Li Changpu insisted on taking her to the dining car for dinner, and Jiang Tingxia was not as resistant as before and followed him.

He did have a way to find a table in the dining car when there were many people at dinner time.

Li Changpu ordered her a bowl of millet porridge, a steamed pumpkin, and a bowl of yam, corn and pork ribs soup. Seeing her droopy face and her eager eyes on the sweet and spicy dishes, Li Changpu shook his head and refused, "Have you forgotten how uncomfortable it was when you vomited?"

Jiang Tingxia: "The dishes you ordered have no taste. I don't want to eat them anymore."

She smelled the spicy and delicious food from the next table, so she couldn't eat the bland food anymore.

Li Changpu coaxed her, "These are all good for the stomach."

He added, "I eat the same thing as you."

Jiang Tingxia curled her lips, "It's up to you."

She casually complained, "How long will this ride take?"

Li Changpu added a pinch of sugar to her millet porridge, stirred it evenly, handed it to her, and said, "Be patient, it will arrive the day after tomorrow afternoon."

Jiang Tingxia scooped a spoonful of rice porridge and put it into her mouth. It tasted sweet and her throat wasn't so hoarse anymore.

She thought, it’s almost there.

Jiang Tingxia had another worry on her mind: how to prevent Li Changpu from meeting the Jiang family?

Li Changpu pushed the plate of steamed pumpkin towards her and said, "Eat more."

She became sicker and sicker day by day. She felt nauseous, dizzy and vomited because she was not used to the local climate when she went out. It was because she ate too little and did not take good care of her body.

Jiang Tingxia was thinking about something, and she subconsciously picked up something with chopsticks and put it into her mouth when Li Changpu handed it to her.

Alas, there is a solution.

Li Changpu saw Jiang Tingxia eating a piece of pumpkin with a smile on his face and asked, "Do you like pumpkin?"

"You're all laughing. Are you that happy?"

Jiang Tingxia was thinking about how to fool him. Looking at his dark eyes, she thought that she could get rid of this big guy and become a free and easy rich woman. She smiled at him and answered casually, "Yeah, I'm happy."

The train arrived at five in the afternoon. After a lot of trouble, it was already dark when they arrived.

Li Changpu was standing in a desolate environment with his luggage. In front of him was an old house with green brick walls that looked quite old. A cold wind blew, and the broken lantern hanging at the door swayed, looking eerie and scary.

He asked, "What is this place?"

"The Jiang family's old house."

After Jiang Tingxia finished speaking, he walked forward with the big dog in his arms and knocked on the copper ring on the door.

Half a quarter of an hour later, the door creaked open.

An old man in his seventies came out of the gate, holding a candle and trying hard to see people.

The candlelight reflected on Jiang Tingxia's face. The old woman looked at her in confusion and was stunned for a long time.

Jiang Tingxia seemed to be used to it and called out, "Uncle Afa, I'm Tingxia."

Hearing her say this, the man's cloudy eyes suddenly lit up. He looked at Jiang Tingxia and exclaimed twice, then opened the door and welcomed her in.

Jiang Tingxia turned around and said to Li Changpu, "Come in."

Ah Fa raised the candle again and shone it towards Li Changpu. Suddenly, Ah Fa screamed. Since he could not speak, the sound came entirely from his throat. He strained his throat with all his might, and the sound was like a erhu with a broken string, extremely piercing in the silent night.

Jiang Tingxia looked at this scene in surprise. Uncle Afa was old and his legs were not flexible, but he took a few quick steps and came to Li Changpu, holding the candle almost to his face. Li Changpu could even feel the heat of the flame.

When Ah Fa saw his appearance clearly, a few old-fashioned laughs came out of his throat, and he actually started dancing like a child.

Then he pulled Li Changpu and let him into the house.

Jiang Tingxia pointed to his head and explained, "Uncle Afa can't speak, and his IQ is the same as a five or six-year-old child. Maybe he hasn't seen a stranger for a long time, so he's a little excited. Don't mind it, come in."

Li Changpu was pulled into the house by Uncle Afa. The inside of the house was not as mottled and old as the outside. Although there were some peeling and cracks on the walls, the overall situation was well maintained, the floor was clean, and the few items were neatly placed in the spacious yard.

Moreover, this house is made of blue bricks and tiles, with an exquisite layout and carved beams and painted rafters. It was the house where a wealthy family lived in the past, but it has been exposed to wind and rain and has not been properly repaired, so it looks a bit dilapidated.

Uncle Afa excitedly shouted at Li Changpu twice and pointed at the house to the west, but Li Changpu didn't understand what he meant.

Jiang Tingxia explained, "That's the guest room. Uncle Afa will take you there. You will rest there tonight."

Li Changpu listened to the sound made by Uncle Afa and realized something was wrong. The sound he made was different from that of other mutes.

Li Changpu looked at his mouth, and saw that there was only half a hideous and terrifying tongue in the old man's mouth.

Jiang Tingxia saw his shocked expression and explained, "Uncle Afa was picked up by my grandfather. He seems to have been abused for a long time and is seriously injured. He has lost half of his tongue and is also very stupid."

"Grandpa took pity on him and let him live in the old house. The Jiang family has fallen in recent years, so he is the only one who stays here."

Li Changpu recalled the several times he had met Mr. Jiang and said, "Mr. Jiang is a good man."

Mentioning the deceased Mr. Jiang, both of them felt a little sad. After a moment of silence, Li Changpu said, "The vacant house has not been occupied for a long time. Let's clean it up before going to sleep."

After that, he asked Jiang Tingxia, "Which room do you sleep in?"

Jiang Tingxia pointed to the main room.

Li Changpu then said to Uncle Afa, "Uncle Afa, where is the firewood? I want to boil some water."

Uncle Afa did not answer.

Jiang Tingxia said, "Uncle Afa only listens to Grandpa and doesn't care about others."

"I'll take you there."

Jiang Tingxia led Li Changpu to the kitchen, and Uncle Fa followed Li Changpu all the way, as if he was afraid that he would run away. Even Jiang Tingxia asked, "Why is Uncle Fa so attached to you?"

Li Changpu was also confused and knew nothing.

The two of them started a fire and boiled a large pot of water. While the water was boiling, Li Changpu first swept the house they lived in, and then wiped off the dust with a wet rag.

He moved quickly and finished everything in less than half an hour.

He also boiled a large pot of water for the two of them to bathe.

During the days on the train, Jiang Tingxia's brows were furrowed. He kept smelling himself from time to time and complained that he was stinking.

Li Changpu warned, "The weather is getting cold, take a shower, dry your hair before going to bed."

She is always impatient when drying her hair. She just drys it roughly and then rolls into bed to sleep. It's really worrying.

Jiang Tingxia was about to close the door impatiently, "Got it."

Li Changpu knew from her tone that she was just trying to fool him again, so he threatened, "Be careful or you'll get a headache."

With a bang, Jiang Tingxia closed the door.

Li Changpu felt a little uncomfortable with the feeling of being shut out.

He turned around and went back to his guest room, thinking dejectedly that a house that was too big and had too many rooms was not a good thing.

Uncle Afa walked slowly behind him. When he saw him enter his room and close the door, he felt relieved and moved back to his room step by step.
