The girl was stunned for a moment, then she understood in an instant, so he guessed it but didn't say it out loud. He kept the veil and didn't remove it directly.

Looking at the boy in front of her, the girl silently said thank you in her heart.

During those years in northern Myanmar, she lived almost like a beggar, or even worse than a beggar.

She wore the most tattered clothes, smeared her face with dirt every day, and her hair was as frizzy as straw. She was a being that would make the demons feel disgusted at first sight.

But the more they hated her, the more they tortured her. They locked her in a cage, whipped her, and made her fight with dogs and livestock...

But fortunately, these are only physical pains.

Compared to those who were sold to various places and suffered physical and mental torture, she was so much better off.

Facing Li Chen's starry eyes, the girl nodded, "Okay."

Ever since she met him, she seemed to be letting down her guard little by little.

Maybe it was because of the young man in front of me, who always gave me a reassuring feeling, or maybe it was because every time he smiled, it was like sunshine, warming this long-frozen heart.

So, she was willing to believe him, and she believed everything he said.

When Li Chen came out of the mall, he was carrying a lot of shopping bags, all of which were the spoils he had just bought in the mall.

There were beautiful dresses, pretty hair accessories, jewelry...as long as it was related to little girls, he bought some of it.

The salesman was so happy that he couldn't stop smiling, and kept praising the man for how much he loved his sister. He didn't deny it and bought another batch, as if he was purchasing new stock.

The girl felt embarrassed and kept pulling at his clothes, trying to get him to stop.

But he seemed to be addicted to buying and couldn't be stopped.

After putting the clothes on the back seat, he opened the foam box, took out a bottle of milk and handed it to the girl.

The residual warmth of the milk reached the girl's palm. She was a little surprised. When she came out of the restaurant, Li Chen was holding such a foam box in his hand.

She hadn't known what was inside at the time, but now she knew.

Seeing her standing by the car door staring at the milk in her hand in a daze, Li Chen explained: "The doctor said that you are malnourished and need to be well nourished. Don't leave a drop of milk in your hand."

After he finished speaking, he seemed to have thought of something and strode over.

He took the milk back from the girl, held the bottle, and said, "It's only a little bit warm left. It seems that the insulation effect of this foam box is not good. It was heated yesterday, and it's only been a night, but there is only a little bit of residual heat."

"Forget it, don't drink it. I'll find a restaurant later and heat it up. You have a bad stomach, so you'd better not drink cold food." As he said this, he was about to put the milk back.

The girl said, "It's still a little warm."

She looked at Li Chen with her eyes shining. It was impossible to say that she was not touched at all.

After all, in the past ten years or so, she had never been cared for and concerned about by anyone.

She suddenly remembered the millet porridge and hot milk he had specially ordered for her in the restaurant that day. She seemed to finally understand why he urged her to finish the cup of hot milk.

It turns out that he was concerned about himself.

Her stomach was in trouble due to years of fasting and not eating enough. Even she herself didn't care about it, but Li Chen noticed it and took care of her in his own way.

Although the milk only had a little temperature left, somewhere in my heart I felt warm, as if I was being enveloped by sunshine.

It seemed that after escaping from that devil's den, she felt more and more kindness in this world.

Li Chen raised his eyebrows slightly, "Not even a little bit of temperature is okay. You have a bad stomach, so you have to pay more attention."

After saying that, he put the milk back.

The lunch we had was the same light meal as yesterday, except that the foam box for the milk had been upgraded to an insulated box, and the milk inside had been reheated.

Li Chen put the box of milk on the back seat, closed the car door, and said, "We'll get on the highway at noon, stop in Ancheng later, and drive another day tomorrow to get to Beijing. When we get to Beijing, I'll take you around and meet someone."

The girl nodded, "Okay."

Although she didn't know who Li Chen was going to take her to see, she would instinctively accept and believe whatever he said.

The journey took two days at a leisurely pace, and we arrived in the capital city in the evening the next day.

The car drove into an upscale residential area and stopped in the underground garage.

Li Chen opened the car door, took out the luggage from the back seat, and looked at the girl standing by the passenger door, "Let's go! We'll stay here tonight."

The girl nodded, followed Li Chen out of the garage, and got on the elevator.

With a "ding dong" sound, the elevator stopped on the 23rd floor. Li Chen walked out and the girl hurriedly followed.

Arriving at the door of 2301, Li Chen put his finger on the door lock and the door opened.

He walked in, changed his shoes, and found another pair of slippers from the shoe cabinet. They were gray and large, probably for men.

Putting the shoes on the ground, Li Chen explained: "We don't have slippers for little girls at home. You can wear these for now. I'll buy you a new pair tomorrow."

As if he was afraid that the girl would dislike it, he quickly added: "It's new, no one has ever worn it."

The girl was stunned for a moment, not knowing how to react. After a long while, she uttered two words, "Thank you."

After changing into slippers, she followed Li Chen through the entrance hall and saw a large living room with a cream-colored sofa, a brown background wall, an irregular gray-white carpet, and a mahogany coffee table, which looked very textured.

The only thing that puzzled her was that there was no TV on the TV cabinet, but next to the TV cabinet, there was a green plant that was almost as tall as her.

Her eyes were full of curiosity, and she looked around like a kitten who had just arrived in a strange environment.

Li Chen looked at her with a slight smile on his lips. He did not disturb her by saying anything, but put the luggage in his hand casually on the sofa and went to the kitchen to pour her some water.

The kitchen is open and faces the living room.

"Is this your home?" The girl suddenly looked at him with a serious expression.

Li Chen paused while pouring the water, his expression darkened, "I guess so!"

I guess so, that is it.

So, this is Li Chen’s home. Are there any other people in this home?

His parents, or siblings?

If his parents came and saw her, how would she respond?

What if it was his brother or sister, what should she do?
