The Immortal God of War
Chapter 21 Royal Theatre
As the noisy sound of wheels stopped, I knew we had most likely arrived at the so-called Royal Theater. After Lilith paid the bill, she took Liu Chi to an intersection before we saw the Royal Theater.
There was a hint of sweetness in the air, and what came into view was a huge fountain pool.
It was the hottest time of the day, and the water mist sprayed into the air reflected the sun's brilliance like scorching stars.
Liu Chi narrowed his eyes slightly and looked in the direction of his sight. There seemed to be two flying creatures looming on the top of the mist.
Liuchi blinked, and I was sure he saw it as well as I did, but as soon as he blinked, the creature disappeared.
"Isn't it beautiful?" Lilith's voice came from my ears. "This is a wonder in the imperial capital, called the Fairy Spring. Its source and formation are unknown, so we just use it as a landscape."
"How did you know?" Liu Chi asked in a questioning tone.
“Isn’t there a sign over there?”
Looking in the direction Lilith pointed, there was indeed an inconspicuous sign there.
I don’t know if Liu Chi felt his own stupidity, but he scratched his head with his free left hand.
“It really seems to be a sign.”
"Okay, let's not waste any more time. I'm so hungry."
With the pulling feeling on his right arm, Liu Chi didn't react and was pulled over directly.
How can I describe the decoration style of the Royal Theatre? In my opinion, it is a bit similar to the Gothic style. I don't know what the material of the outer wall is, but it looks like mutton-fat jade. But when I was told this in its entirety, I didn't believe it, so I just took that step with doubt.
"Do you two have reservations?"
Liu Chi raised his head and looked at the man clearly. He was about 35 years old, a little thin and nearly two meters tall. He was wearing a straight uniform, with light blue pupils and a deep look in his eyes, which could easily make people fall in love with him.
But Liu Chi only raised his head and made eye contact with the man, then moved his gaze to the normal level.
Lilith took out two tickets. The man took them with both hands and looked at them for a while. "Please come in, the afternoon show has already started. I will show you the way."
The man pulled out a golden ribbon from the side to block the entrance and hung up a sign saying the restaurant was full.
The man walked in front and led the way. To my surprise, the interior of the building looked very large, and it was very likely a single-story building, not as multi-story as it looked from the outside.
After walking up a flight of stairs, a very exquisite double door appeared in front of him. The man knocked on the door, and it opened inward. Two waiters, a man and a woman, stood on both sides of the door.
"My two guests, I will leave first." The man turned around, bowed 90 degrees, smiled and left.
Liu Chi followed Lilith in and the door closed.
A small round table was placed next to the stands in the room. Looking down from here, I could see a stage play being performed there. I realized that this room was an auditorium of the type of a box.
"My two guests, we will leave after the tea is served. If you need anything, please touch the crystal ball next to the door."
Liu Chi and Lilith nodded and turned their attention to the stage below.
Maybe I didn’t know what story the play was about at the beginning, so I was confused. Fortunately, watching a play does not require the brain to think, and as the story progressed, I figured out what the story was.
The love story of a violent "monarch" and his female guard ended quickly in the first act. I didn't know when the tea was served, and Liu Chi and Lilith seemed confused.
"Hey! Lilith, do you know what this story is?" I asked. Judging from Liu Chi's physical reaction, my question scared him.
"Wow! I'm going to the bathroom. Wait for me." Liu Chi said immediately, got up and went to the bathroom in the room.
"Can you please not talk today?" Liu Chi said to the mirror, with a hint of dissatisfaction in his tone.
"Okay, you have to agree to one condition of mine."
"What conditions?"
"We have to discuss everything before we act. I am doing this for your own good."
Liu Chi hesitated for a moment and said, "Okay!"
After discussing with Liu Chi, I walked out of the bathroom. Lilith looked at Liu Chi with curiosity.
"Master, I know what this stage play is about. The first scene is about the hero becoming emperor, right?"
Liu Chi nodded. I have no idea whether he knew this or not. After all, the sharing of memories does not mean the sharing of thoughts.

From then on, until I walked out of the Royal Theater, I kept my promise and didn't say a word. Instead, I calmed down and watched the entire boring opera. I always thought that the boring and artificial opera actually gave me an interesting feeling in this foreign continent. It may be because I have been too bored over the years.
The story is a standard Shakespearean tragedy, with the monarch dying tragically and the female guard committing suicide for love. Although the story is rather bloody, I was deeply impressed by the bravery and fearlessness of the "violent" monarch. Although he liked his female guard, he was too stubborn to confess his feelings and did not even think of her until the moment he "bravely" died. This was a punishment for his arrogance and conceit.
The setting of the play is also quite interesting. The female guard showed her true strength only after the monarch died, which means that in terms of strength, the female guard was greater than the monarch. But it was too late, and she finally embarked on the road of chasing the monarch. It can be said that the monarch died for the world, and I am willing to kill the world for the monarch. The whole plot reached its climax when the female guard "ran away" and ended by committing suicide on the throne.
Maybe only after watching this stage play carefully can you understand what Qingyan is up to. As for whether Liu Chi understands it or not, I don’t know.
It was already evening, and the magic stones on the street lit up automatically. The most prosperous night market in the imperial capital had just begun.
"Do you want to go back?" Liu Chi asked.
"No! Take me out for a drink." Lilith said.
Drinking? There's something interesting to watch. I thought to myself, Liu Chi is a joke. He gets drunk after just one glass of wine.
As expected, Liu Chi may have realized that he couldn't drink and looked a little embarrassed, but he still agreed, "Then where shall we go to drink?"
The street where the Royal Theater is located should be the most prosperous area in the imperial capital. Luxury goods, chambers of commerce, and some important economic structures are emerging in an endless stream. On the contrary, there is not a single pub. Of course, there are still high-end restaurants.
"Go to the Black Market Tavern!"
I was shocked. I know that although the capital has good security, that is only a comprehensive statement. There are still many unstable factors in the South and West districts, and the country has no way to eradicate these unstable factors. As the saying goes, where there is a transaction, there is a market. In addition to buying things that cannot be bought in the regular market, the black market has also become a "place" for some dignitaries who are unwilling to show up to conduct dirty transactions. Over time, more and more "derivatives" are born along with the black market.
"Black Market Tavern?" Liu Chi asked back, "Isn't that kind of place very dangerous?"
Liu Chi, who had lived in the slums for several years, was well aware of how dangerous they were. The Empire generally turned a blind eye to these so-called "minor incidents" and would not intervene as long as no major problems arose.
"Hmph! Master, don't worry. Nothing will go wrong with me here. Besides, if a person spends his whole life in a safe haven, how can he grow?"
After hearing this, I think Lilith has some realization. If people only stay within their comfort zone, their life will naturally be comfortable, but they will lose certain possibilities.
"Okay!" Liu Chi's expression became serious for a while, "Let's go to the black market tavern."
The two of them called a carriage and headed towards the darkest area in the southern district.
