Come to another world and become a lord

Chapter 91 The King's Accident

It didn't take long for news of Samuel's murder to reach the palace, and King Philip was almost speechless after hearing the news. Now another emergency parliament was convened in response to Samuel's murder, and he sat on the throne with an angry face.

What is this? It's endless, isn't it? It's only been a few days. First, Karl and Morton quarreled over the territory, then the prime minister's little daughter quarreled at the ball. It hasn't been long since that happened, and now his own finance minister has been poisoned! You have nothing to do after eating, right? You feel itchy if you don't do something, right? It's simply lawless! The more he thought about it, the angrier he became. He slapped the throne with one hand, and the ministers below trembled in shock.

Soon, the captain who arrested Carl arrived at the hall, knelt on one knee and said:

"Your Majesty, we have captured the murderer Karl and he is now detained outside the palace."

"Bring it up~" Philip suppressed his emotions again and replied calmly.

Soon, Carl, with his hands tied behind his back, was brought up by two palace guards. Carl's face was covered in blood, and his nose seemed to be broken. His left eye was hit again and was now swollen, making it almost difficult to open his eye. Despite these injuries, he was very conscious, and he shouted as soon as he entered the door:

"Your Majesty, I am innocent. I bid farewell to Lord Samuel, but I was almost poisoned to death!"

Just as Karl shouted, he saw the captain of the guards walking up to him in two steps:

"How dare a mere criminal come before His Majesty and speak nonsense!"

As he was about to strike, he heard Philip on the throne suddenly shout:

"You are presumptuous!"

After hearing Philip's words, the captain of the guards quickly withdrew his hands and knelt down again. But he heard Philip shout again:

"What do you want to do? I'm still sitting here, are you going to rebel?"

This sentence shocked the captain so much that he fell to his knees and even kowtowed:

"Your Majesty, please forgive me. I deserve death. Your Majesty, please forgive me~"

Philip snorted unhappily, looked at Karl again, frowned slightly after seeing the blood on his face, and said:

"You go on."

Carl tried hard to organize his thoughts. After calming down a little, he said:

"Your Majesty, it was their servants who brought the wine, and it was Samuel himself who poured the wine. I never touched his glass from beginning to end!"

"Hmm~" Philip nodded and looked at the captain again, "How did you deal with the servants in Samuel's family, especially the waiter who delivered the wine."

"I sent someone there to inquire about the situation." The team leader said, wiping his sweat.

Philip nodded again, and then said:

"Oh~ You let the more suspicious person go, and you arrested the less suspicious person first!"

"Your Majesty, please forgive me. Your Majesty, please forgive me~"

Then Philip waved to a servant beside him and said:

"You must immediately dispatch a team to Samuel's government office and arrest all of them. No one is allowed to escape~"

"Yes~" The guard saluted and then ran out of the hall quickly.

Philip sighed, then turned to Karl and said:

"Go on."

"Your Majesty, as soon as Lord Samuel fell to the ground due to the poisoning, this captain rushed in and pinned me down."

Carl did not say anything more after this. From the beginning till now, he had only stated the facts objectively without making any unnecessary speculations. He also tried to make things as simple and clear as possible, leaving the rest to the king to judge for himself.

Philip glanced at Karl, then turned to look at the team leader and suddenly asked:

"Yeah, how did you manage to rush in so quickly?"

"Your Majesty, I just happened to be patrolling here and heard someone shouting murder in the house, so I rushed in anxiously with my men..." the team leader replied.

"Oh, patrol there?" Philip nodded thoughtfully and asked, "You are a palace guard, right?"

Seeing the other party nod, he continued:

"The Samuels aren't in the palace. What kind of patrol is this?"

After these words were spoken, the captain's face began to sweat even more, and some sweat even dripped onto the ground.

Then, before he could answer, Philip roared:

"Tell me! Who sent you there?"

After these words came out, the captain was so scared that he almost fell to the ground. Carl felt relieved at this time. He could see that His Majesty the King was on his side. He knew very well that Philip might be cowardly, but he was definitely not a fool. Such an obvious thing would naturally not fool him. He should be safe now, but the problem was that the person who hurt him was most likely Morton, but how could he find evidence? In addition, how he mobilized the palace guards was also a mystery.

He looked at the captain, who was almost crying. He continued in an unclear voice:

"Your Majesty, Your Majesty~ I, I have some important matters that I need to... report to you in private..."

Philip snorted contemptuously:

"What tricks are you going to play? Tell the truth and you can make amends!"

"Your Majesty... I... really have something important to tell you... I need to report it privately..."

"I said you..." Philip wanted to continue to scold him, but suddenly he seemed to think of something, his eyes turned, and he changed his words:

"Okay~"

Then he said to the guards in the palace:

"Someone, take off his armor."

Two guards came forward and first removed his standard palace armor, then took off the cotton armor underneath, and finally left him with only a thin white shirt.

Seeing this, Philip nodded, and then said to the Minister of Military Affairs Rhodes who was standing below: "You come too, bring a weapon."

Then, at the king's signal, a guard took off the sword from his waist and handed it to Rhodes. Rhodes nodded, took the sword, then stepped forward to capture the team leader, and the three of them walked into the back of the hall.

It was here again, where he discussed the dispute between Morton and Carl with Samuel; and it was here again this time, in order to find out the cause of Samuel's death.

The moment he walked into the back hall, Rhodes had already drawn his sword and put it on the captain's neck. He would not be polite if the other party showed any abnormality.

"Tell me, what's the matter?" Philip asked in a calm tone.

"Your Majesty, it was the Fourth Prince who sent me to wait near Lord Samuel's house~"

"What did you say!" Philip almost widened his eyes at this moment.

But I heard the captain continue:

"The Fourth Prince asked us to wait at the door and rush in as soon as we hear any movement. Our main target is Viscount Karl. If he is not dead, we will arrest him. If he is dead..."

Before he finished speaking, Philip waved his hand, signaling him not to continue. Then the king sighed deeply and paced back and forth with a melancholy face. After an unknown amount of time, he raised his head and asked again:

"Who else knows about this?"

"I'm the only one who knows." The captain nodded and said, "The Fourth Prince gave me this order alone. No one in my team knows about it."

"Okay~" Philip nodded again, "What's your name?"

"Your Majesty, my name is Youen." The captain replied.

"Well, listen carefully, Youen, if you dare to reveal even a word of what you just told me, I will kill your whole family, do you understand?"

"Your Majesty, I promise I will never leak it!"

Carl knelt quietly outside the palace. A long time had passed, but King Philip still did not come out. He felt a little uneasy at this moment. The captain must have some backup plan, but he could not figure out what it was.

Just when he was feeling uneasy, he saw Philip, Rhodes, and the team leader named Eun coming out again. Eun had an obvious smile on his face, which made Carl even more uneasy.

Sure enough, when Philip sat down, he immediately spoke:

"This matter is still unclear. First, take Viscount Karl to the dungeon."

Carl's eyes widened. He couldn't understand why the king suddenly changed his mind, and couldn't understand why such an obvious frame-up could succeed. He looked at Captain Youn and saw him showing a mocking smile, with a look of a villain who had succeeded. However, before he finished laughing, he heard Philip say:

"Captain of the palace guards, Youen, neglected his duty, led his team away from their posts, and defied the king in the palace. I will strip him of his captaincy, drag him away, and behead him!"

Youen was stunned, the smile on his face froze, and then he screamed in horror:

"Your Majesty, Your Majesty! Your Majesty!"

He wanted to shout out the truth, but Philip's words flashed through his mind again: "Kill your whole family." Finally, he shut his mouth.

Just like that, Carl and the other two were dragged out of the hall at the same time.
