Reborn Troops

Chapter 4 The house leaks and it rains all night

When Zhou Wanwan returned home, her mother was still sitting in the living room waiting for her. Zhou Wanwan saw her mother's tired expression and felt a little sympathy in her heart.

"Why did you come back so late?" There was a hint of fatigue in the mother's tone.

"Mom, I submitted my resume again today, but still haven't received a reply." Zhou Wanwan replied softly.

“Is it really so difficult to find a job?” There was helplessness in the mother’s voice.

"Yes, Mom, I'm not well yet." Zhou Wanwan tried to explain.

The mother sighed and looked at Zhou Wanwan with tired eyes.

"I know you are working hard for the family, but we really don't have any extra money right now." There was a hint of helplessness in the mother's voice.

Zhou Wanwan felt even more depressed, she felt that she could not help her family out of the predicament. She began to doubt her own ability and felt helpless about the future.

A few days later, Zhou Wanwan decided to take the initiative to find some temporary jobs, hoping to reduce the burden on her family. She started working in nearby shopping malls, restaurants and supermarkets. Although her income was meager, she hoped to contribute to her family.

Zhou Wanwan sent out many resumes but never received any response. Every day, she silently endured her mother's reproach and the pressure of life. She tried to prove her worth with actions, but it seemed that everything was in vain.

One night, when Zhou Wanwan returned home, her mother was standing at the door waiting for her, with a trace of fatigue in her eyes, as if she had gone through a psychological struggle.

Zhou Wanwan woke up in the afternoon, hungry. However, she had already expected her mother to make trouble for her. Sure enough, when she walked into the kitchen, her mother was sitting at the table, staring at her coldly.

"How can you eat so much? You eat like a pig every day!" said the mother with disgust.

Zhou Wanwan lowered her head, feeling powerless, but she did not give up the idea of resisting.

"Mom, I'm a human being too. I need to eat to survive. You can't always treat me like this, right?" Zhou Wanwan tried to enlighten her mother rationally.

However, the mother shook her head disapprovingly and looked at her daughter coldly.

"You earned the food yourself. I didn't ask you to eat so much. If you feel it's not enough, go out and beg." The mother responded coldly.

There was a hint of anger on Zhou Wanwan's face, and she felt her voice tremble.

"Mom, I'm your daughter! How can you treat me like this?"

The mother shrugged and looked at Zhou Wanwan with disdain.

"I regretted giving birth to a useless thing like you. You don't even have any filial piety. You only know how to eat and eat every day. You don't even take the initiative to wash the pots and pans."

Zhou Wanwan felt like her heart was torn apart. She couldn't understand why a mother was so indifferent to her daughter.

"Mom, I've tried my best. You can't always blame me like this. I also have the right to live a normal life. It's not wrong to enjoy a meal!"

The mother sneered, her eyes full of mockery.

"A normal life? Do you think you deserve it? Don't forget that you are a loser who can't support yourself. Don't think you are so important. I can kick you out at any time."

A gleam of determination flashed in Zhou Wanwan's eyes, and she felt a power rising deep in her heart.

"Mom, you can kick me out, but you can't stop me from pursuing my own happiness. I won't be bound by your stinginess and indifference. I will prove my own worth!"

The mother's eyes widened. She had never thought her daughter would dare to resist her like this. But she did not show weakness.

"You are quite capable. Let's see what you can do."

Zhou Wanwan took a deep breath. She knew the road ahead would be difficult, but she had made up her mind.

"I will work hard and earn enough money to live a good life. I will not be bound by you anymore. I want to prove to you that I can be self-reliant!"

The mother was silent. She looked at the determination in Zhou Wanwan's eyes and seemed to feel a little worried.

"Don't think I'll let you go easily. Just give it a try if you have the guts!"

Zhou Wanwan did not answer, she turned and left the kitchen. She knew that this was only the first step of her resistance, and there were more challenges waiting for her.

Zhou Wanwan left the kitchen with determination, knowing that she would face more challenges. However, this did not make her back off, on the contrary, she felt a strong force surging from deep within her heart, driving her forward.

The next day, Zhou Wanwan got up early and prepared to look for a job. Although she had not received higher education, she was not discouraged. She believed that as long as she worked hard, there would always be opportunities.

She went to the city center and went door to door asking if there were any job opportunities. However, she was rejected everywhere she went. Some people even laughed at her dream and thought she was incompetent.

However, Zhou Wanwan did not give up, she kept searching, she believed that in this vast world, there would always be someone who saw her efforts and potential.

After a few days of hard work, Zhou Wanwan finally found a simple job. Although the salary was meager, it was already a victory for her. She decided to use this job to save money for her dream.

However, as time went on, Zhou Wanwan found that her salary was far from enough to pay for her living expenses. She had to borrow money from her mother again, but this time, she was not ridiculed and blamed, but was indifferent and ignored by her mother.

“You’re still asking for money? I told you I won’t help you anymore.”

Zhou Wanwan felt heartbroken. She thought her mother would be more tolerant of her changes, but the reality disappointed her.

"Mom, I just need some help temporarily. I will work hard and I won't let you down."

Her mother looked at her with a sneer, her tone full of sarcasm.

“You? Working hard? What do you think you can do?”

A firm belief emerged in Zhou Wanwan's heart again, and she was no longer afraid of her mother's ridicule and indifference.

Zhou Wanwan's younger brother Zhou Guo, only 12 years old and still a student, took the initiative to take on the Zhou family's housework. Every morning, he got up early, made breakfast, and delivered medicine to his sister's bed on time. He cleaned the room, washed clothes, bought groceries and cooked, and he could handle everything well without a single complaint.

Although Zhou Guo is still a child, he has proved his strength and responsibility to the whole family with his actions. He silently supports the whole family like a little adult. His efforts and persistence have infected Zhou Wanwan and given her endless courage and hope.

One day, Zhou Guo met a strange man when he came back from the supermarket. The man was wearing strange clothes, with messy hair and a full beard. He saw Zhou Guo carrying large and small bags of vegetables and couldn't help laughing.

"Young man, you are such a good boy." The strange man praised.

Zhou Guo lowered his head shyly: "Thank you, sir."

"Your sister is so seriously ill, but you can still be so strong. It's really admirable." The strange man continued.

Zhou Guo smiled slightly: "I just want to help my sister share some housework."

The strange man suddenly became serious: "Young man, do you know? People often say that destiny is in your own hands. Although you are young, you have shown great strength. As long as you persist, you will be able to change the destiny of yourself and your family."

Zhou Guo listened quietly, his heart full of hope and determination. He decided to continue working hard, not only to complete the housework, but also to study hard, so that he could change the lives of himself and his sister in the future.......

Zhou Guo returned home, his heart filled with the words that the strange man had said: "Your destiny is in your own hands." He felt as if these words had ignited a fire deep in his heart, filling him with determination and courage for the future.

As time went by, Zhou Guo's hard work and determination gradually paid off. He performed well in school and got excellent grades. His teachers and classmates praised his tenacity and hard work. He also earned some pocket money by doing odd jobs to help ease the financial burden on his sister.

However, fate does not always go as one wishes. One day, the Zhou family received a notice that the house they lived in was going to be demolished and they needed to move out as soon as possible.

This news was a heavy blow to the Zhou family. They could no longer find a house that could carry their hopes and dreams.
