Hogwarts: The Savior's Strong Cousin
Chapter 44: Save where you should, spend where you should, invest in your future daughter-in-law, it
"Dumbledore already knows you're here - he's a man who can hide anything."
Mrs. Weasley held several letters, all of which were yellow parchment envelopes with green words on them. The contents were very simple, nothing more than September 1st, still leaving from King's Cross Station, and the letter also listed the study books they would use in the new school year.
Except for one book, "The Standard Book of Spells, Level 2", all the other seven books were written by Gilderoy Lockhart. Dudley curled his lips, as soon as he saw the name, he thought of the extremely coquettish blond man on the cover. There was nothing wrong with showing this to young girls and wives, but as a person who considered himself to be sexually normal, unless he was being funny and humorous, this kind of coquettish man might be disliked by all the male students at Hogwarts.
Fred leaned over and glanced at the list of books in Dudley's hand.
"You want to buy his book too? Damn it, the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher must be an admirer of his - maybe a witch."
Dudley burst out laughing. Guess what? There are no admirers at all. It’s just me!
To be honest, until he actually attended a school year at Hogwarts, Dudley could not quite understand why Dumbledore used this precious year to teach a vivid educational lesson on "you can't judge a person by his face, but by his heart". Moreover, the Defense Against the Dark Arts class was the only means for students to improve their self-protection ability in the increasingly dangerous wizarding world.
Looking back on Harry's school years, it seemed that only Professor Lupin and Barty Jr. pretending to be Mad-Eye gave them a few real Defense Against the Dark Arts lessons. Five sevenths of the time were spent in long-lasting wrangling, defection, and procrastination.
But now that Dumbledore has made his decision, who dares to contradict him?
Poor Severus, he was once again stuck outside the position he had always dreamed of.
Dudley could almost imagine Professor Snape's expression: gloomy face, twisting his fingers, and dryly throwing a "God of War" at the innocent bottles and jars.
There’s no way I could go to this class!
Mrs. Weasley glared at Fred, who quickly ducked his head.
"This guy... I mean, Mr. Lockhart's books aren't cheap at all."
George interjected and Mrs. Weasley sighed.
"There will be a way. I think a lot of Ginny's things can be sold second-hand."
Now, everyone was sitting at the dining table. Ginny was sitting opposite Harry, secretly glancing at him from time to time. It was strange that since Harry came home, the little girl seemed to have some disease. Whenever she saw Harry enter the house, she would knock something over. Now, the poor wooden plate fell to the ground, along with the orange marmalade on it.
Ginny bent down to pick up the plate, and when she came out her face was as red as a ripe apple.
"Oh, you're going to Hogwarts this year too?"
Harry asked, he also felt a little embarrassed. Ginny nodded silently, as if the roots of her fiery red hair were piercing her face.
The two looked at each other shyly, and it finally ended with Dudley burping.
Mrs. Weasley went to clear the dishes, while the young people walked out of the Burrow, touching their round bellies, towards the sunset.
"I don't know where mom and dad got so much money to buy us school supplies this year."
"Five sets of Lockhart's books! Ginny also needs robes and a staff and something..."
George complained.
Harry and Dudley looked at each other. Just now at the table, Ron also received a reply from Hermione. The content was also very simple, just routine instructions, and that she would go to Diagon Alley next Wednesday. The Weasleys also happened to have things to buy, so they agreed on a time to meet there.
The expenses of running such a large family can naturally be imagined. Fortunately, the eldest son Bill and the second son Charlie have graduated and started working. Otherwise, with Arthur Weasley's income alone, Ron would probably have to work as a child laborer at such a young age to make ends meet.
"Ron is your brother, and Ginny is your sister. It's not too much to buy something for your sister, right?"
Dudley poked Harry's back quietly. Harry was stunned for a moment, then he remembered that he had so many piles of gold Galleons in Gringotts.
"Of course, cousin, but how should I tell them?"
Looking at the confused Harry, Dudley sighed. He forgot that Harry was not yet an adult, not even fifteen years old.
"When they go shopping, you pay for it in advance. If they ask, just say it's to thank you for last year's Christmas gift and say something polite."
"If you are generous only when you pay the bill, people will think you are pitying them and giving alms to beggars, Harry. Everyone has self-respect."
"If the Weasleys give you any reward in the future, just accept it. Don't think about returning the favor."
They chattered a lot until Ron and the others flew far away on their brooms and looked back at the two of them in confusion. Dudley patted Harry on the shoulder, blew a whistle, and summoned Nimbus 2000, which was not far from the Burrow, in a paddock belonging to the Weasleys. There were trees there, so they didn't have to worry about being seen by the villagers practicing Quidditch.
Harry blinked, and suddenly realized something.
Sometimes people grow up like this, from being ignorant to becoming mature, especially when they want to be a person that everyone around them praises. This can be regarded as a unique social practice class that Dudley taught Harry.
This also made Harry more mature and his temperament a little smoother. At least during the Goblet of Fire, he did not have a conflict with Ron.
However, how could a natural savior change his size so easily?
On the following Wednesday, after breakfast, Mrs. Weasley brought a flower pot from the mantelpiece.
"Not much, alas."
"I have to go buy some today...Okay, guests first! Harry, you go first!"
There was a pile of shiny powder inside.
Harry was stunned, and Ron immediately added.
"Harry hasn't used Floo powder yet!"
Fred was the first to step forward. He pinched a pinch of Floo powder, winked at Harry, and then threw it into the flames. The flames turned emerald green and shot up high. Fred walked straight into the fire, shouted "Diagon Alley!", and disappeared in the blink of an eye.
"Don't be afraid, be brave, and make sure you shout clearly where you are going, understand?"
Mrs. Weasley wished she could go in instead of Harry.
"Be careful when you come out of the other furnace doors. Close your eyes. There may be soot on them."
Ron also reminded.
Harry mustered up his courage and looked at Dudley. Seeing his cousin's encouraging look, he plucked up his courage and walked into the fire.
"Right—Diagon Alley!"
Before the coughing sound ended, Harry's figure disappeared into the fireplace.
This is a return to the original.
Dudley sighed and decided to go to Knockturn Alley to look for Harry as soon as he landed.
What if Hagrid didn't show up in time?
