Qu Xiaoyou lowered his head and thought for a moment. After a long time, he finally compromised and nodded gently, "Okay then, I'll go back with you and continue to bother you."

"That's right." Zenmu breathed a sigh of relief.

"Didn't you say you were going to live down the mountain? Why did you end up in this cave?" Zenmu asked as he looked around the cave.

Qu Xiaoyou tightened the cloak around her body and replied shiveringly, "It's too snowy outside. I didn't bring an umbrella. My hands and feet are numb from the cold. I can't walk anymore, so I came here to take shelter. I'm thinking of continuing my journey after the snow stops."

Chanmu understood. He looked at the scene outside the cave where the cold wind was howling and the world was covered with snow. He sat down next to Qu Xiaoyou, ready to wait until the snow stopped before taking her back to the temple.

The cloak that Zenmu brought was his own. When Qu Xiaoyou wrapped it around herself, she could faintly smell his unique sandalwood scent, which made her feel particularly at ease.

After a while, she felt sleepy and leaned her head gently on Zenmu's shoulder, closed her eyes and fell asleep.

Zenmu turned his head to look at her, moved his lips, but ultimately said nothing, sitting up straight and letting her lean comfortably.

After an unknown amount of time, the wind and snow outside gradually died down, and Qu Xiaoyou slowly opened her eyes.

Zenmu saw that her wet eyes seemed to contain a myriad of emotions, including sadness, joy, sadness, and bitterness...

"Are you... dreaming?" Zenmu asked curiously.

Qu Xiaoyou swallowed her saliva and felt a little pain in her throat. After a long while, she murmured with a little sob: "I dreamed of... a room full of guests, a couple singing in harmony, the flickering of candlelight... and... me in a wedding dress, and you with long hair."

After she finished speaking, two tears flowed from the corners of her eyes and fell on Zenmu's shoulders.

Chan Mu's heart seemed to be struck by something. He was silent for a long time before he sighed, "Is there a way to achieve both in this world, to not let down the Tathagata and not let down you?"

"Tathagata... has no emotions and six desires?" Qu Xiaoyou's tone was light and slow, and contained a deep sadness.

Zen Mu put his hands together, closed his eyes to calm himself down, and then said: "The Buddha said: Everything is empty, all actions are impermanent, all dharmas have no self, and all defilements are suffering.

"The Buddha also said: There are eight kinds of suffering in life: birth, aging, sickness, death, separation from loved ones, meeting with those we hate, inability to let go, and failure to obtain what we desire. Among them, separation from loved ones is the most painful. Therefore, practitioners should stay away from the root of suffering."

Hearing this, a feeling of despair covered Qu Xiaoyou's heart like an avalanche.

She had nothing to say. She wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes and dared not ask for anything more.

Wasn't it decided before? She just needed to be with him, so what if they couldn't be husband and wife? She loved him, and she shouldn't force him to give up his beliefs.

Forget it, forget it, I won’t mention it anymore. I just hope that we can be like the swallows on the beam, and see each other year after year.

At this time, the wind outside had completely stopped, only the snowflakes were still falling tirelessly.

"Let's go down the mountain and see Younan. We haven't seen each other for a long time." Qu Xiaoyou said, standing up and walking out of the cave.

Zenmu followed, helped her tie the cloak around her shoulders, picked up the umbrella that had been thrown on the ground and held it over their heads, then walked down the mountain with her.

It was freezing cold, and the street vendors all stayed at home to keep warm. Only the shops on both sides of the street were still open for people in need to buy goods.

Chanmu and Qu Xiaoyou shared an umbrella, walking side by side on the street, handsome and beautiful, looking a perfect match. Unfortunately, Chanmu's monk's clothes spoiled the view.

Walking to the door of a clothing store, Zenmu glanced inadvertently and saw a red cloak in the store that was particularly eye-catching.

The bright red color is bold and warm, and the hood of the cloak is sewn with snow-white fur, which looks particularly icy against the red background.

A peacock was embroidered on the back of the cape with colorful gold thread. The peacock did not spread its tail, but dragged a long colorful tail.

With his chest puffed out and his head held high, under the crown-like crown were a pair of cold and aloof eyes. His noble and holy look seemed to be comparable to the phoenix in the sky.

Zen Mu stared at the cloak and felt that it was tailor-made for Qu Xiaoyou beside him.

Whether it was the color or the colorful golden peacock, it was very consistent with Qu Xiaoyou's temperament. He even felt for a moment that Qu Xiaoyou's predecessor might be this peacock.

Seeing him staring at her in a trance, Qu Xiaoyou also looked towards the clothing store and asked doubtfully, "Mu Tou, do you want to buy some clothes?"

Zenmu retracted his gaze, smiled awkwardly, put the umbrella in his hand into hers, then untied his gray cloak that was on her and put it on himself instead.

"?" Qu Xiaoyou looked at him blankly, not knowing what he meant.

Zenmu explained, "Well, I'm a little cold. Give me back the cloak, and then... I'll go to the store and buy you another one."

After saying that, he went to the shop alone, took out the red cloak in less than a minute and handed it to Qu Xiaoyou.

Qu Xiaoyou took the cloak, her eyes widened, and she looked at him flattered, "This... is this for me?"

"Yes." Zenmu agreed and emphasized again, "I'm cold. Take back your cloak and I'll compensate you with one. Otherwise, I'll be guilty if you get cold."

"Great, thank you!" Qu Xiaoyou looked at the cloak in her hand with surprise and joy. The more she looked at it, the more she liked it. She couldn't wait to put it on.

Sure enough, red is her natural color. With the cloak on, she looks noble and dignified, and her figure becomes taller and more upright.

The red color made her beautiful face look even whiter, attracting passers-by to stop and look.

"It suits you very well." Zenmu said indifferently, but in fact she was sighing in her heart that she and the cloak complemented each other perfectly.

Qu Xiaoyou happily turned around twice in her cloak, looked at Zenmu, stuffed the umbrella into his hand, and turned around and ran into the clothing store.

After a while, she ran out with a blue-gray hat, came to Zenmu, and gently put the hat on Zenmu's exposed bald head.

This hat is simple in style, with cotton inside and outside. It looks good and warm when worn on Zen wood, and makes the facial features look extra tough.

"It's really beautiful. It's just a matter of reciprocity. You gave me a cloak and I gave you a hat." Qu Xiaoyou looked at Zen Mu with satisfaction and smiled.

Zenmu touched the thick hat on his head and nodded to Qu Xiaoyou to express his gratitude: "Thank you."

"You're welcome. Let's go!" Qu Xiaoyou's mood became much brighter, and she continued to rush to the Yu Nan Palace with him.

The snow gradually stopped, in the back garden of Yu Nan Palace...

Xia Younan, wearing a thick green jacket and skirt, sat on the swing, with Lu Xiuyuan pushing her from behind.

In these cold and twelfth months of the year, his eyes seemed to contain a pool of spring water, so gentle that it seemed to melt all the ice and snow.

"I really hope that life can continue to be peaceful like this." Lu Xiuyuan sighed, with a barely perceptible sadness between his brows.

Xia Younan turned to look at him and smiled brightly, "I will."
