream God in a Little Dream

Chapter 22: Transaction (Part 2: The Battle between Man and Demon)

As the sky gradually darkened, an old man led his granddaughter to the beach to check today's catch.

Gradually walking towards the beach, in front of him, there was a figure lying on the beach, "Did someone drown? Or am I really getting old and dizzy?"

As he got closer and closer to the figure, he was sure that someone was really drowning.

The old man used his hand to feel if the person lying there was still breathing. He put his hand on Zengjun's nostrils and could feel a faint breath.

The old man withdrew his hand, "He's still breathing, can we save him? Will it hurt an old man like me?"

Suddenly the little girl pulled his hand and said, "Grandpa, what's wrong with him?"

"Oh~ He is sleeping, we should not disturb him"

Zengjun felt very sad when he heard this, and spit out a few mouthfuls of water for fear of scaring them.

Zeng Jun slowly sat up and looked at the old man, "You saved me?"

The old man took the little girl closer to Zengjun, "Yes, you can't hurt us"

"Of course. What are you planning to do here?"

The old man pointed to the water and said, "We put a fisherman in the water. It's getting dark now. Let's take a look at the catch."

Zengjun stood up, took off his clothes and squeezed the water out of them, then squeezed his pants. Because of the little girl, Zengjun simply dealt with the water on his pants.

After finishing, he put on his clothes and walked to the old man, "I accidentally fell off the cliff. Fortunately, I met you and you were kind enough to save me."

The old man paused for a moment, perhaps because he felt guilty, because he even wanted to leave immediately. "Then you can help me collect the fish cage. I am old and my strength is not good enough."

"Okay, old man, please take me to see it."

“Come with me,” the old man turned and went to where the fish cages were.

Zengjun pulled up the rope that secured the fish cage and put the cage away.

The fish cage is shaking, which is good news, indicating that there are at least fish.

After pulling the fish onto the beach, Zengjun carried the fish cage to the old man.

The old man was very happy. "Not bad, not bad. We have two fish. Although they are not big, they will provide us with food for tonight."

"Where shall we go next?"

"You probably don't have a place to live yet, if you don't mind, you can stay at my place for now."

"Then I'll have to lead the way."

After walking for a while, we arrived at a small town where most of the houses were thatched houses.

Zengjun looked around and was puzzled by the fact that the villagers basically only had pots and hoes. The axes were made of iron, and the rest were made of wood.

Wait, Zeng Jun sensed a place with a lot of iron, and even a hammer and pliers that no one else had. Zeng Jun looked up and saw the sign "Blacksmith Shop"

"This is where iron is forged." The old man continued walking, and then explained to him, "You must have passed by our place. We have been at war for many years, and a lot of iron has been taken away by the army."

Zeng Jun asked in confusion, "Fight? Fight for what?"

"I don't know about that. You've looked around for a while and you can hardly see any young people. They were all taken away to fight. The only ones left are the elderly, the weak, women and children. Alas."

Zengjun ran to the old man with the fish cage and said, "So, her..."

"Yes, he was captured seven years ago."

"What about her mother?"

The old man touched the little girl's head and said, "Her mother should still be alive, but she is not in good condition."

"What's wrong?"

"Her mother was captured by bandits in the mountains after giving birth to Lulu."

"Bandits? The army doesn't care?"

"The army has never been strong enough, how can we send more troops to suppress the bandits?" The old man continued walking.

Zengjun followed behind him.

The old man came to a thatched hut, pushed open the door, came out with a small pot, placed it on a few stones, and then added firewood into it.

Zengjun looked at the firewood that the old man put in. They were all small pieces of wood, so he probably could only pick up some broken pieces.

The old man was carrying a bucket of water and walking tremblingly.

Zengjun hurried over and took the work from the old man's hands, "Let me do it, let me do it"

Zengjun picked up the bucket, brought it to the pot and poured the water into it.

The old man went in again and got two stones and some animal fur.

A fire was lit in front of the pot, Zengjun took the stone and made sparks under the old man's guidance.

The burning fur was placed into the pile of stones, smoke gradually rose, and after a while sparks appeared.

Zengjun took two fish out of the cage and asked, "Don't you want to wash them first?"

The old man is checking to see if the water is on. "No, it's better to make sure we are not starving than to make sure it's clean. Water is hard to fetch."

Zengjun put the fish back into the fish cage and went into the house to look for something that looked like a wooden board.

There were few things in the room, just the necessities of life.

Zengjun walked out of the house and brought in a stone.

The stone is long and thick, but the only flaw is that the water surface is uneven.

Zengjun picked up the bucket and rinsed the stains on the stones, then put the fish in the fish cage on it.

"By the way, do you have any sharp implements to cut the fish?"

"Didn't you go in there once just now? Here we only have some iron ones."

"Okay then," Zengjun brought Lulu into the house, poured some water and washed his hands.

He picked up a fish, cut open its belly, and took out the entrails of the two fish. When he was about to throw it away, the old man stopped him and said, "Don't waste it. You just got here and you may not understand how hard it is to get food."

"Okay," Zengjun handed the entrails to the old man, who threw them into the pot.

Zengjun picked up a stone from the ground, rinsed it twice and prepared to scrape the scales from the fish.

The old man wanted to stop him, but he suddenly felt that this might be the worst meal they would have in the future. "It's up to you. I have never eaten fish without scales. It's a good opportunity to try it."

Zengjun gave the processed fish to the old man, who put the fish into the pot. Zengjun poured some water to wash his hands, then went into the house and took Lulu out.

After a while, the old man took a wooden spoon and scooped a bowl of soup for Zengjun.

Zengjun looked at the bowl handed to him by the old man, which contained a fish head.

Zeng Junshou declined, "I'm not hungry. You two eat. I'll go out for a walk," then turned and walked out.

Zengjun walked back to the place that made him feel strange based on his memory.

Came to the blacksmith shop and just walked in.

A young man's voice said, "How can I help you, little friend?"

"Little boy? Me?"

"Um,"

Zengjun walked in and said, "Forget it, can you make me a bow?"

"Of course, do you bring your own iron?"

"no"

The young man motioned for Songjun to sit down, and the young man sat on the bench, "So you plan to buy this from me, right?"

Zengjun sat down, "How many gold coins?"

The young man smiled and said, "The transaction here has nothing to do with gold coins."

"Then what do you want?"

"Food, trade for food"

"Okay, so how much food do I need for the bow and ten arrows I want?"

"Three pounds of meat or seven pounds of grain"
