Rocot: Reborn
Chapter 65
"Very good, you know this will arouse my interest." The robot's words came lightly, as if it was savoring the change in the situation.
Rocot frowned. "Call your master. I don't like machines talking." His eyes were as sharp as a knife, analyzing every detail of the robot.
"Oh, what a pity. I don't have a master." The robot seemed to enjoy this conversation. "I am an autonomous being."
"Nonsense!" Roccod licked his dry lips, secretly alert in his heart, "You are just a puppet controlled by others."
"Perhaps you should ask yourself, who is the real puppet?" The robot's words were full of double entendres, which made Roccod's heart tighten suddenly.
At this moment, the conspirator seemed to have heard some incredible sound, and his face changed drastically. "No, that's impossible!"
Rocot turned around and shone his eyes at the conspirator, "What happened?"
"The outside world... the device has been connected to the outside world again, and we..." The conspirator's voice was filled with despair, "We are unable to detect the dimension it traveled through."
"Excellent." The robot's voice revealed a hint of satisfaction.
Rocot clenched his fists, cold anger burning in his eyes. "What are you going to do?"
"This is what you should deal with as a monarch." The robot replied slowly, moving slowly towards the device.
Under everyone's gaze, the device suddenly shook and emitted a dazzling light. A crack in the void quietly appeared and swallowed the robot. Before it disappeared, the robot left a last sentence that was not expressive enough. "Lockold, you didn't choose this world, but this world chose you."
The cracks healed and the palace returned to peace. However, the premonition of crisis spread in everyone's heart. Roccod took a deep breath and decisively ordered, "Activate the emergency protocol and prepare for a counterattack."
However, at the moment when all kinds of defense mechanisms were activated, there was a rumble in the sky, and the entire city was shocked. A voice descended from the sky, covering the entire Shadow Kingdom.
"Locked, you can't escape this time." The voice was cold and familiar. Locked's pupils shrank. It was the voice of his most trusted subordinate.
Rocot was filled with anger and doubts. He knew immediately that this turmoil was far from over, but a new beginning. He tightly grasped the scepter in his hand. Everything in front of him might be the ghosts of the past coming to claim his life. But he was Rocot. No matter who it was, no matter when, he would never bow his head.
Rocot stood in front of the device that had just undergone the mutation, looking expressionlessly at the territory shrouded by his dark power. He knew very well that under his rule, no matter what kind of disturbance there was, he had to show absolute control.
"Notify all guardians to enter the first state of combat readiness. I want blades under every stone and a death god hidden in every dark corner." He gave the order in a low and powerful voice.
The ministers all bowed their heads and obeyed the order. They knew that in the monarch's heart, hatred had already penetrated every inch of flesh and blood like bone marrow.
Just as Roccod was trying to push the action further, an unknown force caused his wand to vibrate sharply. This vibration was different from the previous ones, not like the intervention of external forces, but more like a sign.
"Commander." The loyal follower lowered his voice and whispered in Rocot's ear, "The witch's orb has given off strange visions. Perhaps there are things we haven't noticed yet."
Rocot's eyes shone, and he turned and walked forward, his black robe rippling in the morning light as he walked. The witch's orb had always only issued warnings before a great catastrophe in the country. If this omen was indeed true, then the unknown threat was much more serious than expected.
He walked into the central hall. A huge orb shrouded in an ominous halo was suspended above the platform. The alternating red and blue lights seemed to be telling a terrifying future.
Roccod raised his hand and lightly touched the surface of the orb. A cold electric premonition passed through his heart. The orb's light suddenly surged, projecting a hazy image. Only a human figure was seen, with a blurred face, indicating that a major change was about to happen.
"Look carefully to me, who dares to disrupt my chess game in my country!" Rocot said in a deep voice.
The magic energy in the hall responded to his roar, surging like waves, and suddenly, the image in the orb gradually became clear. The figure in the image was no longer blurry, and a cold and ruthless face appeared in front of Roccod.
How could he not be familiar with that cold look - that was the general he trusted most in the past, the traitor who stabbed him in the back when he was dying.
Rokod clenched his fists, and the anger in his heart erupted like a volcano. His eyes returned to reality, and everyone in the hall held their breath, waiting for his order.
"Gather all your strength, at any cost, I want the traitor's head before me." Rocot's order was like a death sentence, cold and merciless.
Just as everyone was busy taking action, the sky suddenly darkened, as if some huge monster was blocking the light. Locot looked up and saw a strange flicker in the clouds.
This is a signal that the war has begun and the enemy is at our doorstep.
The dark clouds on the horizon were like cracks torn by the power of darkness, emitting terrifying purple lightning. Roccod's furrowed brows were like a deep groove, foreshadowing the coming storm.
"My Lord!" A soldier rushed into the hall panting and limped over. "There are more visions. News came from the outposts on the northern border. There seems to be an invisible beast roar hidden in the dark wind."
Roccod's face darkened. "Check, check the border defenses immediately!" His voice was cold and steady, like a sword with murderous intent. "This dark cloud and strong wind may be the prelude of those ants."
"But, my king... the celestial phenomena are not going away," another guard said, "Our priests have predicted a greater crisis. Even the stars have lost their luster in the past few days, as if some kind of darkness is about to engulf everything."
Rocot pursed his lips and turned to face the glittering orb. It was the holy object of the night, which had always helped him understand the changes in the world. He placed his hand on the halo, and in an instant, the magic power connected with his will, and the color of the orb instantly became deep, like the night sky.
"Squeak!" At this moment, a figure quietly entered the hall. It was a beautiful woman with bright eyes. "Lockold, it's not good. There's news from the black market."
Rocot turned his head and said, "Speak."
The woman pursed her red lips and said, "Those nobles who gambled in the black market are evacuating. They seem to know something." Her tone was a little doubtful, "I suspect that the clues behind this may point to your old friend."
"My patience is limited." A cold look flashed in Rocot's eyes. He would never allow anyone to shake his power. "Pass the order down and find out the movements of those nobles, no matter what means are used."
The woman nodded slightly, gave Rocot a meaningful look, turned around and disappeared into the shadows.
