Chapter 73 Became My Experimental Material
Glenn smiled as he saw them off and watched them leave together. He then drove his reindeer cart towards his own tavern.
When you arrive at your destination, park the deer cart aside.
I wonder how many employees we can recruit today? It would be better if we have more than three, so that things will be much easier later on... Glenn pushed open the door of the tavern with anticipation.
Without looking at Ravel who stood up, Glenn immediately looked around. When he saw a tall and thin man sitting alone in the corner, his face immediately fell.
He grabbed Ravel by the collar and asked questioningly, "Don't tell me that only one person came in today."
Ravel was a little flustered for a moment and explained: "There are only four people here today, and the first three don't meet your requirements! Only he is more qualified..."
"Just four?" Glenn frowned and let go of Curly.
At this time, the tall and thin man had walked over and bowed politely, "Hello, sir, you can call me Luther."
Glenn held out a hand, "Glenn."
The other party shook it and then let go.
"Since he has reviewed it, you should be qualified. When can you start working?"
"anytime."
Seeing the other party's decisive answer, Glenn nodded with satisfaction.
Then he turned around and said to Ravel, "Let me see your review records."
The latter immediately took out the pale yellow paper, on which were paragraphs of information written in not very nice handwriting.
Seeing these words, Glenn felt annoyed and couldn't help but said, "Practice your handwriting later."
Ravel didn't dare to refute and could only nod submissively.
Glenn browsed through the contents one by one with an archaeological attitude and finished them in a short while.
What was written on the paper was exactly as Ravel had said, the first three people did not meet Glenn's requirements.
Either they are sick or they have very bad character and behavior.
For the time being, Glenn believed that this curly-haired noble would not dare to lie to him. He looked at the tall and thin man Luther again and asked:
"You used to be a butcher, which is in line with my needs. But it says you are from out of town. Do you have a place to live here?"
"Yes, sir. My wife used to live here. After she married me, her house became empty. Now she has passed away, so I live in her old house now."
Luther explained slowly.
"Oh~" Glenn nodded, then pointed at the other person's right hand and suddenly asked: "Can you tell me what's in your sleeve?"
Luther's heart seemed to skip a beat and his pupils shrank suddenly!
"What are you talking about, sir? I don't understand you. Of course there are hands in the sleeves. What else could it be..."
"Really?" Glenn narrowed his eyes upon seeing the other party's reaction.
Just as Luther was thinking about whether to escape, Glenn's right hand suddenly flashed, bringing up a gust of wind.
When he reacted, he found that Glenn had a dagger in his hand.
Luther's mind went blank for a moment, and he stood there stupidly, with great fear enveloping him.
Glenn frowned and looked at the ordinary dagger in his hand again and again, then put it to his nose to smell it.
Why does this thing smell so strange? But it doesn't seem to be anything special... Glenn was puzzled, his eyes becoming sharper and sharper, staring at the blade of the dagger.
The next moment, barely perceptible traces of water appeared on the blade of the dagger.
"Where does the water come from?" Glenn was even more confused.
At this time, Luther's brain had recovered and he rushed towards Glenn, screaming hysterically:
"give me back!!!"
Glenn dodged the attack by leaning sideways, then threw the dagger into his left hand, grabbed the opponent's wrist with his right hand, and twisted it.
Luther's arms were twisted behind his back and he screamed in pain.
Glenn was about to ask something when the dagger in his hand suddenly opened a mouth and uttered a voice that was not human: "Let him go!"
"Dagger... dagger... is talking!?" Ravel didn't understand how things were going just now, and now he was so scared that he was incoherent.
Glenn also looked surprised as he looked at the dagger which had now changed greatly.
A human eye was split on the blade, and a shark-like mouth appeared in the middle of the blade, speaking human words.
"Give it back to me..." Luther turned his head with difficulty, sweating all over his forehead.
The eyes on the dagger stared at him hatefully, and Glenn fell into a brief moment of deep thought.
After a moment, he asked in a strange tone, "This...could this be your wife?"
Luther remained silent. Just when Glenn thought he had agreed, he whispered, "He is my son..."
Glenn: “…”
Letting go of Luther, Glenn asked bluntly, "Tell me, what's going on?"
The latter ignored his aching arm and turned around to look at the strange dagger with concern.
"Can you give him back to me first? Please don't hurt him. He is everything in my life."
Glenn thought for just a moment and threw the object back.
Luther hurriedly caught it and asked anxiously: "Angie! Angie! Are you okay?"
"I'm fine..." Dagger replied.
Luther breathed a sigh of relief and put the dagger back into his sleeve.
When Glenn thought the other party was about to start explaining the whole story, the tall and thin man bent his knees and was about to kneel down.
Glenn grabbed the man's shoulders, preventing him from kneeling down.
"Speak properly, don't kneel!"
Luther tried several times but to no avail. He knew it was impossible, so he could only stand up and say, "Mr. Glenn, before you tell me about my story, please don't spread this matter. Otherwise, my son and I will die."
"If you and your son are right, I will agree to your request," Glenn said after careful consideration.
Luther opened his mouth, as if he wanted to argue, but he closed his eyes and whispered, "Then listen to me first, and then judge whether I am wrong..."
Glenn immediately pulled up a stool and sat down.
The same is true of Ravel.
Both of them looked like loyal listeners.
"Okay, let the story begin." Luther said slowly, "The experiences I told you before are all true. I used to be an ordinary butcher in Tara Town. I have a wife and a son, and my family is happy.
"But one day when I was drinking in the tavern, I met a magician who told me that my wife had a terrible disease and would die soon. This was the result of her divination.
"I was extremely panicked because my wife had indeed been coughing recently. I quickly asked her to save my wife, and she seemed to feel sorry for me and agreed.
"So, she started asking me to collect various herbs and make my own medicine. I did everything she asked and gave it to my wife on time every day.
“However, my wife’s condition did not improve, so I anxiously asked the magician about it. She said that her condition was more serious than she thought and she needed to take her away for treatment herself.
"I had no idea what I wanted at the time, so I agreed to it, but I haven't seen my wife since then.
"It was several months later when I met the magician again. I asked her why she hadn't returned my wife to me. She thought for a long time before she smiled and said, 'The woman you mentioned a few months ago has become my experimental material.'"
