Fragrant willow catkins

Chapter 9 Parents’ Meeting

At noon, at the dining table in the front hall, Old Master Mo was still in seclusion. The first and second masters sat in the middle, and the two wives sat beside them. The second wife was wearing a bright yellow dress and was taking care of the young master Mo Tang while he ate. Only Mo Xi was in the house, and the other young masters and young ladies were not in the house, but Mo Xi sat a little far away from the second wife, as if she was very afraid of her mother.

Seeing so many people coming, Mo Tang sat quietly in his chair without saying a word, but fortunately they were all family members, so he was not too restrained. The Second Lady put some food in his bowl, but he didn't seem to like it very much.

Second Madam: "Tang'er, take a look at the table to see if there is anything you like to eat? Mother will help you pick it up."

Mo Tang listened to the Second Madam's words and looked up at the dishes on the table. Soon, he saw something he was interested in. He pulled the Second Madam's sleeve and said, "Mother, that."

The Second Lady followed his gaze and saw a plate of golden pastries shaped like flowers, which looked like crispy pastries.

Mo Tang picked up the yellow flower with chopsticks, took a bite, and his mood obviously improved.

"Is it delicious?" the second wife asked him.

Mo Tang nodded, "It's delicious."

Hearing this, the elders also became interested. Mo Tang used to be a bit indecisive at the dinner table. Usually, there was no dish that interested him, so he would eat whatever the Second Madam picked. Now that they praised this pastry for being delicious, they also wanted to try it.

I tried it and it was really delicious.

The second wife looked at the servant at the door and asked, "Which chef made this cake today?"

"Replying to the Second Madam, this is the new maid in the kitchen."

The master was also very satisfied after hearing this. Seeing that everyone liked the dishes made by this maid, he ordered, "Let her be responsible for a few more dishes in the future. The taste is pretty good."

"Yes."

Hearing that there would be such delicious dishes in the future, Mo Tang felt even better. The Second Madam, who was sitting next to him, naturally noticed his change in mood and secretly took note of this little maid.

When everyone in the kitchen heard the words coming back from the front hall, they were all happy for Ningxu. After all, there was a difference in the monthly salary between an apprentice who cuts vegetables and a chef who cooks.

The days in the mansion passed in a flash. As the head chef, Ningxu's daily work became much easier. She no longer had to wash dishes every day and only had to be responsible for preparing the dishes.

In the afternoon, sitting on a lounge chair in the kitchen yard to bask in the sun, she finally had some free time and began to think about whether to stay or leave.

In simple terms, she didn't have many relatives in modern times, but she had many enemies. She didn't want to take back the Dong family's property. After all, she wasn't a legitimate eldest daughter, so even if she went back, she wouldn't be able to achieve anything in the city because of the second brother's trouble.

But it was different here. People were kind to each other. She must have come here with a mission. Although she didn't know what the mission was yet, it was very likely that she could return to the modern world after completing it. If only she could save more money in the Tianle Dynasty and bring Mo Sheng back to the modern world. Ningxu felt that without her, Mo Sheng would starve to death sooner or later.

While thinking, Ningxu felt that the sunlight above her head was blocked by something. She opened her eyes and found that it was the housekeeper aunt. "Aunt, what's wrong?" Ningxu sat up straight and looked up at the housekeeper aunt.

The steward smiled, a little embarrassed, "Well, Rumeng, I'll give you a day off tomorrow, why don't you help me with something?"

Ningxu: "Okay, what for?"

"My youngest son's grades will be announced tomorrow, and the school teacher asked an elder to go. His father and I are not available, you see..."

"The parents' meeting?"

"What is a parents' meeting?" The manager frowned, having never heard of this name.

"After the children take the exam and their scores are released, the teacher calls all the parents together and announces the scores of each child, praising those who do well and criticizing those who do not."

"Right, right, right! Your description is great. It's a parents' meeting! Go and help me open one. It's in the 11th class on West Street, and the name of the class is Linmu."

"No problem!" It's a free vacation, don't miss it.

On the second day, Ningxu stood at the gate of Prince Mo's mansion in a refreshed mood, stretched lazily, and chatted with the security guard. Walking on West Street, Ningxu had not been here much, but from time to time on the street, you can see children holding their parents' hands and walking in one direction. Ningxu followed them and soon found the school.

There was a young boy standing at the school gate, it should be Lin Mu. Ning Xu walked towards him with a smile. The child looked at a big sister walking towards him and turned his head away a little embarrassedly.

Ningxu: "Kid, your name is Lin Mu?"

The child lowered his head and looked up at Ningxu, still a little afraid of her, "Yes."

"Come on, take me to your classroom." Ning Xu looked at his behavior and felt very familiar with it. She had the aura of a gangster lady. In the past, every time she went out in modern times, the children would hide from her when they saw her.

Lin Mu followed Ning Xu and showed her the way. Each grade in their school was easy to identify. The classrooms were named according to age. Children of different ages went to different classrooms, and the knowledge learned by children of different ages was different. Of course, there were also students who failed the exam and had to repeat the grade. In that case, they had to learn knowledge with children younger than themselves, which was quite discouraging for strong-willed children.

Ningxu and Linmu were stopped when they arrived at the classroom door. The teacher saw that Ningxu was too young and thought that Linmu was called from another school to help.

Ningxu: "Master, I am Lin Mu's distant cousin. His parents have too much work to do and can't leave, so they appointed me here. Don't worry, I will tell his parents everything you say later."

Ningxu looked righteous, so the teacher relaxed his guard and let them in. The parents' meeting started on time, and the teacher wrote down the names of the parents who didn't come. Ningxu looked at the children sitting alone in their seats, and the loneliness and disappointment on their faces were real.

Ning Xu looked at Lin Mu beside her. This boy is considered lucky. If his parents don’t have time to come, he can find a substitute.

This parent-teacher meeting was long and boring. Ningxu saw that several parents were obviously exhausted and had begun to doze off. As a high school student, Ningxu could sit there for a whole morning without any problem. She was very patient. It was only at this point that Ningxu suddenly realized why the housekeeper asked her to come instead of her. Did the aunt think that this parent-teacher meeting was too boring?

After the parents' meeting, Ningxu walked out of the door with a few yawning parents. Lin Mu followed her obediently, "What do you mean? I'll take you home? Or do you want to go somewhere and I'll accompany you?"

There were no classes in the afternoon after the meeting, and Ningxu was worried about leaving him wandering around alone.

Lin Mu's little head turned around, "Can we really go out and play?"

Ningxu: "Tell me where you're going first. We can't go too far."

Lin Mu: "Not far, just behind the school, it's fun!"
