Chapter 26! Warehouse Building

This impromptu drinking party didn't last long. The three of them calmed down and prepared to leave the bar.

However, before leaving, Jill tried to persuade the survivors to go with him, but no one agreed.

The reason given by the survivors was simple: there were man-eating monsters outside, and instead of taking risks outside, it would be better to wait here for rescue from the army.

Jill no longer insisted. After leaving some bullets, he left the bar with Shen Ye and the others.

……

Shortly after leaving the bar, they began looking for a building that was tall enough or strong enough, because only a building that met these two conditions could support the landing of a rescue helicopter.

Jill and Brad had been in Raccoon City for many years and were very familiar with the terrain. They quickly identified a target not far from the bar, where there was a large warehouse building that met all the requirements in terms of height and sturdiness.

But Jill and Brad obviously didn't realize that this not far refers to what they usually think of as a short distance when they take the car. If they walk, it will be a very long distance.

Especially in the current situation, they have to spend more time.

By the time they arrived at the warehouse, several hours had passed.

Of course, they spent more time avoiding zombies and had very little time actually traveling.

The three of them were not at the front door of the warehouse, but at the back door, where there was only a small iron door that could only accommodate one person.

The iron gate was locked, but Jill was an expert at unlocking locks, so this was not a problem for her. It took her less than ten seconds to open the door.

"You are more talented as a thief than a policeman, Jill." Shen Ye sighed.

Jill just smiled and said nothing.

They entered through the iron gate one by one, with Shen Ye walking in front. As soon as he entered, before he could see the situation inside clearly, he heard the sound of a gun bolt being pulled.

Shen Ye was very familiar with this voice. He immediately dodged to the side and shouted loudly: "Be careful to hide, there are armed men."

Jill and Brad are both elite police officers. As soon as Shen Ye spoke, they dispersed to the left and right, looking for advantageous terrain.

However, after the sound of pulling the bolt, no gunshot was heard. Obviously, the owner of the gun discovered that the person coming in was a human.

"Come out, I won't shoot." A male voice sounded in the warehouse.

Shen Ye turned his head and winked at Jill behind him, then poked his head out from the cover and saw a short and fat middle-aged white man standing next to a truck. He was holding a pistol with the muzzle pointed downward, as if to prove that he had no ill intentions.

But even so, Shen Ye still did not stand up. He shouted at the other party: "Can you reset the hammer of your pistol first?"

"You should know that it is very dangerous to face a fired pistol at this distance."

"Yes, this is a very reasonable request." The middle-aged man responded loudly, then he raised the pistol, reset the pistol hammer in front of Shen Ye, and turned off the safety.

His actions made Shen Ye a little embarrassed. He immediately stood up from behind the shelter and said, "I'm sorry, I was too worried."

"It's normal. If I were you, I would be worried too." The middle-aged man was surprisingly understanding.

"Are you the only one here?"

While Shen Ye was talking to the middle-aged man, Jill and Brad also came out of the bunker. After seeing that there was only the middle-aged man, Jill asked.

"If it can be considered a human, then there are two of them." The middle-aged man pointed to one of the trucks in the warehouse. Inside the cab of the truck, a zombie was baring its fangs and claws at them, but because of the car windows, it looked a little funny.

"Well, it seems you're not lonely." Jill shrugged.

Then she added: "It's too dangerous to be with zombies. Do you want to leave here with us?"

"Leave here?" the middle-aged man asked, "How are you going to leave?"

"Let's go to the top floor. Jill said it's incredibly big, and there's a flat, solid rooftop that's big enough to accommodate several helicopters." Shen Ye interrupted, "And it's high enough that it'll be easier for a rescue helicopter to spot us."

"In fact, it can not only accommodate helicopters, but also trucks because it is a parking lot." The middle-aged man probably worked here before and was very familiar with the place.

"That sounds even better." Jill laughed. "So, are you willing to leave with us?"

The middle-aged man shook his head: "I don't want to leave."

"Why?" Jill asked, "Are you also waiting for military rescue?"

"I never counted on them." The middle-aged man continued to shake his head, "I just want to stay here, in my car, alone."

At this point, a trace of sadness flashed in his eyes, and then he turned and climbed into the cargo box of his truck. While closing the cargo door, he said to Jill: "Listen, lady, if you really want to go to the top floor, it's best to take the stairs, because the elevator is full of monsters."

After saying this, he closed the cargo door completely.

Hearing the lock sound coming from inside the cargo box, Jill sighed helplessly and said, "Why would they do this?"

"Not everyone has the courage to face danger. Escaping from danger is also a survival instinct." Shen Ye patted her shoulder, then glanced at Brad who was waving at them from a distance, and continued, "Okay, Jill, let's go. Brad should have found the way to the rooftop parking lot."

Jill could only nod and walk towards Brad with Shen Ye.

Brad found two ways, one was stairs and the other was naturally the elevator.

Shen Ye first checked the elevator. It was still working and had not suffered any damage, which surprised him.

He immediately threw the middle-aged man's words behind his mind. Who would take the stairs when there is an elevator?

Jill thought so too. She was exhausted after a night of work and didn't want to waste her energy climbing stairs. She decisively pressed the elevator door open button, then took a few steps back with Shen Ye and Brad.

With a click, the elevator door opened and the zombies inside rushed out.

Because they took a few steps back, there was enough distance for all the zombies to rush out of the elevator. When the last zombie came out, they shot and killed it and approached to enter the elevator.

Just as Shen Ye was about to press the floor number for the top floor, suddenly, a loud noise was heard, accompanied by a man's scream.

Jill rushed out in a hurry. She was a little worried about the civilian, but she only took a look and quickly retreated back to the elevator.

"Close the door quickly." Jill shouted anxiously.

There was no need for explanation, Shen Ye knew what had happened because he had already seen the figure of the pursuer.
