Chapter 14 Desperate Situation
Yaoyao took Zhou Wanwan's hand and led her into the gathering place of the class reunion. Zhou Wanwan was full of uneasiness. She didn't like such gatherings, especially the feeling of being laughed at in front of everyone made her feel extremely embarrassed.
When they entered the venue, everyone's eyes were almost all on them. Zhou Wanwan felt like an insect magnified by a magnifying glass, being scrutinized and laughed at by everyone.
"Haha, look at this Zhou Wanwan, she's a stinky tofu vendor!" a male classmate said jokingly.
"How pitiful! He can only rely on fried stinky tofu sold on the street to make a living." A female classmate laughed.
Zhou Wanwan lowered her head and silently endured the ridicule of the crowd. She used to be a leader among her classmates, but after graduation, she couldn't find a suitable job and had to choose to start her own business, hoping to live a good life with her own efforts. However, the reality made her feel extremely frustrated.
"Wanwan, ignore them, they are just envious, jealous and hateful." Yaoyao whispered to comfort her.
Zhou Wanwan smiled slightly and nodded to Yaoyao, indicating that she was fine. She knew Yaoyao was doing it for her own good, but it was really uncomfortable to be laughed at by her classmates.
Not long after, a tall boy came over. He was Li Hao, Zhou Wanwan’s junior high school deskmate.
"Wanwan, long time no see." Li Hao greeted with a smile.
Zhou Wanwan looked at him in surprise, wondering why he would take the initiative to talk to her.
"I heard that you are now making money by selling fried stinky tofu. I really admire your courage and tenacity." Li Hao said with a hint of admiration in his eyes.
Zhou Wanwan was surprised by his words. She didn't expect Li Hao to affirm her efforts in this way.
"Thank you for your recognition." Zhou Wanwan replied gratefully.
"Wanwan, I think your fried stinky tofu is delicious. I also want to help you promote it. I can try selling it in my company cafeteria for a while and see how it works." Li Hao suggested.
After hearing this, Zhou Wanwan's heart was filled with gratitude and joy. She didn't expect that someone would support her and be willing to help her.
"Thank you, Li Hao, I'm very grateful." Tears welled up in Zhou Wanwan's eyes.
"You're welcome. This is what I should do." Li Hao said with a smile.
In this way, Zhou Wanwan's fried stinky tofu began to be sold in the cafeteria of Li Hao's company. After a period of hard work, the reputation of fried stinky tofu gradually spread, and sales were getting better and better.
However, just when Zhou Wanwan thought she could finally get out of trouble, she encountered new challenges.
Zhou Wanwan is a well-behaved and kind girl who gets along very well with her classmates at school. However, at a recent class reunion, she suffered a serious betrayal.
That night, the class reunion was held in a high-end hotel, and the whole venue was very lively. Zhou Wanwan happily attended the party, looking forward to reuniting with classmates she had not seen for many years and sharing each other's growth and joy.
However, when she entered the meeting, she felt that her classmates' eyes became strange. She didn't know what was going on, so she had to stand aside and watch everyone greet each other. Gradually, she found herself being excluded and no one talked to her. Zhou Wanwan felt sad, and she didn't understand why her classmates were so indifferent to her.
Finally, a classmate came over and said to her with a sarcastic smile: "Wanwan, you are such a pitiful person. Do you think we will forget what you have done? You chose to betray us when we needed help the most, and now you dare to come here to embarrass yourself!"
Zhou Wanwan was stunned when she heard this. She was accused of being a traitor by her classmates, but she didn't know what she had done wrong. She tried to explain, but her classmates didn't want to listen to her and turned away.
Watching her classmates leave one by one, Zhou Wanwan felt extremely lonely and desperate. She felt betrayed, like a lonely star, unable to find a sense of belonging in the darkness. She wanted to leave this place and find a quiet place to calm down.
She went to the hotel bathroom, intending to wash her face and calm herself down. However, when she turned around to leave, she found that the door had been locked from the outside. She pushed the door desperately, but it wouldn't open. There was only silence and darkness around her.
Zhou Wanwan began to panic, and she shouted loudly, trying to attract other people's attention. However, the sound in the toilet seemed to be abnormally echoing, and her cry for help was drowned in the endless silence.
As time went by, Zhou Wanwan became more and more scared. She began to wonder why her classmates were so indifferent to her and why someone would lock her up in this dark place. She tried to recall what she had done, but everything became blurry.
Just when she was desperate, she heard a voice coming from outside. It was a boy's voice, asking, "Is anyone in there? How come someone is locked in the toilet?" Zhou Wanwan's mood suddenly became excited, and she knew that she finally had hope.
The door was opened, and Zhou Wanwan saw a smiling boy who reached out his hand to help her stand up. Zhou Wanwan looked at him gratefully, but found that she could not speak.
The boy noticed her emotions and comforted her softly, "Don't be afraid, you are safe now." Zhou Wanwan nodded to show her understanding.
Zhou Wanwan was locked in a dark and damp toilet, her heart filled with fear and despair.
After much effort, Zhou Wanwan finally found a wire and used all her strength to open the toilet door. She was soaked, but she resolutely walked out of the toilet. However, her suffering did not end, because her classmates suddenly poured a bucket of cold water on her from behind, mocking her and saying, "You deserve to be called Zhou Wanwan."
Zhou Wanwan felt her cheeks getting hot, and tears welled up in her eyes. However, she did not choose to retreat, but raised her head, looked at them with a firm gaze and said, "Do you think you can defeat me like this? I will prove you wrong!"
The students were shocked by Zhou Wanwan's determined gaze and couldn't help feeling a little guilty. They didn't expect that this girl who had always been unknown would have such a strong fighting power.
After the event, Zhou Wanwan rushed to her stall, only to see a mess. The stinky tofu stall had been smashed to pieces, with debris and the smell of rotten tofu scattered on the ground. She stood there in a daze, unable to believe the scene before her.
"What's going on?!" Zhou Wanwan shouted angrily.
An old lady passing by looked at Zhou Wanwan's distressed expression and patiently explained, "This stall was smashed by the Gu family. I heard that you offended Gu Ming before, and he sent people to take revenge."
Zhou Wanwan's heart sank after hearing this. She remembered a dispute a few days ago when she accidentally offended Gu Ming. She didn't expect that he would treat her so cruelly and destroy her only means of livelihood.
Zhou Wanwan made up her mind that she could not let Gu Ming wantonly destroy her efforts. She calmed down and began to think about what to do next.
The next day, Zhou Wanwan came to the front door of Gu's house. She decided to have a good talk with Gu Ming to resolve this tangled grudge.
"Gu Ming, we need to have a good talk!" Zhou Wanwan said coldly.
Gu Ming looked at the unyielding woman in front of him and sneered, "Wanwan, do you think you are still qualified to negotiate with me? No matter how well the stinky tofu sold on the street stalls is, it doesn't matter. You will always be just a humble peddler!"
Zhou Wanwan gritted her teeth, unwilling to be defeated by Gu Ming's ridicule. "Gu Ming, no matter how you belittle me, I will not give up. I will start over, set up a stall again, and sell stinky tofu again! You can stop me once, but you can't stop me forever!"
Gu Ming's face turned gloomy. He didn't expect Zhou Wanwan to be so determined. He couldn't help but get angry and shouted, "Kick her out!"
Several people in black came forward, ready to drive Zhou Wanwan away from Gu's house. However, Zhou Wanwan did not back down, she faced these people without fear.
"Are you the running dogs of the Gu family? How dare you threaten me?" Zhou Wanwan said provocatively.
The men in black were in a stalemate for a while. They were shocked by Zhou Wanwan's courage. Seeing that the situation was not good, Zhou Wanwan immediately seized the opportunity and quickly fled from Gu's house.
On the third day, Zhou Wanwan set up her stall again. She was not frightened by Gu Ming's threats, but strengthened her faith. She knew that only by persisting could she prove her worth.
Day after day, Zhou Wanwan sold stinky tofu, and her life gradually returned to its former peace. However, she knew that this was only temporary, and Gu Ming would never give up.
