The clock on the bedside was ticking, and every tick seemed to remind him that time was running out. He rubbed his temples, trying to wake himself up.

"Lanhua, I'm going to visit an old friend." He said to his wife Liu Lanhua who was still busy in the kitchen. Liu Lanhua turned around with concern in her eyes: "Rufeng, you hardly slept last night, why don't you take a rest first."

Chen Rufeng shook his head and forced a smile: "It's okay, Sha Zhu's matter can't be delayed, I have to find someone to help as soon as possible." He knew that time waits for no one, and the longer Sha Zhu stays in the cell, the more dangerous it will be. He dare not neglect it.

Walking through the courtyard, Chen Rufeng saw the neighbors in the yard gathered in groups of three or four to chat. When they saw him coming, they all stopped talking and cast complicated glances at him. Chen Rufeng smiled bitterly in his heart, knowing that they all had different opinions on Sha Zhu's affairs, but he had no time to care and could only continue walking forward.

Arriving at his old friend's door, Chen Rufeng took a deep breath and knocked on the door. The door opened quickly and his old friend Zhang Dashan was standing at the door. When he saw Chen Rufeng, a smile appeared on his face: "Rufeng, long time no see, come in and sit down."

Chen Rufeng nodded gratefully and walked into Zhang Dashan's room. After a few pleasantries, Chen Rufeng told him the whole story. Zhang Dashan frowned and said, "This is indeed troublesome, but I will do my best to help you."

Chen Rufeng felt a little relieved after hearing his old friend's words. He knew that Zhang Dashan had extensive experience in law, and if he was willing to help, things might turn around.

"I will find a few lawyer friends to study the case together," Zhang Dashan said, "But, Rufeng, you should also be mentally prepared. This kind of thing is not easy to resolve."

"I understand," Chen Rufeng nodded, "No matter how difficult it is, I will stick to it to the end."

After bidding farewell to Zhang Dashan, Chen Rufeng set out on his way home. Along the way, he was still in a heavy mood, but he was unwilling to give up a glimmer of hope. In the courtyard, the door of Sha Zhu's house was closed, as if the noise of those days had never existed. Chen Rufeng stood in the middle of the courtyard, watching all this, with mixed feelings in his heart.

When the neighbors saw him coming back, they gathered around him. Qin Huairu asked with concern: "Rufeng, is there any progress?"

"We're still working on it," Chen Rufeng nodded. "Dashan said he would help. I believe there will be good news."

Everyone was discussing the issue, some appreciated Chen Rufeng's persistence, others questioned Sha Zhu's behavior. Chen Rufeng understood that this was a time when calmness was needed, so he listened patiently and tried to calm everyone's emotions.

As the days passed, Chen Rufeng and Zhang Dashan frequently contacted each other, looking for various evidences and witnesses. Every night when it was quiet, Chen Rufeng sat alone at the table, praying silently in his heart. The shadow of Sha Zhu always appeared in his mind. That simple smile and that stupid behavior made him more determined to help Sha Zhu out of trouble.

Finally, one morning, Chen Rufeng received a call from Zhang Dashan: "Rufeng, there is good news. We have found a key witness who can prove that Sha Zhu did mistakenly think that the wall was scrapped."

Chen Rufeng was so excited that he almost jumped up: "That's great, Dashan, thank you! We will definitely get Shazhu off the hook!"

After hanging up the phone, Chen Rufeng felt extremely relaxed. He walked out of the house, the sun shone in the courtyard, and everything seemed to become brighter. Seeing his smile, the neighbors came forward to ask for news. Chen Rufeng briefly explained the situation, and everyone's mood became relaxed.

In the following days, Chen Rufeng and Zhang Dashan prepared detailed evidence and witness testimonies. Finally, the court heard the case. Sha Zhu still looked a little stupid in court, but his sincerity and the witness testimony convinced the judge that it was indeed a misunderstanding.

The trial ended and Sha Zhu was declared not guilty and released. Chen Rufeng's eyes moistened when he heard the news. He knew that all his efforts had finally paid off.

The day Sha Zhu was released, the courtyard was bustling with activity, as everyone came to celebrate the good news. Sha Zhu smiled naively and thanked everyone one by one, especially Chen Rufeng: "Brother Rufeng, if it weren't for you, I might not have been able to get out."

Chen Rufeng patted his shoulder and said with a smile: "Shazhu, you have to learn your lesson this time and think more about what you do next time."

"I will definitely remember it," Sha Zhu nodded, his eyes full of gratitude.

As night fell, the courtyard was peaceful. Chen Rufeng stood in the courtyard, looking at everyone's smiling faces, the cracks on the ceiling, the mottled paint on the wall, and the old bed, which made him feel a little dazed for a moment.

"Rufeng, you're awake." His wife Liu Lanhua's voice interrupted his thoughts. She sat beside the bed, her eyes full of worry and fatigue.

"Lanhua, what's wrong with me?" Chen Rufeng tried hard to recall, but found his mind was blank.

"You were busy dealing with Sha Zhu's matter a few days ago. You overworked and didn't get enough rest. You suddenly fainted last night." Liu Lanhua explained, holding his hand. "The doctor said you need to rest well."

Chen Rufeng smiled bitterly, feeling somewhat guilty. He had neglected his health because of Sha Zhu's matter. Now that Sha Zhu was acquitted, his health had collapsed.

"Brother Rufeng, you must take good care of your health." A familiar voice came. Chen Rufeng turned around and saw Sha Zhu standing at the door, his face full of guilt.

"Shazhu, why are you here?" Chen Rufeng was a little surprised.

"I heard you were sick, so I came to see you." Sha Zhu walked to the bedside and whispered, "Brother Rufeng, I'm the one who got you into trouble this time. If it weren't for you, I might still be in the cell."

Chen Rufeng shook his head and forced a smile, "Silly Zhu, don't say that. You are our friend, this is not your fault."

"Brother Rufeng, I will listen to you in the future and think more before doing anything." Sha Zhu said solemnly, with a determined light flashing in his eyes.

"Okay, okay." Chen Rufeng nodded, feeling somewhat relieved. He knew that although Sha Zhu was honest, he might change after this lesson.

A few days later, Chen Rufeng was finally discharged from the hospital and returned home. Neighbors in the courtyard came to visit him and gave him various gifts. Chen Rufeng felt warm in his heart, and the friendship between neighbors made him feel the warmth of home again.

"Rufeng, have a good rest, we will help keep an eye on you." Qin Huairu said with a smile, holding a bowl of hot chicken soup in her hand.

"Thank you." Chen Rufeng said gratefully, "I will take good care of my health and won't worry you anymore."
