Chapter 6 Admiral Hedrum

Seeing the pirates retreat, Colin jumped up happily and talked happy words to the sailors and slaves around him.

"Colin, Colin" Hearing John's call, Colin turned his head and saw that John had been shot in the chest and was lying on the deck at an angle. He hurried over.

"John, how are you? I'll go find the ship's doctor for you." Colin asked.

"Don't, don't be so busy, I'm almost dying, just listen to me."

"Whatever you say, I'll cure you, anything is fine." Colin turned around and wanted to find the ship's doctor.

John grabbed Colin's arm and Colin was unable to move.

"Hey, John, his hands are so strong? He can still hold me when this fails? Am I so weak?" Colin thought.

John's next few words interrupted Colin's wandering thoughts.

"You look a lot like my brother Peter. He has thick tawny hair like you. I've been away from home for three years now. I think he should be as tall as you now. My hometown is in Rock Village, Happy Town, about 5000 kilometers east of Auckland Port. If there's a chance in the future, please go back and take a look for me. If not, forget it. This book will be my reward."

John's story is also very old-fashioned. He got a book on knight's breathing method by chance, and after several years of hard practice, he became a low-level knight squire. He originally wanted to be promoted to a mid-level knight squire and then find a job to support his family. Unfortunately, his family was penniless. In order to become a low-level knight squire, he had spent all his family's savings. Faced with his young brother, he had to join a mercenary organization. He has not been home for nearly three years, and in the most recent battle he became a prisoner.

John usually behaved very ordinary on the ship, not showing off his true strength at all, but rather a bit dull. He was able to speak a few words only because of his partnership with Colin. If it weren't for this encounter with pirates, his hidden strength would not have been discovered. According to him, he had originally thought of finding a chance to escape, but now he didn't have to think about anything, and was completely disappointed.

After taking a few deep breaths and telling about his final arrangements, John tilted his head and died.

Colin didn't even look at it carefully, he just put the book in his arms.

Colin thought, "What a huge reward, 5000 kilometers? In my previous life, without transportation, it would take several years to travel this distance. It took Tang Monk more than ten years to travel from Chang'an to India. Besides, there were many books in my previous life, and it didn't cost much money, not to mention that there are countless free novels on a certain Tomato Novel APP. I can't even read them all. How much can this crappy book with only a few pages be worth? But then again, John seems to be having an effect. What is this knight he is talking about? Is it the lowest rank of Western nobility in the previous life? Or does it represent some kind of assessment of military strength?"

"Young man, what's your name?" Barto asked as he walked over from a distance.

"Colin."

"Good performance. Here, this is a reward for you," said Barto.

Taking the 50 Themisces from Barto, Colin asked Barto, "Captain, John fought for the fleet and now he is dead. Can his reward be sent back to his hometown?"

"Is he dead? Is he completely dead?" asked Barto.

"...dead." Colin replied dully.

"Then it's all right, Bob. Take care of the body. It has served the ship well, and it will soon be time for Emerald to claim it. Find a place to bury it when you're done."

"Captain, John has a younger brother..."

Before Colin could say anything more, Barto interrupted him and said, "Young man, people should recognize their own identity. It is enough for you to take what you deserve. When people are alive, there are other things. When people are gone, there is nothing." After that, Barto turned around and left without caring about Colin.

"People are alive, people are alive..."

As he muttered to himself, Colin realized that this was not the 21st century, but a foreign world. Traveling through time was not about experiencing life, but about learning bloody lessons. The companions around him were not NPCs, but real people.

At this moment, Colin felt as if something had merged into his body, and he felt as if he felt a lot lighter. (The plane imprint was successful, and Colin's identity as a native of the plane was accepted again.)

……

"Admiral, please come this way." Barto warmly invited Commander Hedram Bergs to walk into the captain's room and signaled Bob with his eyes.

Bob understood and went downstairs to prepare.

While talking with Hedram Bergs, Barto was thinking about Hedram's basic situation. "This admiral, he should have a title, lord or baron? It seems that he doesn't have a good relationship with the other admirals of Auckland Port. But he came to the rescue this time, so I have to thank him. Besides, we will have exchanges in the future. Thinking of this, I blamed Bob for his efforts. It's just a box, but he couldn't find it for a long time? Why hasn't he come yet?"

Just as he was thinking about it, Bob pushed the door open, put down the box, and stood behind Barto.

"Admiral, this is just a small gift, not a token of respect. Please accept it." As he said that, Barto pushed the box towards Hedram.

Hedram hesitated for a moment, took it, and handed it to the guard beside him. He knew in his heart that "this is the way the world is. If he doesn't want it, others will. His family has land to give out, so they don't have to worry about food and drink, but his brothers don't have it. It's not easy to go on a business trip, so he has to share it with his brothers. After all, they all have to make a living."

Seeing Hedram take the box, Barto's grin widened and he said with a smile on his face, "I have a group of women here. If you are interested, you can take a few of them away."

"Ok?"

Hedram thought, "I've heard that Barto is a slave trader who eats everything and doesn't care about human life. I shouldn't have come to save him. I think the city council should change the law and ban the slave trade. But it's my duty to fight pirates. Forget it. I'll just do it to my own conscience."

Thinking of this, Hedram didn't want to stay any longer. Anyway, the crisis had been resolved and it was time to return to the Port of Auckland.

"No need, my beloved wife at home is waiting for me." After saying that, Hedram stood up and walked out.

"Hey, Admiral, please stay..."

"If I had known he didn't have this hobby, why would I have bothered with this? Women can sell for a lot of Themisces, so why am I doing this? Am I hitting the horse's hoof?" Barto thought as he chased.

As he spoke, Hedram had already walked towards the boat. After a short while, the naval fleet had raised the mainsail and headed towards Auckland Port.

Looking at the silhouette of the navy fleet, Barto shook his head and said, "I don't understand. There are still such people in the world?"

"Ship's doctor, see how many people can be rescued. Don't worry about those who can't be rescued. Bob, arrange for someone to repair the main mast and other damaged parts. We will rest for a night and set sail tomorrow." After saying that, Barto turned around and went back to the captain's room.
