Glenn could feel the thing ricocheting through his palm like a bullet, trying to escape.

But Glenn's intuition told him that this might be a good thing, so there was no way he could let it go.

Glenn slowly narrowed the space in his palm and finally grabbed the thing in one hand.

"Go back and ask the old man what it is."

He whispered to himself and returned to the place where he had just been. He checked the little girl's body and after making sure that she was just unconscious, he quietly put her in Hank's farm and waited for others to find her.

Running fast all the way, on the road about to enter the Baiyek Outer Forest, Glenn saw an old man who seemed to be preparing for a long journey.

He called out to the other person from a distance.

The latter also stopped upon hearing the sound and was surprised to see Glenn running towards him.

"Old man, where are you going?" Glenn asked as he approached.

"I was invited by a friend to do something." The old man answered casually, pointing to Glenn's right hand, which had turned into a wolf fist, and said, "What's wrong with your hand?"

Glenn raised his hand, "I caught a strange creature, it jumps very fast, I'm afraid it will run away."

The old man looked thoughtful and asked, "What is it? Tell me in detail."

Glenn then briefly recounted what had happened to him.

After hearing this, the old man's expression was surprised at first, and then became solemn.

"Old man, you should know what this is, right?" Glenn asked at last.

After a silence of about four or five seconds, the old man said, "From your description, it should be a fire bug. I don't know which species it is. I can't be sure. They have many branches and the differences are very subtle."

"What's the use of this thing?" Glenn asked.

"More than being useful, this thing is considered rare among magical materials. One can be sold for thousands of gold coins." The old man replied with a sneer.

"Thousands..." Glenn suddenly clenched his hands, fearing that the thing would run away, and swallowed.

If I sell this thing, I won't have to work hard anymore! Glenn thought so beautifully.

Seeing Glenn's expression, the old man couldn't help but sigh and said, "I advise you not to sell it."

"Why?" Glenn asked after he calmed down a little.

"This kind of thing is hard to come by. Many magicians have never encountered one in their entire lives. If you need this thing in the future but you sell it, you may not even have a place to cry."

So rare?! ... Glenn was surprised that his luck was so good.

He then asked: "What is the use of this thing?"

"The Fire Worm is the only creature that can produce turbid fire on its own. Turbid fire is needed in many high-level magics, arrays, and magic props. Some high-level magicians, without fire worms to provide turbid fire, can only venture into the rift of the Demon Abyss to collect scattered turbid fire. It is conceivable how dangerous it would be to go deep into the heart of the demon clan. Except for extremely powerful magicians, almost none of them would return."

After the old man finished explaining, he took out an old pocket watch and looked at it.

This is really a good thing. It's a pity that it can't be sold... Glenn thought with some regret, and shook his clenched palms again, "Then how should I preserve it? Should I find a cage to keep it?"

"Of course you can if you can find a cage like that. This thing doesn't need to eat or drink. It can survive by absorbing the elemental energy in the air. You just need to collect some shed insect shells regularly as storage materials."

The old man nodded and explained.

"I don't have that kind of cage." Glenn was just making an analogy, of course he didn't have that kind of cage.

The old man seemed to have expected this. "This is easy. Just weave a bag with your wolf hair, right?"

Is this still possible? ... Glenn's eyes widened a little, "Are you trying to make fun of me?"

"I don't have the time for that, but this method is feasible." The old man said confidently.

Glenn could only believe it. Suddenly, he recalled the old man's serious expression at first, and asked tentatively:

"Old man, do you have anything else to say? I just noticed your serious expression."

The old man chuckled twice, "You've grown quite a bit, and you're quite alert, right?"

Glenn did not answer, so the old man said:

"The appearance of fire bugs often foreshadows disasters. I read this when I was flipping through an ancient book. After comparing the records of each discovery of fire bugs, I find that this statement is not groundless."

"So you suspect a disaster will happen here soon?" Glenn asked.

The old man didn't comment.

Glenn looked at his right hand and felt the struggle of the fire bug in it. After a moment's thought, he asked again, "Are those records of natural disasters or something else?"

"Natural disaster?" The old man obviously had never heard of this new term.

"They're natural disasters like hurricanes and earthquakes," Glenn explained simply.

The old man fell silent and thought for a while. "It shouldn't be the case. Either it was a beast riot or a powerful evil creature appeared. These are not caused by nature."

Knowing that it was this kind of disaster, Glenn felt relieved. If it was a natural disaster, he would not be afraid, but his property...

"There is still time, so I will tell you some basic information about the Fire Bug." The old man looked at his pocket watch again and spoke a little quickly.

Glenn perked up immediately.

The old man continued speaking quickly:

“No one knows about the birth of the Fire Worms until now. They don’t have much intelligence when they are born. Only when they parasitize other organisms will they have intelligence similar to that of the host.

“I don’t know if it’s intentional, but most fire bugs will consciously choose humans as their hosts, but this is not the case for other highly intelligent races.

"When they have enough thinking ability after parasitizing, they may choose to change hosts, to one with higher status or stronger strength. However, there are conditions for changing hosts. There is no unified answer. Some depend on time, some on physical condition, and some on gender.

"When they have enough understanding of this world and understand how precious they are, they will hide themselves to avoid being discovered by others. However, magicians have long created tools specifically for detecting them, so it is almost impossible for fire bugs to hide."

After saying that, the old man walked away, "Okay, that's all I know, be careful not to let others steal it."

Watching the old man walk away quickly, Glenn felt that he should treasure this thing even more.

He ran home at an even faster pace, as he had to quickly weave a bag to raise the fire bugs.

When I got home, Tia was not there. I guess she had followed Glenn's advice and gone to play with the elf lady.

I looked around the house but couldn't find anything suitable to use as knitting needles. Also, one of my hands couldn't move, so it was difficult to knit.

There was no choice but to call Tia back.
