Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons

Chapter 61 Tang Monk's 9981 Difficulties, the 5th

Chen Guangrui now looks emaciated and crazy. It is a pity to think that he was once a handsome top scholar who rode his horse in the Imperial Street, but has fallen into his current state.

"Alas, Brother Chen, why are you doing this? It's really unbearable to watch." Hongjiang Dragon King sighed. The biggest problem of this dragon is that he has shallow eyes and a soft heart. He can't help but feel sorry for anyone who is pitiful. So he decided to return to Hongjiang as soon as possible. As long as he can't see it with his eyes, he naturally won't feel sympathy in his heart.

So without even saying hello, he just took off into the air and disappeared without a trace.

"Tsk!" Feng Ji put the sword back into the sheath and rolled his eyes.

The monks of Jingye Temple heard the noise and came to investigate. They saw him and Fengji fighting happily, so they were afraid of being affected and had to stay away. Now they saw the Dragon King flying away and Fengji flying back to the house, so they dared to approach and knock on the door: "Yuanjing, open the door! What happened just now? Why did the monster fight with the golden man? Is Xuanzang okay? Is the female donor okay? Are you okay too?"

When Wen Jiao heard this, she knew that "Yuan Jing" was Chen Guangrui's Buddhist name when he pretended to be a monk. She glanced at the distraught Chen Guangrui and said, "It's a good name, but it's a pity that he met a bad person."

As they were talking, Feng Ji had already opened the door, and the abbot rushed in with a group of monks. They first ran to the bedside and breathed a sigh of relief when they saw that Xuanzang was safe and sound. They were even more surprised to see that his complexion was rosy and his breathing was normal. Then they noticed Wen Jiao and put their hands together and said, "Amitabha, the female donor is also safe and sound. Congratulations."

At this time, Wen Jiao had already hidden the dagger back into her sleeve. She had become a gentle and beautiful lady. She smiled and said, "Thank you for your concern, Master. Xuanzang has taken the medicine sent by the Dragon King and is now fine."

Since the Dragon King came to deliver medicine, why did he fight with your servant? Your servant just fought with the Dragon King in the air, everyone saw it clearly, he was clearly a nine-tailed fox, and then he turned into a human form, is he really not a demon? The Dragon King was willing to give medicine after a fight, this attitude is really very subtle!

The abbot was aware of these doubts, but he was a shrewd man and naturally would not delve into the details. He immediately chanted the Buddhist mantra, "The gods appear and give medicine to save people. The Dragon King has mercy and protects the monks!" After saying this, he bowed in the direction where the Hongjiang Dragon King flew away, and the monks followed suit and bowed and praised him.

You can make this thing look like the Dragon King saving people, and show off that your monk is blessed by the gods. What's wrong with your brain? You are really talented? Wen Jiao gave a big thumbs up to the abbot's awareness of crisis public relations.

At this time, no one realized that Wen Jiao and Chen Guangrui's tossing and turning had caused Xuanzang to suffer a great pain that almost killed him. It also caused the five Jiedis, the four valued officials, the six Dings and six Jias, and the guardian of the religion to hand over the disaster book to Guanyin Bodhisattva in the Great Leiyin Temple in front of the gods and Buddhas in the future. After "Jinchan was demoted to the first difficulty, and was almost killed in the womb, the second difficulty. The third difficulty was thrown into the river at the full moon, and the fourth difficulty was to find relatives and avenge the grievances.", there was an additional sentence "Shendu was almost killed in the fifth difficulty." As a result, Guanyin Bodhisattva no longer needed to deliberately create a drowning incident to make up the 9981 difficulties, and the 5,048 volumes of the true scriptures were able to return to the Tang Dynasty intact and spread for thousands of years, which can be said to have a far-reaching impact.

Wen Jiao also had her record in the Buddhist book of merit because of this, and was later awarded a Buddhist position. This was not only due to her merits in slaying demons and eliminating monsters over the years, but also because of this reason.

At this time, Wen Jiao, who knew nothing about the future, let the monks finish their worship, and then signaled them to look at Chen Guangrui who was exhausted beside him: "Xuanzang is not sick, he was poisoned by him. I just heard that his Buddhist name is Yuan Jing? What's wrong with your temple? The monks actually poisoned the disciples of the same temple. They are so vicious. How can they be compassionate like the Buddha!"

The abbot was confused by the questioning. He carefully looked at Chen Guangrui's face and was shocked: "You are not Yuan Jing, who are you?"

Chen Guangrui said nothing, but just laughed miserably in a low voice.

"Oh? So it's an impostor? Why don't you report it to the police right away?" Wen Jiao said.

According to Tang Dynasty law, the most severe punishment for harming others with poison was hanging. Even if Chen Guangrui and Xuanzang were found to be father and son and given a lighter sentence, he would still be thrown into prison and fight with rats for more than ten years for the father killing his son. For a top scholar like Chen Guangrui, this was the most horrible way to live a miserable life.

Chen Guangrui fainted from anger after being carried away by two tall and strong monks.

Fortunately, a few minutes later, the missing Yuan Jing was found. The unlucky monk was knocked unconscious, tied up and thrown into the woodshed. He had nothing to eat or drink for the whole day. After being rescued, he gulped down three bowls of porridge in one breath.

It's really pitiful.

Wen Jiao donated money to repair the broken roof of the Zen room. With the extra money, the abbot was asked to bring Bian Ji to recite a few sutras for Xuanzang, who had been suffering from bad luck recently. The broken instruments left by the Dragon King of Hongjiang were taken by Feng Ji as the errand fee this time.

As for the unlucky Xuanzang, who was used as bait by his own father to catch Wen Jiao, he finally opened his eyes when the first ray of morning light shone through the window lattice the next day.

What caught his eyes was Wen Jiao's slightly tired face. She sat on the edge of the bed, propping her forehead with her hand, nodding her head constantly. There were faint blue marks under her usually clear eyes. It was obvious that she had been watching over him all night and began to doze off.

Xuanzang suddenly burst into tears.

The Buddha once said: "Parents have great benefits for their children. They feed and raise them, and nurture them at all times, so that the four elements can be completed." His rebirth in the world was naturally due to his parents, but the one who worked hard to raise him was Elder Faming of Jinshan Temple. The grace of birth and the grace of raising are not from the same side, which made him have infinite reverie about the love between parents and children described in the scriptures since he was a child.

Buddha said that mothers work hard to breastfeed their children, are busy and exhausted, and their bones are much darker than men's bones after death. He only felt such great love when he recognized his biological mother Yin Wenjiao at the Hongzhou government office and cried bitterly.

Yin Wenjiao loved him, so Chen Guangrui naturally loved him too, although he was rather cold to her after his resurrection. But Xuanzang was always kind-hearted and thought highly of others, so he naturally did not expect that Chen Guangrui was disappointed with his son who was destined to fail to bring honor to the family, so disappointed that he wished he had never existed.

In Chen Guangrui's eyes, his value only existed in keeping his mother Yin Wenjiao hanging, and for this, Chen Guangrui was even willing to sacrifice his life. Xuanzang clearly remembered that the poisonous Hu cake was so strong that it almost cut off his breathing. But Chen Guangrui was only happy that his plan had succeeded, and didn't care about his pain. It was his accomplice who reminded him that if he didn't take the antidote, he would die on the spot.

No matter how magnanimous and open-minded a monk is, he will feel aggrieved when he knows that his biological father regards his life as worthless.

From beginning to end, the only one who loved him was his mother.

Xuanzang took a deep breath, trying to suppress his crying, and uttered a few words silently: "Mother."
