The emperor was sitting opposite Yan Wan, watching her practicing calligraphy. He didn't know whether it was because she had copied too many of his works or if there was a natural affinity between him and Yan Wan, but her handwriting really had some of his charm.

Yan Wan finished writing a chapter. She read "Loudong Fu" the day before yesterday and reviewed it yesterday. Today the emperor was in the mood to test her again, so Yan Wan raised her head, looking very confident.

The emperor also admired Yanwan's positive spirit and coaxed her to show her skills. He asked Yanwan to write it down from memory to see if her handwriting was good.

Yan Wan responded excitedly, "Okay!" She picked up the pen and started writing. Her writing was like a dragon, and although it was still a little awkward, it did have some edge in it. She did not pause and her writing was extremely fluent, and it was obvious that she had read it carefully.

After a while, Yan Wan put down her pen and blinked at the emperor, her eyes sparkling with expectation. The emperor smiled indulgently and gently moved the paper to prevent the ink from drying and smudging it.

Feeling the person opposite him staring at him nervously with his chin propped up, the emperor tensed his face, frowned slightly, and shook his head with a look of regret.

This made Yan Wan nervous. She quickly stood up, moved closer to the emperor, and asked, "Your Majesty, did I write something wrong?"

Yan Wan glanced over it nervously, but didn't think there was anything wrong. The emperor saw that she breathed a sigh of relief, but seemed to be wondering what was wrong with the words, so he smiled.

The emperor smiled so hard that wrinkles appeared at the corners of his eyes. "I see you are so nervous, but you are afraid that I will point out your mistakes."

Yan Wan pulled the emperor's sleeve and shook it gently, "Your Majesty, I am afraid that if I lose face in front of you, you will not like me anymore."

She pretended to be awkward and clutched the emperor's sleeve angrily. Hongli reached out to pull her hand again, but without any effort, the little hand opened automatically and wrapped around the emperor's hand.

When she looked up, Yan Wan looked at him with a smile, her eyes full of joy and love, "Your Majesty has been frightened by me." She looked so cunning, just like a little fox who had stolen a chicken, wagging its tail, happily showing off its abilities to its master.

"Okay." The emperor said softly, raised his eyebrows, and pulled her into his arms. Smelling the fragrant breeze, the emperor deliberately leaned close to Yan Wan's ear and said, "Our Yan Wan writes really well."

Hongli rested his chin on Yanwan's forehead, held her with his hands, and patiently demonstrated to her some of the characters she had written that were not very lifelike.

The two of them were huddled together, being very affectionate.

Outside the Yangxin Palace, Jinzhong walked in quickly and shouted from behind the screen, "Your Majesty, Concubine Xian wants to see you."

The emperor frowned unconsciously, but soon regained his composure, and the elegance on his handsome face suddenly disappeared. He felt a little embarrassed.

Yan Wan knew that for some reason, he was slightly afraid of the disappointed look of his childhood sweetheart. So she spoke first, "Your Majesty, Concubine Xian has not seen you for a long time, and she must miss you very much."

The emperor was distracted, and Yan Wan immediately got out of his arms, bowed to him, and said, "Your Majesty, since Sister Noble Concubine Xian is here, I will take my leave first."

The emperor immediately refused, "Concubine Ling, please stay here and talk to me and Concubine Xian." Then he turned to Jinzhong and said, "Let her in."

Jinzhong responded respectfully, "Yeah."

He was behind the screen, and Yanwan took two steps towards Jinzhong's position, just enough for Jinzhong to see her figure.

Yanwan looked back, and the two of them exchanged glances. Jinzhong then left and asked Concubine Xian to come in.

"Greetings to His Majesty." Jinzhong led Concubine Xian in. Ruyi was accompanied by Rong Pei, who was carrying a food box. She said.

Yanwan put on a delicate and weak look again, and saluted to Concubine Xian weakly, wishing she could say the words "Greetings to Her Majesty Concubine Xian" in a roundabout way.

Jinzhong looked up at Yanwan's smug expression, smiled dotingly and proudly, then turned and walked out.

Li Yu, who came with Concubine Xian, was still standing at the door, staring at Ling Yunche. Jinzhong had to go and see if the two of them would smile as happily as they did on the day Concubine Xian became the queen in the previous life.

Ruyi smiled slightly and nodded to Yanwan. She came here today not for Concubine Ling, but for the Yikun Palace.

Ruyi's lips parted, her tongue making a sound of water separating her upper and lower teeth. She said, "Your Majesty, I brought some jade cakes."

"The jade cake is mixed with mint, which is refreshing and heat-removing. I still remember that the emperor likes to eat this when it is hot." Ruyi smiled generously. Rong Pei beside her was holding the food box. Seeing the emperor nod, she quickly placed the contents on the table.

The emperor picked up one, put it in his mouth, nodded and said, "Not bad."

Ruyi smiled even more happily, turned to look at Yanwan, raised her eyebrows and said, "Concubine Ling, try it too."

After saying that, she picked up one and put it in her mouth.

Yan Wan nodded, raised her orchid finger, picked up a flower with her thumb and index finger, and spread the rest of her fingers wide. She deliberately imitated the shape of Ruyi's hand, and looked at her with squinting eyes to see if she noticed.

Ruyi's expression did not change until Yan Wan put the cake into her mouth. Yan Wan was a little disappointed. It seemed that Concubine Xian did not notice her action. Yan Wan's fingers quickly closed and returned to her original appearance.

Since Rong Pei came in, she has been standing obediently behind Ruyi, but the pressure around her cannot be underestimated.

The emperor noticed Rong Pei and asked, "Ruyi, is this your newly selected maid? I remember never seeing her before."

Ruyi smiled shyly, covering her lips with her tender and plump fingers. Her little finger was like a branch trying to grow, moving as far away from the other fingers as possible. "Your Majesty has a good memory."

Ruyi looked at Rong Pei with a smile, her eyes showing some admiration, and she said, "Since Suo Xin got married, there has been no head maid in Yikun Palace for a long time. A new batch of maids came to Yuanmingyuan. I saw that Rong Pei was bold and organized, so I chose her to be the new head maid of Yikun Palace."

The emperor nodded, looked at Rong Pei and said, "Since Concubine Xian thinks so highly of you, then I am relieved."

"Rong Pei, please don't let Concubine Xian down."

Rong Pei showed gratitude on her face, and quickly knelt in front of several people, saying, "Your Majesty, I will do my best for Concubine Xian, and I will go through fire and water without hesitation."

Ruyi looked at Rong Pei's sincere face and her smile deepened. Then she turned her eyes and looked at the emperor's face with gentle eyes.
