Chapter 998 This Daqin Monk is Different
Guanyin originally did not intend to appear, but who could have thought that Xuanzang was so incompetent. He had already started practicing, but he still fell down while climbing a mountain?
After hammering his aching waist, Xuanzang looked sad.
"I'm sorry to make the Bodhisattva laugh at me. I'm incompetent. It seems I can't save this monkey today.
Alas, never mind, we are not destined to be together, so I'd better ride on my donkey and go!"
Seeing Xuanzang was about to lead the donkey, Sun Wukong, who was still trapped under the Five Finger Mountain, hurriedly shouted:
"Master, please don't leave. I can't live without you!"
Guanyin's face turned dark. At this time, she had already somewhat understood Xuanzang's character and expression.
He probably thought climbing the mountain was dangerous and wanted to seek help from this Bodhisattva, but was too embarrassed to say it out loud, so he resorted to this tactic of playing hard to get.
"Xuanzang, wait a minute. The journey to the west is too dangerous. This Sun Wukong is your guardian. Without his protection, there will be many monsters on the way and you may not be able to reach the west."
Xuanzang pointed to the mountain and said hesitantly:
“But this mountain…”
The Bodhisattva closed his eyes and waved his fingers lightly, and suddenly Xuanzang appeared on the top of the mountain, with the seal left by the Buddha next to him.
After tearing off the sealing talisman, looking at this thing, it was left by the Buddha after all. Although I don’t know how long its power can be maintained, it is still a treasure so I simply put it in my arms.
Then, with a few running steps, Xuanzang jumped down from the top of the mountain.
"Buddha, catch me!"
The Guanyin on the ground had a slight trembling mouth, and she wished she could slap the boy to death.
However, the pilgrim cannot fall to his death so easily, otherwise the prosperity of Buddhism will be ruined.
Another breeze blew, and Xuanzang's body landed steadily on the ground.
"Thank you Bodhisattva!"
Sun Wukong felt that the restraint on his back was gone. From that moment on, the Five Finger Mountain without the runes was just an ordinary mountain.
"Haha, I, Old Sun, am about to come out!"
There was a violent earthquake, and the entire Five Finger Mountain collapsed in an instant, and the once powerful Monkey King Sun Wukong jumped out from it.
But Xuanzang was about to curse. He had not run far yet. Even if no stone bounced towards him, the dust it raised was enough to cause a lot of trouble.
The little donkey had obviously never seen such a big scene before, and the hair on its body stood up in fear.
Guanyin's magical power surged, and a faint barrier blocked the ricocheting stones and smoke.
When Sun Wukong first came out, he was still a little disheveled, with a lot of weeds tangled all over his body. He hadn’t taken a bath for 500 years, and he was full of foul smell.
The excited monkey ran directly to Guanyin's feet, hugged her thighs and burst into tears.
"Thank you, Bodhisattva. I will definitely remember your great kindness!"
Guanyin looked at her white long sleeves that were soiled by the monkey, and couldn't help but use a cleaning spell to make both her clothes and the monkey clean.
With the guidance of the Bodhisattva, Xuanzang and Sun Wukong became much more familiar with the world.
Unfortunately, before the Bodhisattva left, he did not leave any magic weapon such as a tight hoop for Xuanzang.
After walking for more than ten miles, we soon found a house.
Sun Wukong sensed a familiar aura and said with a smile, "It seems that I have met an acquaintance. Master, why don't we stay there tonight?"
Xuanzang nodded. The only problems he might encounter later would be a few petty thieves and robbers, which were nothing serious. Sun Wukong could easily kill them anyway.
As for whether to scold the monkey later, that depends on the situation!
Soon, the master and disciple arrived at a farmer's house.
A little shepherd boy and a white-haired old man came out to greet them.
Xuanzang smiled and bowed, "Old man, we are monks who came from the Great Qin in the East and went to the West to worship Buddha and seek scriptures. I wonder if you have any vacant rooms here, can we stay for one night?"
The old man was also quite kind and entertained the two of them directly. Even the donkey was given hay prepared by the little shepherd boy.
Sun Wukong jumped up and came to the old man in a flash, and asked with a smile:
"Old man, I haven't seen you for so many years. I wonder if you still recognize me, Old Sun?"
The old man was also scratching his head, and finally he found the monkey that was pressed under the mountain from his childhood memories.
"So it's you, the divine monkey. I haven't seen you for so many years. I thought you were dead!"
Sun Wukong said disdainfully: "I am a spirit monkey born and raised by heaven and earth, and I have practiced the art of immortality. How can I die so easily?"
When it was dinner time, the old man brought out a few plates of vegetarian dishes, which Monkey King ate with gusto.
After all, during those years of being pressed under the mountain, monkeys could only drink copper and iron water every day, which was simply not the life they should live.
On the contrary, Xuanzang found it difficult to swallow after taking a few bites.
These dishes are probably wild vegetables picked by the old man in the mountains, and the taste is not that good.
The plate of eggs among them was quite good, probably from the old hens in the yard.
The old man seemed to see that Xuanzang disliked the food, and could not help asking: "Master, you may not be used to eating our wild vegetables in the mountains. I have some millet and grains at home. I will cook a pot of porridge later. I hope you don't mind. After all, the situation at home is..."
Xuanzang nodded to show that he understood, and then took out a silver coin the size of his little finger from his pocket.
"Old man, I've been traveling a lot lately, and I want to have some meat and vegetables to satisfy my hunger. The chickens and ducks in your yard are great. I wonder if this little money is enough?"
Looking at the silver on the table, the old man asked hesitantly:
"Master, don't Buddhists always insist on eating vegetarian food? You are..."
Xuanzang bowed and said sincerely:
"Amitabha, I am traveling to the West to bring back the true scriptures and save all living beings.
The task is too arduous. If my health collapses, I will be failing the expectations of the Qin Empire and the people of the world.
Wine and meat pass through the intestines, but remain in the Buddha's heart. Everything is for the purpose of spreading the Dharma. I believe that even if the Buddha knew, he would understand me!"
Sun Wukong also looked at Xuanzang in surprise, and sighed in his heart that this monk Xuanzang from the Qin Dynasty was really strange, completely different from other old-fashioned Buddhist monks.
The old man finally sighed and went to the yard to kill a chicken and a duck. Since the monk had given him money, he couldn't just refuse.
Half an hour later, the cooked chicken and duck were served on the table, and the old man carefully added some coarse salt as seasoning.
Sun Wukong smelled the meaty aroma in the air and felt that the wild vegetables he had just eaten were simply hard to swallow.
Xuanzang smiled, grabbed the roasted chicken and threw it directly to Sun Wukong.
"Wukong, I have to thank you for keeping me safe on the journey to the West. Eat something to replenish your energy. You have suffered a lot in the past 500 years."
After getting the consent, Sun Wukong finally started to catch the big fish.
The reason why he was so concerned about Xuanzang's attitude was not because Monkey King was afraid of a mortal.
To be honest, protecting a monk on his journey to the West to obtain Buddhist scriptures, even if the journey is a bit far, will only take a few decades at most.
If Guanyin had not stopped him before, he would have wanted to use his somersault cloud to pull Xuanzang directly and complete the task as soon as possible.
When it was late at night, Xuanzang was sitting cross-legged on the bed, with wisps of golden light floating outside his body.
The Buddhist method of physical cultivation bestowed by Guanyin, although not particularly advanced, can be cultivated to the level of a celestial being.
Sun Wukong could also see that Xuanzang was practicing, and a golden light flashed in his eyes. He found that although this monk was already quite old, his practice was very smooth. Could he be an amazing genius?
At this moment, there was new movement outside.
