Chapter 137: The God of Cookery Banquet
"Come with me, we'll talk while we walk."
After explaining to the woman in green that they would be staying at the manor tonight, Eli led them through a small path and came to a three-story wooden building.
The small building was dimly lit, quiet and gentle, like a firefly in the darkness of the night.
But the aroma it exudes makes people know that it is not as simple as it seems.
"What a nice smell, are they making cakes inside?" Patrick took a deep breath, "This smell is so tempting."
Phil Gray used the moonlight and the lights in the building to see several patterns of wheat ears carved on the wall, symbolizing harvest and deliciousness.
"Are you still there? We want to buy something." Eli led them up two flights of stairs to the top floor and stopped outside a door.
"Coming, coming." After a long time, someone finally opened the door. It was a man wearing a chef's hat. He looked to be about thirty years old, with thick black hair that was a little curly, a clean face but with some spots, and a rolling pin in his hand.
"Now, please prepare for us a table of your specialties, high-end dishes specially made for those favored by God, and a few bottles of fine wine from your collection!" Eli led them into the house and said to the chef.
"Eli, I'm grateful that you like my food, but high-end dishes require expensive ingredients." The chef said tactfully, but in fact he was worried that this new colleague would eat and drink for free.
"Of course I know. I won't give you less." Eli glanced at him and found a place to sit down with Phil Gray and the others.
The third-floor outer room of this wooden building is beautifully decorated. There are many round tables and chairs, and the wall is painted with the image of the goddess of harvest, who is giving seeds and fertile soil to believers. There are glass bottles filled with wheat on several tables, showing the characteristics of the God of Food.
"That's good. I happen to be making a new type of cake. Let me let you try it first." The chef's face was full of pride when he mentioned the cake. It was his masterpiece.
Phil Gray discovered that this chef's divine power was surprisingly strong, and should be of a remarkable level. The delicious food made by a god-favored person of this level also made him feel a little bit of anticipation.
"Let's talk about how you left the abyss." Eli could hardly contain his curiosity. He knew the abyss very well and naturally understood that escaping from the abyss was an extremely unusual thing.
Phil Gray told them everything he knew.
After hearing this, Eli looked thoughtful. He picked up the water cup on the table and put it to his mouth, only to find that there was no water in it, so he put it down heavily again.
"What's wrong? You look like you're worried about something. Did my experience remind you of something?" Phil Gray asked.
"No, I just didn't expect the legendary Abyss of the Dead to be like this." Eli shook his head and continued, "You said at the end that the undead of the Dawn Cult that followed you have arrived at Malu Island?"
"Yes, but I haven't heard any news about him yet. Patrick's pirate friends are very well-informed about news and will not miss any information about him."
"This has nothing to do with us. Maybe he had some unfulfilled wishes when he was alive, and now he is fulfilling them." Eli speculated, and then looked at Phil Gray, "You said before that you would help Miss Caroline if you have the ability. Are you still going? Do you think that the dead soul will go to the Dawn Church here? After all, he was a follower of the Daytime Prophet when he was alive, and he might be attracted to the church after his death."
"Oh, by the way, what you said reminds me of the fate of Miss Caroline that day..." Phil Gray told him what he had seen.
The scene was described in detail, and there was a vague worry about the darkness that was seen later. "I don't know to what extent the burned church that Caroline mentioned was burned, but the intact appearance in the scene is a bit strange."
"Here, here, try this cake first!"
Just as Eli was about to speak, he saw the chef coming over with a light yellow cake with a pattern of wheat ears painted on it. He couldn't help but complain, "Marcus, can you be more careful? All your cakes have looked like this for a few days!"
"But all cakes taste different, don't they? This is what makes it a surprise. Otherwise, before you eat it, you will have already remembered its taste just by looking at its appearance. How can you enjoy it then?" Marcus argued.
"What a fallacy!" Eli said he couldn't understand the chef's thinking.
"Okay, you guys eat first, I'll go make other dishes." Marcus called out and went back to the kitchen.
"Then cousin, shall we go find Miss Caroline you mentioned? It sounds like she is indeed dangerous." Patrick took the knife and asked while cutting the cake.
"I want to go and take a look first, and help if I can. But if we can't handle it on our own, let's write a letter to ask the Dawn Divine Church for help." Phil Gray took the cake and took a bite. The cream was sweet but not greasy. The inside of the cake was a soft sponge cake with a layer of sweet and sour jam. It was so addictive that you couldn't stop eating it.
"I agree. I'll write a letter to the owner later. I have helped him plant many edible flowers, such as green lotus, oxtail flower, etc. My work is done and it's time for me to leave." Eli replied, hoping that the owner would not mind that he was resigning after just a few days on the job.
"This cake is so delicious. I wonder how Marcus made it?" Patrick did not participate in their conversation. Instead, his attention was attracted by the cake. He couldn't help but exclaim in admiration.
"I used the secret recipe of the God of Cookery and my own skills to prepare this. You are very lucky to be able to taste it." Marcus actually heard the guest's praise, and poked his head out of the kitchen and said proudly.
"Your skills?" Phil Gray asked curiously. He was actually very curious about what kind of skills each god would bestow upon his followers.
However, as the God of Harvest and Food, it sounds like the skills of His followers must be related to food.
"I can control the taste of food and make it more delicious and more suitable for everyone's taste." Marcus didn't mind telling them. He said proudly, "For example, this cake you are eating now has a light jasmine scent for you, a refreshing lemon flavor for Eli, and a rich chocolate flavor for the red-haired gentleman."
"Really? That's amazing!" Patrick exclaimed.
