I am the Pope in the Western Fantasy World
Chapter 148 Named Night
When the first rays of dawn appeared, Phil Gray and his companions had already arrived outside the city. A large train carrying pedestrians was roaring in, and they were waiting in the open space.
Ernest was alert to his surroundings, while Eli was bored and playing with the black cat in Phil Gray's arms, with scratches all over his hands.
"Should we buy a ticket for this little guy?" Eli asked.
"Probably not." Phil Gray replied, and the black cat jumped onto his shoulder, looking into the distance proudly.
"We're here," Ernest reminded.
They boarded a large train, planning to depart from Dur City, all the way to the east coast of the Western Continent, and then board a ship to the Eastern Continent.
It passes through many cities along the way, but some large trains are continuous and only require transfers in a few cities.
"Have a nice trip!" At the moment when the train was about to start, Ron came to see them off, panting. He had to see the black cat leave with his own eyes before he could feel at ease to buy the next fire-blood fish.
"Goodbye!" They waved to Ron.
After getting on the train, Phil Gray and his companions looked at the black cat on their shoulders.
It was too dark last night and I didn't get a detailed look at the cat.
It is pure black, with emerald green eyes and a fluffy tail that looks like a small broom.
"Its claws can step on thorns, and its body can pass through vines. It's very good at dodging. I wonder how powerful it is at attacking?" Eli was a little curious.
Phil Gray smiled and said, "Maybe it doesn't attack very well, otherwise how could there be such shallow scratches on your hands?"
"Okay, but is this cat going to follow us forever? What are you going to name it?" Eli said as he took out the Life Church newspaper he had just bought in the morning. He hadn't read it in a few days and didn't know if there was any important news.
"Just follow us for now. We haven't figured out its true identity yet. As for its name, let fate decide." Phil Gray thought that his naming skills seemed a little low.
I don't intend to rack my brains to think about it.
He pointed at the newspaper in Eli's hand, "What are the first two words in the headline in the second column of the newspaper in your hand?"
“Ah?” Eli took a look and read aloud, “The brightest star in the night – the legendary life of Conrad Garden, the bard of the Kingdom of Barrow. The first two words, night? It fits the color of this kitten.”
"Then this is fate's arrangement. Dark Night, it sounds good." Phil Gray smiled and scratched the cat's chin. "What do you think of this name?"
The black cat licked his hand, and he took that as consent.
"But why is your Life Church newspaper telling about a bard?"
"Oh, then you don't know. This bard named Conrad is a legendary figure in the Church of Life. He traveled all over the world of Weir and composed a large number of hymns for the God of Life and some celebrities of the church. He also spread the psalms to many places." Eli explained.
"So that's it."
Dalie walked towards his destination, and the three of them took out the poker cards they had prepared and continued to "fight the nobles".
"Meow~"
Night suddenly cried out and jumped out of Phil Gray's arms.
"What's wrong?" Phil Gray asked.
But it disappeared in the blink of an eye.
"Oops!"
The three of them ran through the passage, looking for the cat, but it had disappeared without a trace.
Just when they didn't know where to look, they heard a surprised voice coming from a compartment in front of them - "Ah", it sounded like a lady.
But the noise soon died down.
Phil Gray glanced at Eli, "Could it be our cat?"
Eli walked forward and knocked on the wooden board. "Excuse me, is there a cat in there?"
"Yes," the female voice replied, opening the cubicle door.
A shadow flashed by, and Night jumped onto Phil Gray's shoulder, licking his paw.
"I'm sorry, I think it scared you," Phil Gray apologized.
Sitting in front of him was a plump lady, wearing a pearl necklace, a white lace collar dress, and a silver belt inlaid with scattered diamonds. She looked quite wealthy.
"Yes, I was scared, but this cat is really cute. Look, it ate all the dried fish I just took out." She was holding an empty bag with the logo of the Church of the God of Food painted on it.
"I'm so sorry. We'll compensate you." Phil Gray took out the gold coins. "I wonder how much this bag of dried fish costs?"
"No need. Even if I treat it to a meal, such a cute little black cat reminds me of the quiet night with stars hanging in the sky." The lady said softly, and took out three bags of dried fish from the suitcase. "I'll give it some more. It's not worth much anyway."
Night stood on Phil Gray's shoulder and meowed, as if urging him to take it quickly.
"Okay, thank you so much! If you have any problems during your trip, you can always find us over there." Phil Gray thanked him and pointed to his compartment.
"Okay, bye little kitty!" She smiled and waved.
Taking the cat back to the cubicle, Phil Gray looked gloomy. He lifted the night's neck and put it on the table.
"You should be able to understand what we are saying, Heiye. Although we like you very much, you can't be so reckless. If you do it again, we will throw you into the sea when we cross the sea."
Phil Gray threatened "ferociously".
The night jumped onto his shoulders again, but he lifted him down again.
"Do you understand what I said?" Phil Gray asked again.
He somewhat doubted whether the cat could understand their language.
But Heiye meowed several times in a row and rubbed his head against him.
"Okay, I assume you understand." Phil Gray felt helpless, and Eli next to him laughed out loud.
At lunch, Phil Gray asked the person in charge of the train for some fresh fish and put it in the space, intending to use it to feed Dark Night so that it would not steal food from other passengers.
But it was too picky. It wouldn't eat ordinary fish and only ate the dried fish that the lady had just given it.
"What kind of fish is this?" Phil Gray searched the bag carefully and found the name of the fish - Crystal Fish. Its meat is like crystal and it only grows in the clearest and most pure water. It sounds like a rare fish.
Phil Gray regretted agreeing to Ron. If he kept a cat like this, he would go bankrupt!
Three days passed in a flash, the train stopped, and passengers began to get off one after another, taking their cats with them, intending to rush to the next city.
This is a somewhat desolate suburb. They heard that the lord of the city in front was somewhat opposed to the inventions of the Creation God Cult, so Dalie could not stay in the city.
