One Piece: The Straw Hat Pirates' Max-Level Swordsman
Chapter 308 Keep waiting
Whitebeard sat on a box beside him, which seemed a little small under his huge body. He leaned against the wall behind him and continued to drink his wine, making a satisfied gurgling sound in his throat.
The wine flowed down the corners of his mouth, soaking his thick white beard, but he didn't care at all. After drinking a few sips of wine, he even hummed an unknown little tune.
The melody of the ditty was simple yet rough, with a heroic air, just like Whitebeard himself.
His voice was low and hoarse, but it had a unique penetrating power amid the hustle and bustle of the port. Some people around couldn't help but cast curious glances when they heard the little tune, but Whitebeard was immersed in his own world and continued to hum as if no one was around.
Roger searched around and found a relatively quiet and comfortable place to lean against. He leaned against the wall, his body slightly relaxed, his hands hanging casually at his sides.
His eyes looked up to the sky. In the azure blue sky, a few snow-white clouds were floating like clouds. Occasionally, a seabird flapped its wings and flew by, leaving behind a graceful arc.
There was a depth in Roger's eyes, as if he was thinking about unknown things through the sky, perhaps recalling past adventures, or perhaps imagining what might happen in the future.
His gaze was calm and distant, as if he was lost in his own world, isolated from the hustle and bustle around him.
Luffy is still the most restless one among the crowd. He is like a little sun full of energy, emitting irrepressible vitality.
He first rushed to the dock like a whirlwind, put his hands on the railing, leaned forward, stared at the sea level with wide eyes without blinking, and looked so focused that it seemed as if the revolutionary army's ship would immediately appear before his eyes as long as he stared like that.
After looking for a while and not noticing anything, he jumped back to his original place like a naughty little rabbit and kept jumping around there.
His feet jumped alternately, raising a small cloud of dust, and he kept muttering, "Why hasn't Sabo come yet? Why hasn't Sabo come yet?" His anxious voice was full of longing and expectation for Sabo, and every word seemed to come directly from the bottom of his heart.
Suddenly, Luffy's eyes lit up as if he had discovered a new world, and that bright look was like the brightest stars twinkling in the night sky.
He excitedly stretched out his finger, pointed straight at the sea level, and shouted at the top of his voice: "Look! Is that the revolutionary army's ship coming?" His voice was full of excitement and anticipation, and the volume was so loud, like a thunder exploding in the port, instantly attracting the attention of everyone around him.
Attracted by his shout, everyone looked in the direction he pointed.
Whitebeard put down the wine jug in his hand and slowly stood up. His tall body swayed slightly, and then he looked into the distance with a firm gaze.
Roger also stood up from where he was leaning, and the original contemplation in his eyes was replaced by anticipation.
Ling Tian turned around quickly, his eyes fixed on where Luffy was pointing. There was a hint of anticipation and excitement in their eyes, a curiosity about the unknown and a longing for what was to come.
However, as the ship got closer, everyone saw that it was just an ordinary merchant ship without any revolutionary army logo on its hull.
The expectation in everyone's eyes instantly dissipated, like a candle blown out, and they looked away in disappointment. Whitebeard shook his head helplessly, sat back on the box, picked up the wine flask and took a sip; Roger sighed softly, leaned back to his original place, and continued to fall into his own thoughts; Ling Tian looked at Luffy helplessly, with a hint of doting blame in his eyes.
Luffy scratched his head, smiled embarrassedly, and muttered: "I thought it was..." But his eyes were still full of expectation, and he continued to watch the sea level.
"Luffy, don't be so jumpy." Ling Tian shook his head slightly, but with a faint smile on his lips, he said softly.
His voice was gentle and calm, and although he was reminding Luffy, there was no hint of blame in his tone. Instead, it sounded like an older brother tolerating the little mistakes of his naughty younger brother.
After hearing Ling Tian's words, Luffy scratched his messy hair under his straw hat, scratched his hair with his fingers a few times, then stuck out his tongue and said with a grin, "I'm sorry, Ling Tian, I was too anxious."
There was still excitement in his eyes, and his expression did not seem to contain much genuine apology. Instead, it seemed as if he was looking for a simple excuse for his own recklessness.
Although Luffy said this, there was no sign of embarrassment on his face.
His bronze face was filled with an irrepressible vitality, his eyes were wide open, and the corners of his mouth were stretched into a wide grin, as if what had just happened was just a little joke.
His body was still shaking slightly, as if he would jump up again with excitement at any time. He looked like a naughty child. Although he knew that what he was doing might not be appropriate, he didn't really care in his heart.
Ling Tian didn't care, after all, Luffy's personality was like this. From the moment he met Luffy, Luffy was like a passionate burning flame, full of infinite vitality and impulse.
His joy, anger, sorrow and happiness were all written on his face, and all his emotions were as direct and passionate as a volcanic eruption.
Ling Tian had long been accustomed to Luffy's occasional reckless and childish behavior. He knew that Luffy had no ill intentions, but was just too much looking forward to Sabo's arrival, so he could not control his emotions.
In Ling Tian's view, Luffy's pure and straightforward character is like a ray of warm sunshine. Although it may be a little dazzling sometimes, it is full of vitality and hope.
They continued to wait patiently at the port, the sea breeze blowing gently, bringing a hint of salty air. In this seemingly peaceful wait, a subtle atmosphere quietly spread between them.
This atmosphere is hard to describe, like an undercurrent surging beneath the calm surface of a lake. No one spoke, but everyone could feel each other's silent anticipation for the arrival of the revolutionary army.
This anticipation was like an invisible thread that bound them tightly together, weaving a tense and exciting web of emotions in the air.
Ling Tian and the others stood there quietly, like a few statues, with upright and firm postures. Their eyes seemed to be attracted by a magnet, always looking at the sea level in the distance where the sea and the sky meet.
The sea surface sparkled under the sunlight, like an endless golden ribbon. Their eyes were full of concentration and desire, and their hearts were full of anticipation for the arrival of the revolutionary army.
This expectation was like a burning flame, beating hotly in their chests, and every heartbeat seemed to be calling out the name of the revolutionary army.
