The Necromancer in the Wizarding World
Chapter 93 The First Pot of Gold
When Matthews returned to his residence, he saw the law enforcement captain, Joseph, who was anxiously wandering in front of his door.
As soon as Joseph saw Matthews, he immediately went up to him. The words he wanted to question turned around a few times, but turned into a gentle word: "Matthews, there may be some misunderstandings between us. Last time I just came here to convey the intention of reconciliation according to the other party's wishes."
Matthews did not look kindly upon Joseph. He responded bluntly, "But you did not fight for my due rights. Go back and tell the other party that if I do not see a satisfactory result today, I will have to ask my mentor to come forward tomorrow!"
Joseph wanted to argue, but Matthews had already turned and walked into the residence, leaving him standing there alone. He knew that he had really pushed Joseph into a corner this time. However, he was determined to take the 100 magic stones, which was his first pot of gold in the wizarding world.
Joseph naturally didn't take ordinary people seriously, but Matthews was different. Not only was he able to ask his mentor, Master Fernando, to help, he also had evidence of collusion between him and the other party. This gave Joseph a headache and he was helpless.
Joseph had no choice but to bite the bullet and go to Lex again. Although this matter had little to do with him, he had been involved. He hoped that Lex could come forward to solve the problem and let him get rid of Matthews' entanglement.
However, Joseph also knew that Lex was not an easy person to deal with. He had to find a way to convince Lex to pay money to settle the matter. Otherwise, he would have a hard time.
Joseph immediately contacted Lex through his ID card and asked for his specific location. He decided to go to Lex in person and communicate with him face to face to let him understand the seriousness of the matter. Most importantly, he could not be involved in this dispute and he needed to solve this problem as soon as possible.
When Joseph found Lex, Lex was drinking with his two followers. Joseph looked at these two idiots and felt angry. He always thought that wizards were smart and wise, so why did he meet these two idiots?
However, after all, this matter cannot be entirely blamed on these two people. They, Lex and Joseph himself underestimated Matthews, thus putting them in a passive situation.
Joseph walked up to Lex and bowed respectfully: "Master Lex, this is bad! Matthews has appealed himself! And his attitude is very tough!"
Lex sneered disdainfully: "A nobody, you dare to challenge me?" His tone was full of contempt and disdain, and it was obvious that he did not take Matthews seriously.
Joseph quickly explained: "I have already investigated. He is an apprentice personally accepted by Master Fernando and is highly regarded by the master. We may have underestimated him before."
When Lex heard this, he was furious. This position that was supposed to belong to him was taken away by a new student.
He had originally intended to let Matthews back down, but he had not expected this guy to be so bold as to blackmail him. He decided to make Matthews pay a heavy price!
Lex stood up and asked angrily: "So what? Will Master Fernando personally come out to support him?" His voice was full of disdain and provocation.
Joseph secretly groaned in his heart. He hoped that this trouble could be resolved as soon as possible to avoid further escalation of the situation.
Joseph shook his head, a trace of bitterness on his face: "The master may not come forward, but as long as he speaks for Matthews, we will be passive. Master Fernando's position in the academy is very important, and his words are enough to put us in an irretrievable situation."
Lex fell into deep thought, his brows knitted, obviously thinking of a countermeasure. He knew how great the influence of a master of potions was. Once Fernando spoke, their situation would become very unfavorable. He couldn't imagine what consequences they would face if Fernando really spoke for Matthews.
He frowned and said, "What should we do? Do we really have to give him 100 magic stones? This is simply a great shame. How can we gain a foothold in the academy in the future?"
Joseph just wanted to get out of this situation as soon as possible. He didn't want to continue to be involved in this dispute. He sighed and said, "He has the key evidence in his hand. We'd better give him the magic stone first. After all, there is a long way to go. We can slowly find a way to recover the loss, but the most important thing now is to stabilize the situation."
Lex looked at Joseph in astonishment: "Key evidence? What evidence?" His voice was full of confusion and uneasiness.
Joseph only heard that Matthews had evidence, but he didn't know what it was. He made up a story: "It was the video and recording of the incident, which mentioned your name. Matthews threatened us that if we didn't give him 100 magic stones, he would make the evidence public."
Upon hearing this, Lex angrily smashed the wine glass in his hand. The wine glass fragments scattered all over the floor, making a harsh sound. He stared at his two men, with a blaming tone in his words: "How did you do it? How did you let the other party get this kind of evidence? And why did you mention my name in front of them?"
His two men were so scared that they trembled and dared not speak. They knew that they had really caused a big disaster this time. Not only did they offend Matthews, but they also implicated Lex. They prayed in their hearts, hoping that Lex could come up with a way to solve this problem.
However, Lex also knew that blaming him was useless now. He didn't want to give Matthews the magic stone because it would be equivalent to encouraging the enemy's arrogance. However, faced with solid evidence, he had to consider the consequences.
Joseph knew the nature of noblemen like Lex: they spent money like water, but it was extremely difficult to get anything from them.
He patiently advised: "Master Lex, the current situation is extremely unfavorable to us. I suggest you be patient. After all, there is still a long way to go."
Lex glared at Joseph angrily and snorted through gritted teeth: "Boy, I'll remember you! Let me see how you die~! You guys say hello to the mission office and pay attention to this boy's mission, hehe!" Although he was reluctant, he still took out a hundred magic stones and threw them to Joseph fiercely.
Joseph felt very upset. He felt that he was so unlucky. How could he be involved in such a mess? He secretly vowed that he would never get involved in the dispute between these two people again, because both sides were obviously not easy to deal with. He took the magic stone and retreated silently, feeling helpless and frustrated.
