I am the Pope in the Western Fantasy World

Chapter 7: The God's Favored One

The imagined pain did not come. Phil Gray saw the flash of Wilder's sword and the baby was chopped to the ground.

The swaddling clothes that wrapped him had torn apart, revealing his deformed, squirming body.

Wilder's sword cut off half of his face, but the rest of his body was twisting on the ground, and he was trying to crawl towards Phil Gray.

What kind of monster is this? Phil Gray jumped onto the table in fear, while Lusen Wilder had already started fighting with the woman.

Wrinkles like toad skin appeared on the woman's face, and her hands turned into sharp claws, waving at Wilde.

What the hell is this? Phil Gray remembered that there were escorting knights outside.

He hurriedly shouted, "Help! Someone is trying to assassinate me!"

The knights did come in, more than a dozen of them, but their swords were pointed at themselves.

"What are you doing? I'm the Pope!"

Without having time to think about why the knights turned against him, Phil Gray hurriedly dodged the attack, but he alone was no match for the ten well-trained knights.

Just as he was about to be caught, a black bell appeared out of thin air in Lusen Wilde's other hand, surrounded by eerie mist.

As the bells rang, white hands emerged from the ground, followed by dozens of skeletons emerging from the ground and fighting with the knights.

Phil Gray looked at the scene in front of him in shock. Although he knew that there were gods in this world, he still thought that the human world should be the same as on Earth. He didn't expect that the people here could have such strange abilities?

Lusen Wilde simply abandoned his sword and replaced it with a black staff with spikes on it, and smashed towards the monster woman with a swift move.

The woman had completely turned into a monster, spitting green mucus at Wilder from time to time. Every time Wilder's staff hit her, she would howl like a demon.

Phil Gray's heart was pounding. The tent had been destroyed, but there was no one around. Those who had received their things might have gone home long ago, but there was no sign of Bishop Wendel.

He wanted to leave first, but was afraid that it would be more dangerous after leaving, so he could only pray that Wilder could deal with the monster as soon as possible.

The skeletons were lifeless and fearlessly charged at the knights. The skeletons that were chopped made clanging sounds and even the swords could not leave any marks.

"That's amazing!" exclaimed Phil Gray.

The skeletons quickly dealt with the knight and the squirming baby, and went to help Wild fight the monster woman.

Although the monster woman was scary, she seemed no match for Wilder. With the help of many skeletons, she was quickly defeated.

"Who sent you here?" Lusen Wilder asked in a deep voice.

The woman continued to scream and struggled to pounce on him.

Finally, he was stabbed in the heart by Wilder.

Phil Gray finally breathed a sigh of relief. He walked towards Wilder and watched Wilder ring the bell again, and the skeletons crawled into the ground.

"Thank you, it's a good thing to have you." Phil Gray expressed his sincere gratitude.

"It's just my duty," Wilder replied.

"What kind of monster is this woman?"

"She is a person favored by God. She should be a disease worshiper or a plague maker."

Phil Gray thought about it, and according to the "Vale's Overview of World Religions" he read, disease cults are churches that believe in the god of disease, and plague makers are groups that believe in the god of plague.

But what are those favored by God?

Phil Gray also asked.

Lusn Wilder explained, “The people favored by gods are those who can use certain abilities of gods. The people favored by gods are divided into seven levels according to the degree of favor of gods: listening, praying, paying attention, divine revelation, divine descent, divine way, and quasi-god.

The first three levels still belong to the category of mortals. Listening means that those favored by God can listen to the words of God, blessing means that you can pray to God for your requests, and paying attention means that God's eyes will stay on you.

The next four levels transcend the limitations of mortals. Divine revelation means that the gods will respond to your requests, divine descent means you can invite the gods to descend into your body, and Shinto means you can use the power of faith like gods. Quasi-god means you have the qualifications to become a god and master some of the power of laws.

When you reach the Shinto and Quasi-God levels, there will be no limit to your life span. The woman just now should be at the Blessing Level."

I guess this is the extraordinary system of this world.

Phil Gray's eyes lit up.

"Then how can one become a god-favored one?"

Luseen Wilder glanced at him and said with a smile, "Whether or not one can become a God's Favored One is determined at birth. Your Majesty has indeed forgotten that you are the first Pope of the Destiny Cult since ancient times who is not a God's Favored One. This matter has caused dissatisfaction among many people. It was only because of the previous Pope and the Gray family's strong opposition that you were able to become Pope."

Phil Gray was a little embarrassed and his heart seemed to be broken. He didn't know if he was like the original owner and was not qualified to become a person favored by God.

Wilder continued, "To become a god's favored one, one must be devout enough to the god and pray to the god constantly. When praying, one will have the opportunity to hear the god's motto. If one follows the motto's instructions and completes the corresponding tasks, one will gain a power from the god, and the soul will be strengthened, thus rising to a higher level."

"Every church has many divinely-blessed people, because it is easy to be a priest in the church, but positions above bishop must be held by divinely-blessed people, and cardinals must be divinely-blessed or above."

Phil Gray suddenly thought of the words "Listen to the whispers of fate" that he heard in a half-asleep state a few days ago. Could it be that he was not dreaming, but the words of advice given to him by God?

He was suddenly excited, but he didn't show it. Instead, he asked with a smile, "You are definitely not a person favored by the Destiny Cult, right?"

Although he didn't know much, the ability of the God's Favored One of the Cult of Destiny should not be to summon skeletons.

Lusien Wilder chuckled, "You are really smart. I am from the Church of the Dead, and my deity is Vino, the God of Death. But now is not the time to talk about this. It is more important for us to return to the Church as soon as possible." Then his expression became stern, "It seems someone is coming."

He took Phil Gray with him as a shadow.

Phil Gray exclaimed at how powerful he was, and then he saw that the people coming were Bishop Wendel and Knight Commander Valk Dodd.

He was about to go up and say hello, but suddenly stopped himself because he thought of those rebellious knights.

Turning around, he found that Lusen Wilde was also staring at the two men.

As they got closer, they could hear the two of them talking.

"They are all dead. Your knights can't even catch an ordinary person?" Wendel's voice.

"Didn't you say that the plague makers you hired have never failed? Can't a blessing-level plague maker kill an ordinary person?" The voice of Knight Commander Valk Dodd.

hateful!

Phil Gray gritted his teeth. These two guys actually betrayed him.
