One Piece: The Straw Hat Pirates' Max-Level Swordsman
Chapter 316 Strange Room
As the marines escorted Ling Tian out of the prison, a huge shadow enveloped them. Ling Tian looked up and saw a grand and eerie building.
It was a huge building similar to a castle. It was like a dark monster rising from the deep sea, huge and oppressive.
The towering city wall is made of huge stones, each of which seems to be telling the vicissitudes and ruthlessness of the years. The city wall exudes a cold atmosphere, a kind of coldness precipitated by countless sins and despair, as if a silent giant beast overlooking the sins of the world.
On the city wall, there is a watchtower at regular intervals. The lights in the tower flicker like ghost lights, as if they are vigilantly spying on everything around them.
The castle gate was tightly closed. The heavy iron door seemed like an insurmountable barrier. The door was covered with all kinds of strange lines and scratches. Those scratches seemed to be the marks left by the desperate struggles of the prisoners imprisoned here.
On both sides of the gate stood two huge statues, depicting naval soldiers holding weapons. Their expressions were serious and cold, like the guardians of this prison, always ready to suppress anyone who tried to resist.
The castle is surrounded by an open area, the ground is paved with hard stone slabs. Some unknown weeds grow in the gaps between the slabs. Those weeds tremble in the sea breeze, as if they are also frightened by the gloomy atmosphere of the building.
On one side of the castle, there is a passage leading to the sea. From time to time, the sound of waves hitting the stone walls can be heard in the passage. The sound seems particularly dull in the silent environment, as if the sea is making a low roar at the prison.
"This is the Impel Down Prison where all the pirates in the world are imprisoned. It really lives up to its reputation and is known as the safest fortress in the world." Ling Tian couldn't help but sigh in his heart, his eyes slowly wandering over the huge building, like an explorer examining an ancient and mysterious relic.
His eyes were full of curiosity and vigilance as he tried to remember every detail of it, from the height of the city walls to the distribution of watchtowers, from the structure of the gate to the surrounding terrain. He knew that these details might play a crucial role in the next action.
However, the marines did not notice Ling Tian's sigh. They were like a group of emotionless machines, only knowing to carry out their mission according to the established procedures.
Their eyes were cold and numb, and they just mechanically escorted Ling Tian towards the terrifying prison.
Their steps were neat and heavy, and each step made a dull sound on the stone road, as if it was a welcome song played by the prison, welcoming another soul that was about to be imprisoned.
The Marine who led the team had a serious face, his eyes revealing the coldness and majesty of a soldier. He gripped the rifle in his hand tightly, and then gave an order: "Go! Don't dawdle!" The voice was like a cold stone hitting the ground, crisp and stiff, and there was a kind of contempt for the prisoners in his unquestionable tone.
After saying that, he strode forward, signaling the other marines around him to hold Ling Tian tightly, and continued to escort Ling Tian towards the dark entrance of the Impel Down Prison.
The marines escorted Ling Tian, their steps steady and heavy.
Their boots stepped heavily on the ground, making a "dong dong dong" sound. Every step seemed to be stepping on Ling Tian's heart, making him more and more nervous.
Ling Tian felt like a prey caught by a hunter, being dragged step by step into the dark abyss. His heart was beating violently in his chest, as if it was about to burst through his chest, and beads of sweat gradually seeped out of his forehead.
He knew very well that he was in an extremely dangerous situation and that every slight movement could expose his identity, so he could only pretend to be calm, lowering his eyes slightly, observing the movements around him.
Soon, they passed through a long corridor, which was like a winding giant python, dark and deep.
The stones on the wall were wet, and water droplets continued to seep out. Drop by drop, they fell to the ground, making a monotonous "tick-tick" sound. Mixed with the damp and moldy smell, it filled the entire corridor.
The smell was like a pair of invisible hands, tightly covering one's mouth and nose, making it difficult to breathe. The lights on the wall flickered dimly, and the weak flame struggled in the lamp, as if it would be swallowed by the darkness at any time.
As the lights flickered, the shadows cast on the wall swayed like a ghost with bared fangs and claws, which made people shudder.
Finally, after walking through this long and depressing corridor, Ling Tian was pushed into a room. The door was opened roughly by the marines, making a harsh "creaking" sound, like a painful groan.
As soon as he entered the room, Ling Tian was like a vigilant cheetah, keenly aware of the difference in this room. The space here was much more spacious than the usual small and dark prison cells that could only accommodate one person curled up.
There was no suffocating feeling of crampedness in the room, but instead an open yet mysterious atmosphere.
All kinds of strange equipment are displayed wherever you look. These equipment seem to come from an unknown mechanical world, exuding an elusive aura.
Those instruments looked cold and hard, and every edge seemed to be forged with the coldest steel will.
Their surfaces were extremely smooth, and under the slightly dim light in the room, they emitted a cold light unique to metal, which was like an icy blade that seemed able to easily cut through the darkness.
The shapes of these instruments are also strange. Some are like huge claws, bending and stretching into the air, as if ready to grab something at any time; some are like a huge snail shell, with complex patterns, curled up there layer by layer, making people want to explore its internal structure.
"What is this place?" Ling Tian was puzzled, frowning slightly, and a trace of doubt flashed in his eyes. But he quickly forced himself to calm down and began to carefully observe the surrounding environment.
His eyes were as sharp as an eagle's, not missing any details.
He saw some huge containers that towered into the sky, like steel giants standing in the corners of the room.
The outer wall of the container is thick and solid, with some complex scales and markings on it, but those markings look like some ancient and mysterious symbols, making it impossible to understand their exact meaning.
The top of the container is connected to some thick pipes. These pipes are like winding giant pythons, connecting the containers together and extending to other strange devices.
